Activity Description
Most people think of Capitol Hill as a place where business is done, laws are passed, and deals are sealed. But "the Hill", as locals call it, represents much more - it is also a neighborhood that has been alive and kicking since the 18th century, it still has the houses to prove it.

On this walk, you'll see:

  • The historic Marine Corps barracks and Commandant of the Marine Corps’ home
  • An alley that once housed more than 100 people
  • A charming Gothic Revival church
  • The Eastern Market, a centuries-old shopping center, where you can grab a cannoli, crab cake sandwich, or just take in the sights and smells of fresh meat, cheese, pasta, and produce
Come join us for a walk through the splendid Capitol Hill neighborhood and take in the character and beauty that dates back to the 1800s.

This walk is jointly sponsored by Washington Walks and Cultural Tourism DC
