Activity Description
Join us for this fascinating and timely walking tour to learn about the famous Scandals & Scoundrels of Wall Street!
Tour starts with a visit to the Museum of American Finance (ticket included in tour) to see the “Scandal! Financial Crime, Chicanery and Corruption that Rocked America” exhibit.
We continue outdoors with a Wall Street walking tour focusing on the Scoundrels who had lived and worked in the area.
On this tour, you will:
- Meet Wall Street’s most famous scoundrels, starting with the man who caused the first stock market crash in 1792, William Duer, a friend of financial icon Alexander Hamilton.
- You’ll become acquainted with the most famous robber barons of the Gilded Age: Jim Fisk, Jay Gould, and Daniel Drew. Some of these fellows’ actions required intervention by President Ulysses Grant, a timely parallel indeed!
- Then it is on to modern Wall Street which as we know has been shaken by Enron, WorldCom, accounting scandals, and most recently by Bernie Madoff (need we say more?).
See the New York Stock Exchange, AIG, the Bull, the Goldman Sachs building and other important sites in the area.
