Seller Description:
The best way to tour any historic city is by foot. Since 1999, Washington Walks guides have been escorting visitors and locals alike through quaint neighborhoods, along hip urban thoroughfares, and past D.C.’s instantly recognizable landmarks and memorials.

Whether you’re a first-time visitor or long-time resident, the same holds true: if you haven’t been on a Washington Walk, you haven’t been to Washington, D.C.!

Activity Information:

Activity Description
Outdoor artwork can be found throughout America’s capital city, yet perhaps nowhere in such abundance as the area known as Judiciary Square, a name derived from the fact that it became the municipal center of Washington early in its history.

Why should a place known for its courthouses be the source for so much public artwork? Only the lawyers and judges know for sure, but suffice to say that you will run into some giants of jurisprudence along this route.

You'll also encounter:

  • A “temple” to an egotistical dentist
  • Two anonymous chess players
  • The National Gallery of Art East Building (an outdoor sculpture in and of itself)
  • A series of contemporary pieces gracing the museum grounds
  • A pair of sculptures that embody the Art Deco movement
We’ll conclude at the National Gallery Sculpture Garden, only a decade old and already a favorite outdoor venue.

What Is Not Included?
This walk does not include an interior tour of any buildings seen or discussed.
