Hank took us into the history and present day activity of San Francisco's Chinatown, bringing it all to life with personal details and reminiscences. He was a friendly and knowledgeable guide. |

The tour guide was very enthusiastic and was good about sharing stories about his life growing up in Chinatown and the history of Chinatown. I liked that he took some extra time with the group too. We saw a wide range of places, but I expected to see the busy market of Chinatown ... where was the hustle and bustle? where was the street market with armadillos and other curiosities you read about? It felt like maybe the tourists were being shuffled around the edges of the heart of Chinatown to keep us out of the locals' way. Of course, everyone is free to explore Chinatown on their own before or after the tour; but for those travelers with limited time, it would have been great to include at least a brief walk through that area.
Again, the guide did a good job, but overall, I'd have to rate it a 3.5 out of 5, only because it did not quite go everywhere I hoped it would. |

Overall, the tour was enjoyable and informative. Frank was a nice guy, perpaps a bit prone to laughing too much at his own comments. |

Our guide had great personality, and we had fun on the tour, but I expected a greater thematic emphasis. We got a smattering of information of the foods we saw at market and a little introduction to some cultural ideas, but no real cohesive or well though out tour. Did love the tea shop experience, and heartily recommend a visit to Red Blossom Tea Company. |

I have been to China Town many times before, but enjoyed it this time from a different perspective--that of a local. Our tour guide told us all sorts of interesting details about Chinese culture and her heritage as a Chinese-American born and raised in China Town. |

I took this tour in hopes that I could expose my 13 year old daughter to new customs and food while in San Francisco. Not only did she try everything that was served in the 7 course dim sum lunch, she liked it! And, listening to her tell friends about the tour was terrific! Tried a green tea, saw ducks, chickens and pigs hanging in a window, visited a fortune cookie shop (that was fun!) and exploring the Tsao temple. From start to finish, we both enjoyed the experience. She'll never forget it, and neither will I. |

A real New Year's Eve Treat

Lola was a delight. She guided us through a very crowded New Year' eve in Chinatown. Her explanations helped us all understand what we were seeing. The visit to the tea company was a real treat and well worth the stop. We had others in the group with a small child. Lola took care to include the little one whenever appropriate. Lunch was very good with a nice variety of foods, well prepared and served.
I would reccommend this tour to anyone whether a first time visitor or a San Francisco regular. |

Realize that larger group makes more money for tour but would have been more enjoyable with 10-12 instead (hard to hear, harder to navigate busy sidewalks, etc....) . Dim Sum restaurant good- but presentation could have been more fun (carts etc...). Enjoyed learning history of Chinatown- a plus. Very good to have a guide that grew up and lives in Chinatown- good perspective. He was a very good guide- great sense of humor, etc... |

The People We Met Made It a Memorable Experience

Our guide was personable, knowledgeable, sincere and passionate about her community. She was able to convey a lifetime of experience and history of the community from personal and family stories. She was a treasure and a true elder spokesperson for the international community centered around Chinatown. The tea and lunch were very good as well, but for us the people we met were what really made this tour stand out. |
