Second time I've been on the tour and it wasn't as good as last time.
Didn't see as much of the culture - more a tour of the shops! Tour guide hugely enthusiastic, but didn't cover much about paintings, fortunes or even the cooking!
Food at end was great, but a little rushed. |

We had a wonderful wok wiz tour with Dorothy on Sat. March 31, 2007. She showed us around beautiful China Town and talked about the history, the culture, etc. She is full of information and a joy to be around. The lunch we had was so delicious and we will return again for lunch. Thanks again!

My husband and I recently took our grandson to San Francisco for the first time. He loves history and we wanted him to see the city from a historical perspective whenever possible. Our tour through Chinatown with Hank gave him that perspective, since Hank grew up in Chinatown. We loved the walks through different alleys and seeing through Hank's eyes how things have changed over the decades, though in essence, Chinatown remains the same. I can highly recommend this tour, especially for people with Children, since it allows the whole family to become more than just "tourists." |

The host was very congenial, lots of fun, knowledgeable and had many interesting stories about Chinatown and the wide variety of food available there. We really enjoyed the tea tasting at the Red Blossom which was very informative and we went back after to buy some of their tea. There was plenty to eat at the Dim Sum lunch and the food was delicious. A great introduction to Chinatown for the uninitiated. |

We enjoyed the tour given by Dorothy. Being from the area she was able to give us a history as well as relate some of her first hand experiences. We enjoyed meeting several of her shop owner friends. |

Our guide grew up in Chinatown, so she could provide interesting insights into life there over the years. Our group was about 18 people, which was too many. The dim sum lunch was not very good. Next time I'd try the City Guides tour, which is free. |

We enjoyed the tour and found it much more enjoyable and informative than just wandering around on our own. Our 9 year old son enjoyed it also. Our tour leader was fun and interesting; our only caution is that she talked a little too long sometimes when she would stop us to explain or point out something. The two hour length and then lunch was just right for us. |

I was looking for something fun for my stepdaughter and I to do for her 20th birthday. She wanted to go to San Francisco but I needed a focal point. Wok Wiz was just the ticket. We have been to Chinatown several times on our own but wanted to know more. Our guide grew up in Chinatown in the 40's-60's. She knew intimate details that she was willing to share. We found hidden treasures on back alleys of Chinatown. We visited a temple and had our fortunes revealed; we tasted freshly baked fortune cookies and saw how they were made; we sampled some of the best tea in the world; we saw dragons preparing for a store opening; we learned where to find secret tasty treats; we had our imaginations intrigued! The tour ended with a wonderful dim sum lunch and the opportunity to ask questions of our knowledgeable guide and share stories with our new friends. I highly recommend the tour for both locals and out of town visitors. You won't be disappointed! |

Our tour leader, Dorothy, was a long time resident of Chinatown. She was a great storyteller and a fount of information. She related Chinatown's history to San Francisco's overall history as well as to China's ancient and recent history and how all these affected Chinatown's development. Dorothy wove her personal history into the mix for a very entertaining and informative tour. Add to that the wonderful lunch, including dim sum and chop stick instruction and it was a delightful tour. |
