We highly enjoyed the tour, the guide, etc. However, the food was not very good. My husband loves Chinese, has eaten dim sum before, and was not impressed by the menu, and food at lunch. Though I have never eaten dim sum so had no comparison, I was not impressed either. Bottom line, if we come back we will not eat on the tour- |

We really enjoyed the walking tour of Chinatown. We visited some places we would never go alone, would have never ventured this deep in the culture. It was fantastic to see how unique this area is and to get a vivid glimse of the daily activity. Alberta was a fantastic guide and her real life stories were essential in getting the whole Chinatown vibe. The Tea Tasing was great. You definitely learn more by taking this tour than you can ever imagine just driving through. A must experience!
PS. Alberta showed us where we could get a delicious custard tart, and after the tour- we ran into the bakery....it was devine! Thanks Alberta! |

The WokWiz tour is great if your time in Chinatown is limited. I enjoyed hearing the tour guide's experiences growing up and living her adult life in and around Chinatown. The highlights of the tour were her stories, the stop at the Red Blossom Tea Company, and the fun of mingling with other tourists. I have had better dim sum in New York's Chinatown (this was rather greasy), but the food at lunch was plentiful and the conversation most enjoyable. If you are not short on time, you would do just as well exploring the area on your own, however I do recommend the tour if you are on a time crunch. |

Our tour guide was Dorothy Quong (sorry for the misspelling). She did an excellent job and I'm very glad we took the tour. I had friends that thought it was a waste of money, but touring without all the historical background and other info just wouldn't have been good. I would recommend your tour to anyone that was visiting San Francisco.

Shirley is a caring, dynamic person and shares her love of the community with her visitors. This gives a great insight to Chinatown. Don't even think about not doing the dim sum lunch-it was fabulous! |

I've been on many walking tours...in New York, Paris and Texas. I would recommend this one--it is reasonably priced with a substantial and delicious lunch at the end of the tour. The guide was knowledgeable, humorous, and gracious. I've been to Chinatown many times, but the historical and personal information made it much more meaningful. Another bonus was the interesting and fun people on the tour. Go and Enjoy!!! |

Our tour guide Dorothy did an amazing job. Literally a lifelong resident, born in a tenement house in one of Chinatown's legendary alleys, she really knew every street, alley, nook, and cranny of the area, and was able to put everything in a perspective that outlined the history and significance of everything we saw. She introduced us to the shopkeepers and vendors who are the city's heartbeat, and even just to friends she encountered on the street. You definitely come away with a profound sense of the nature of this city-within-a-city and with a greater understanding of how it fits into the wonderful tapestry (or "salad bowl") that is San Francisco. And all throughout she told the story with humor and personality. We fell in love in love with her, and with Chinatown through her eyes.
Oh, and the Dim Sum lunch was tasty too! |
