ENJOYABLE

My husband and I wanted to do something different. We've been to San Francisco numerous times, but have never ventured into Chinatown. The tour was very informative and Dorothy, the tour guide, was marvelous. We had a great time, learned quite a bit of history, and I will book another tour with Wok Wiz with my other family members the next time were in the area.

My husband and I recently took the Wok Wiz Chinatown tour while visiting San Francisco. Do not miss this intimate, educational and fun opportunity to experience Chinatown. Our tour guide Dorothy was the best, enthusiastic and extremely knowledgable about her home city. I would highly recommend this tour, it is the only way to get an inside look at the chinese people, their culture and history. Most of all, do not miss the finale... the luncheon, it was a perfect way to end a wonderful tour. The food and service will be like nothing you will get anywhere else in Chinatown. Thanks Dorothy!

Dorthy made the tour even more informative and enjoyable with her personal accounts of being born and raised in Chinatown. A lovely woman and tour guide.

An excellent tour - informative and fun.

I really enjoyed this tour as it was given by someone who had grown up in Chinatown and really knew it well. He took us to all the expected places but also told us a lot of interesting details that only a local would know. He was very friendly and we felt able to ask him questions as we went around. I found the visit to the tea shop particularly interesting and returned later for a longer look around. I was able to do this as we were given a map of the places we had visited on the tour and most of us then used this to confidently wander round Chinatown by ourselves. This was particularly important to me because I had had to leave my husband sick in bed and attended the tour on my own. Thank you very much Wok Wiz for one of the high points of my vacation.

Dorothy was a great tour guide. She was fun, energetic, and had great information about China town. So far I haven't stopped talking about the fun time I had.

I very much enjoyed this tour, in particular all the little personal stories of the tour guide. I had expected a bit more of a "foodie" perspective on the tour with focus on explaining the ingredients and cuisine of Chinatown. But it was nevertheless a very good experience.

Save yourself time, take the self-guided tour

The tour was something anyone could do on their own. Get a walking map of Chinatown and follow the well marked guide points. The food at the restaurant was mediocre at best, and after paying $$$ for the tour and food, we were made to feel as if we should leave a gratuity at the restaurant. This should have been included in the tour fee and covered by our initial registration fee with Wiz Wok to the restaurant. This did not include the gratuity we left for our guide, so we were out of pocket an additional $20 after the tour fee.

If you have the opportunity to participate in the "I Can't Believe" tour, don't pass it up. Shirley leads this tour personally. You will learn things you didn't know about Chinese food, but also about San Francisco, about Chinatown, and about the Chinese experience in the U. S.

Tour guide was fine Meal was bad

Having eaten in many dim sum establishments, I was suprised at the lack of quality as well as the indifferent serviice. I believe the guide was embarassed by the meal and the treatment. A tour sponsored by a chef should do better.

A Wonderful Way to see Chinatown
Wed, Oct 14  10:00 AM MJConroy Male 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
Our tour guide, Dorothy, was wonderful.A native of Chinatown, she showed us the building she was born in. She took us into several businesses that were run by the 3rd generation of a family where she knew all 3 generations. We got a fascinating history lesson of the neighborhood and learned all kinds of things we never would have learned on our own, like the pagoda-style building that is know a bank that used to be the telephone exchange and the unique way calls were received up until 1950. We had a wonderful tea tasting and lesson in tea making. We got to see the alleys and learn their histories. We visited several interesting stores that had good buys and not just tourist-item places. Our lunch was much better than I had expected it would be and Dorothy did a great job of explaining everything and in providing chopstick instruction. This was one of the highlights of our trip to San Francisco.

The tour was fun and exceeded expectation. Our tour director, Dorothy, was, at age 75 with eighteen years experience, fun and knowledgeable. Zerve requiring me as a traveling tourist to sign up on your site and especially print out an e-ticket will keep me from using you in the future. You could advise the vendor of my name etc rather than me take a voucher. Your rep got what I felt was way more information than was needed to book a simple tour, at least have the tour director use it to identify me to keep me from having to sign up on a site (Zerve), that I have no interest in and then have to find a printer to boot while traveling.
