Excellent

Our tour guide was Dorothy Quong (sorry for the misspelling). She did an excellent job and I'm very glad we took the tour. I had friends that thought it was a waste of money, but touring without all the historical background and other info just wouldn't have been good. I would recommend your tour to anyone that was visiting San Francisco. Mary

Shirley is a caring, dynamic person and shares her love of the community with her visitors. This gives a great insight to Chinatown. Don't even think about not doing the dim sum lunch-it was fabulous!

I've been on many walking tours...in New York, Paris and Texas. I would recommend this one--it is reasonably priced with a substantial and delicious lunch at the end of the tour. The guide was knowledgeable, humorous, and gracious. I've been to Chinatown many times, but the historical and personal information made it much more meaningful. Another bonus was the interesting and fun people on the tour. Go and Enjoy!!!

Our tour guide Dorothy did an amazing job. Literally a lifelong resident, born in a tenement house in one of Chinatown's legendary alleys, she really knew every street, alley, nook, and cranny of the area, and was able to put everything in a perspective that outlined the history and significance of everything we saw. She introduced us to the shopkeepers and vendors who are the city's heartbeat, and even just to friends she encountered on the street. You definitely come away with a profound sense of the nature of this city-within-a-city and with a greater understanding of how it fits into the wonderful tapestry (or "salad bowl") that is San Francisco. And all throughout she told the story with humor and personality. We fell in love in love with her, and with Chinatown through her eyes. Oh, and the Dim Sum lunch was tasty too!

Enjoyable walk through Chinatown

We had an enjoyable walk through SF Chinatown and learned a little about its culture and history. I would have liked a more detailed focus on the history, but that might be for another tour. Our favorite part of the event was sharing the dimsum with the tour leaders and the other tourists from Southern California, Texas, and Montreal.

Our group of 8 "girls" thoroughly enjoyed the Wok Wiz tour. It was informative, educational, interesting, and lots of fun. Highly recommend this to someone who wants to really experience Chinatown. Note: this is my 3rd Wok Wiz tour and I have learned something new on each and every tour. Thanks!

We had a great time on our tour. Our guide was informative and entertaining. I have been to Chinatown several times and she enlighten us with tidbits I had never know before. One of our favorite stops was the teas shop. However, we would have liked a couple of extra stops on the route to really round out the tour. Lunch was tasty though a bit on the light side. Again, we had a great time. We are already looking forward to the Chow Ciao.

It was great to have a tour guide who had grown up in Chinatown...very informative and educational, plus we loved walking through the markets and learning about the different vegetables and foods. The lunch afterwards was awesome, too! What fun to share a table with Shirley and try all sorts of different dishes. We will definitely recommend this tour to our friends.

Hidden Treasures

Lola is an excellent guide through Chinatown. We loved to hear her stories and insights. She showed us an old phone book and a booklet with which she learnt to write Chinese. Ross Alley is a real treasure with the fortune cookie factory and the barber playing an ancient instrument. It would have been great if we could have sampled some of the Golden Gate Bakery goodies, also more explanation on produce as we walked by stores would have been nice. Sampling in the tea store was a wonderful way of getting an intro into the tradition of tea preparation. Aside of the fact that it poured down on us for the first 2 hours, we fully enjoyed the walk tour through Chinatown and it opened our eyes for the traditions and history of Chinese people in San Francisco. We already recommended your tour to several of our friends.
