Activity Description
You can get great Dominican food at dozens of restaurants, but you would be hard pressed to find such outward national and culinary pride. The owners ditched their day jobs last year to open this Dominican bistro, which they named after their common refrain when friends asked about the homey dishes the couple served at dinner parties. They enlisted relatives from Inwood to tend tables and collected family recipes to inform their menu.

To begin, you'll settle down at your table and have a quick bite before you receive a 20 to 30 minute history lesson on Dominican cuisine and it's culture. From there you'll meet the chef and see how he, or she, prepares world-class cuisine using the freshest ingredients and experience a private cooking demonstration in a NYC kitchen.

The balance of your experience, between 1.5 and 2 hours, is spent dining from the following menu:

Antojitos / Appetizers

  • Pasteles en hoja / mixed plantains patty stuffed with pork
  • Bollitos de yuca / cassava stuffed with beef roll
  • Torrejas de bacalao / cod fish fritters
  • Empanadas / stuffed chicken or beef pastries

  • Platos Fuertes / Entrees
  • Chicharrón de pollo / perfect fried chicken chunks
  • Lambi guisado / grounded conch in Creole sauce
  • Camarones salteados con coco / shrimp in coconut sauce

  • Hay un dulcito? / Any desserts?
  • Flan / custard
  • Pudin de pan / bread pudding
  • Dulce de leche cortada / "dulce de leche”

  • Come hungry and expect to be wined, dined, and pampered New York City style!
