Chef Shirley Fong-Torres, owner of WOK WIZ, designed her tours to showcase one of the most remarkable neighborhoods in San Francisco. Every tour leader on Shirley's team was either born in, or grew up in Chinatown, giving a very local flavor to the tour, and each speaks fluent English as well as Chinese, which helps a great deal in communicating our needs to the primarily Chinese-speaking business people in the area.
Shirley has been in business for over 20 years, is a former middle and high school teacher, and was a corporate manager for Levi Strauss & Co. She is the author of four books, is a regular guest on the Food Channel, and the History and Discovery Channels, FINE LIVING TV, and has been featured in the NY Times, LA Times, Bon Appetit, Gourmet, and Cooking Light.

Sun Neen Fy Lok, Gung Hay Fot Choy!
Join us for a mid-afternoon stroll as we highlight the Lunar New Year's traditions and history, and explain the beautiful flowers and couplets you see all over San Francisco's Chinatown during this exciting time of year. We may even get to experience a lion dance or two!
On the tour you will:
- Learn about the history, folklore, culture and food of America's largest Chinatown, specifically as it pertains to the Lunar New Year.
- Drop by a Taoist and Buddhist temple
- Enjoy a visit to a Chinese teashop
- Peek down sidestreets and alleyways, following the heady scent of a Chinese herbal shop
- And, after the tour, share a hosted Lunar New Year banquet with food to assure happiness and good fortune for the new year!
