Alberta was our guide and she entertained us for 3 hours with tales of Chinatown thru the years. The tour was informative and fun and our meal at the end was quite enjoyable.

this was a fun and informative view of Chinatown. The tea shop was excellent and provided a lot of information I did not know. The lunch was delicious and the group as a whole was friendly and enjoyable !

i loved this tour, our guide, herman young, did a great job of really personalizing our tour with his life experiences. we loved getting to eat dim sum, going to the temple and checking out the fresh markets. he was a great guide and the 3 hours went by SOOOO quickly. i definitely recommend this tour to anyone wanting to experience chinatown from an insider's perspective.

no crowds and a lot of attention

Perhaps because of potential rains, we had a very small group, which made the tour feel not like a crowd, but rather, a walk around Chinatown with a couple of friends. We never had to negotiate our way to the front of the group to hear what our guide was saying, nor did we have to wait for the end of the group to catch up as it was such an intimate group. This also gave us the ability to squeeze into some of the smaller shops and see exactly what was going on. And we never got a raindrop!

My wife suggested touring Chinatown and I was only lukewarm on the idea. However, Frank made it a delightful way to spend three hours. His enthusiasm was incredible - almost felt like it was his first group to have been shown the sights. The fact he lived much of his life in Chinatown added the kind of insight one does not get from books or other literature. We didn't care too much for the lunch selections, but it was still interesting to have visited a dim sum restaurant. We've taken many tours over the years and this one rates amongst our best!

Our Wok Wiz host, Shirley Fong Torres is not only extrememly knowledgeable, but warm, friendly and caring. Shirley delivered a wealth of information that was fact-filled and colorful, and she told great stories that demonstrated her experience and humor. We had an excellent time, and enjoyed every bite of our sumptuous dim sum lunch.

We hoped, as WokWiz advertised, that we'd get to see China Town and the tour would be interesting. Instead, we stood way too long in front of plaques, were taken to shops our guide was only trying to give business to (LOW quality, boring shops), never had the tea tasting, and didn't get to see much other than the doorway to the home our guide was born in, the restaurant our guide's family used to own, the guy our guide dated when she was 14. Down the block and around the corner is a really interesting sight...One block down is this amazing clinker brick building -- but do you think we could see any of these things? The kids on our tour literally looked like they were about to drop dead of boredom. If you want to stand for two hours being bored to death, pressured to buy junk, and hardly walk anywhere, take this tour.

We had a WokWiz tour with Chuck Gee. He was funny, interesting and really knew the answer to all questions asked. We really enjoyed ChinaTown and its strong history and wonderful business people that allowed us to see their day to day business. The restaurant served a variety of foods for us to eat of excellent quality. I wish we could have had our own itinerary for later use. It would have been much easier to retrace our steps and return to some of the businesses for purchases. We were asked to share because of a short supply. That is the only negative. It was such a great tour we would love to go on another offered tour by this group.
