Lola Hom was a great tour leader. She shared her personal experiences of growing up in Chinatown, making it an authentic experience. I enjoyed seeing things I've never seen before, even though I've been going to Chinatown for 20 years.

I thought our guide brought a lot to the tour as a former Chinatown resident. She managed to bring us to many places in a short period of time - a temple, a tea shop, the market, etc. I should also add she was very helpful to a man in a motorized wheelchair on our tour. Great job all around!

I had taken the Wok Wiz tour before with my daughter. This time was with husband. It was different both times, enjoyable and informative. Certainly not too strenuous, and lunch was good.

We had gone on several Chinatown tours before (both in San Francisco and elsewhere) but this was really an outstanding experience. We heartily recommend this for locals and out-of-towners as a really fun experience.

We've been to San Francisco many times, but never really spent much time in Chinatown. We learned so much about early California, San Francisco, and Chinatown. We loved exploring all the stores and alleys, especially the Red Blossom Tea Shop. Lunch was wonderful and a great way to end an amazing experience.

We really enjoyed our tour of Chinatown. The first visit was to a Chinese tea-shop. As we're English we are great tea drinkers but have never tried green tea before and this visit was an eye-opener. We learnt a great deal about tea in a short space of time from a very knowledgeable host and shop owner, tried and sampled green tea and understood more about the Chinese tea ceremony. The lunch at the end of the tour was great value for money and we tried a number of foods that we had not experienced before. Alberta the host was great fun to listen and learn from and I highly recommend this tour. It exceeded our expectations.

This tour gave us the confidence to walk into any type of shop in Chinatown. We never would have dreamed about walking into an herbalist shop, or the food shops before. The historical stories of the area, and personal stories were enlightening. However, if you have eaten a lot of Chinese food before, skip the lunch. In the tours efforts to please everyone, the food is pretty standard Chinese.

As a Californian, I have been to SF's Chinatown many times--just walked through--looked in shops. This is a completely different experience from that! This is behind the scenes look at Chinese American culture--foods in the markets, what they are and how to cook them--Chinese tea, how to make it right and what to look for--Chinese herbalist, what and why they are used. You will never walk through Chinatown the same again. Do this. It seemed a bit pricey when I signed up; but it is worth every cent.

My husband and I had a great time- we enjoyed the other participants and especially enjoyed the guide, Chuck. Chuck had many anecdotes about having grown up in Chinatown and was thoroughly knowledgable, friendly and a darling man. We were totally surprised at the size of the lunch and the quality was excellent too. I highly recommend this tour.
