Activity Description
Hollywood on the Potomac is the star of this “Saturday night at the movies” tour. New York City may claim Woody Allen and Martin Scorsese; Los Angeles has Walt Disney and Steven Spielberg. But Washington, D.C.? Hey, we spawn U.S. presidents, not filmmakers... or do we?

Zoom in on our back lot you'll see that for decades film makers have descended upon America’s capital to capture its monumental vistas, historic neighborhoods, political players, a certain sinister stairway and a secret parking garage. You’ve seen the movies, now find out where—and how—they and others were filmed in DC:

  • Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
  • The Exorcist
  • All the President’s Men
  • No Way Out
  • Broadcast News
  • Independence Day
  • And many more...
We’ll utter the famous lines, reveal the famous gaffes (Where is the Georgetown subway station?) and provide enough Washington film trivia to satisfy your favorite movie junkie. We’ll even manage a few rounds of Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.

Think celluloid Washington is only talking heads on TV? “You want the truth? ... You can’t handle the truth.”
