We consider ourselves world travelers and knowledgable about other cultures and their food customs. We still learned a few things while having a great time. The group size is small enough to allow for many questions and you cover a lot and eat a lot. You are introduced to some restaurants and foods you would not have found unless you had a guide. We covered breakfast including dim sum, lunch with a wide variety of selections and desserts. Shirley provided much insight into the Chinese community and what keeps it such a vital part of San Francisco today. We were looking for several specific items and we were quickly directed to places to buy them. After shopping on our own, we found the suggested stores also had provided the best buys. We were introduced to a great tea shop while on the tour and we returned there the next day. The shop offers focused tastings which allow you to taste teas based on what characteristics you like. I was very impressed with the whole experience and would take another tour. Shirley works hard to keep everyone in the group involved in the experience and she has a wonderful sense of humor. I'd love to take a cooking class with her. |

We had the most wonderful tour of Chinatown with Shirley Fong-Torres. She is an amazing woman who is absolutely full of interesting information about Chinatown and food. We ate so much and tried so many different foods that we might not have ever tried without her guidance. My two sons, 10 and 12 were amazed at all of the different places that she took us to and how much food she gave us to eat. She was great about getting a variety of dishes for us to try. I would, we would, highly recommend this tour to anyone ready to eat their way through Chinatown. |

My husband and I have been visiting San Francisco for more than 20 years, but we have never felt a part of it like we did after visiting Chinatown with Shirley Fong-Torres on her Wok Wiz Tour! Because of Shirley our family walked the streets and alleys of that area with new eyes, appreciating the culture and the history of Chinatown like never before. Shirley has a vivacious, friendly demeanor that is so inviting and she brings the stories she tells to life. Just walking the colorful streets of Chinatown is not enough to appreciate the richness of the area, but with Shirley and Wok Wiz Tours you have a fast track ticket inside the culture that is still so vibrantly alive in Chinatown; a guide into restaurants, markets, and stores teeming with locals that takes you into their daily life and gives you a chance to eat, drink, laugh, and savor your way through a delicious morning unlike any other! From steaming jook and parades of dim sum to delicious, fragrant teas; from warm, fresh custard pastry in our hands to a table top of noodles, vegetables and main dishes, our whole family thought that this was one of our favorite parts of our trip! Thank you Shirley! |

Had been on this tour a few years ago. This was very different, boring and the food was awful. My husband actually got sick! |

Born in Chinatown, Frank knew everyone and everything. He answered all questions, made detours to accommodate our requests, fed us well, gave us food photography pointers and had a great sense of humor. I would enthusiastically recommend this tour to anyone with an interest in Chinese food, culture and history. |

Our tour included only two couples and our guide, Frank. The small size of the group made it much easier to discuss the food, the restaurants, and the area. Frank was knowledgable of the area and did a great job keeping us informed, entertained, and well fed. We highly recommend this food focused tour. |

We had a wonderful time eating our way through Chinatown. Shirley was delightful, funny, witty and very knowledgable. The diversity of the cuisine was fascinating. Don't plan on Americanized Chinese food - Shirley will give you the real stuff! We highly recommend this tour if you have 3 hours for Chinatown and would enjoy a food adventure. |

Shirley Fong-Torres is a master. She escorted us through some most memorable Chinatown experiences. From the Red Blossom Tea Shop to Yuet Lee's restaurant, we enjoyed every minute. There was a spontaneity to the tour that extended into great conversations about food. We'll do it again! |
