| The tour guide was somewhat informative, but the talk wasn't all that interesting. the food was good. The guide asked if anyone had dietary restrictions; no one did, but the menu was pre-selected so I am not sure what they do if anyone does have dietary restrictions. I think we could have done just as well walking through Chinatown ourselves. This tour may have been better if our tour guide was more professional and dynamic. We would not recommend this tour. Our children (age 11, 17)did not like it. | ||||||

| Hank was an amazing tour guide and new Chinatown very well. He shared many interesting stories and we learned alot! This was my second time on this tour (first time was 10 years ago) and they are still delivering a unique experience. We learned a little bit of the chinese language, sampled herbal teas from china, observed fortune cookies being made, toured the temple, and experienced sights and smells of the neighborhood just like the locals. The dim sum lunch was very good as well. The restaurant was clean and provided excellent service. I'm generally a picky eater but our guide explained all of the food to us and gave tips on the cultural etiquette. This is an experience not to be missed! | ||||||

| Chuck Gee was a very informative and interesting tour guide, although the tour was very limited in range and scope. I was very disappointed in the food which was advertised as a DIm Sum lunch. Of all of the dishes served only 2 could be considered Dim Sum the rest of the food was conventional Chinese. It was cold when served and only average quality. I would definitely not recommend this tour. | ||||||

| My daughter (11 years old) and I enjoyed the tour and lunch. We learned so much about Chinatown. We loved walking through the back alleys and going into the unusual places such as the Budist Temple, Herbal Medicine Shop and the Jade store. The tour guide, Dorothy, was fantastic with all of her little antidotes about living in Chinatown. The tour ended in a wonderful Dim Sum restaurant with more food than could be eaten!! I highly recommend this tour to families with children over 10 due to the walking and the amount of information shared by the guide. | ||||||

| Hank took us around. He was a wonderful guide. My teenage girls immediately called their friends to describe the live chickens, the squid hanging in the window, etc. Though they are a difficult audience, there was enough of interest to keep their attention. They ate more of the food than I thought they would. My husband and I enjoyed it a lot. We wouldn't have ever known what Hank told us about the food preparation, the gambling at the park, the way the butcher shop functioned, the things we saw at the Buddhist temple. I loved the Red Blossom Tea House as well, and came away with teas, cups, infusers. We ate very well and had a lovely time. | ||||||

We were disappointed that Shirley did not lead the Wok Wiz Daily Tour |

| We were disappointed that Shirley did not lead the tour in person. She has a group of guides that she uses when she is not available. Our guide gave us history of the Chinese American experience and that was interesting, but what we wanted from the tour was to visit food shops, kitchens and dining facilities in Chinatown. We did not do that so we did not receive what we expected | ||||||

| My group leader on 6/10/06 was not very engaging. He was some what knowledgable, but ran on, and on, and on, leaving one tired of listening. Not all of his information was of interest. Also there was very little walking, mostly standing. Seeing more of the area would of been nice. The resturant was adequate but not special, some dishes a bit flat. Wish it was all a bit better, since I was looking forward to it, and invited a friend. A local resident | ||||||

| This tour is a must for anyone visiting San Francisco. It provides an interesting mini-history of the city and the Chinese community, plus close-up looks at Chinatown's parks, buildings - including a temple - and food stores. The lunch at the end is a treat. Our guide - Chuck - was superb. He is a storehouse of all types of information, and his presentation of that information was filled with humor and charm. I enjoyed the tour so much, in fact, that I plan to take it again on my next visit to San Francisco, and to take some friends along. | ||||||

| The tour took us through many important areas in the town and the guide never ran out of things to teach us about every one of them. Many places that you would not think to even look at turned out to be great social centers that really give you the effect of being in a town where people live, not just work. And just as importantly a great deal was learned about the overall installation and effect of the town and people through the history of San Fransisco. The tour was offered with the option for lunch afterwards. GO! Overall a great way to spend a few hours and you'll know where to go when you return. With twenty-four square blocks it's good to know what's what. | ||||||

| I thought the tour was informative and educational. I liked Alberta's insight into Chinatown and she had many personal stories to share with us. I felt she was available and approachable for questions. I have already recommended this tour to family that is visiting this summer. | ||||||

| I thought this tour was excellent! Our tour guide, Dorothy, showed us all of the sights of Chinatown, and having grown up there, she knew all the places to visit. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting San Francisco, and would do it again when in San Francisco next. | ||||||

| Everything about this experience was first rate, from the on-line registration via your web site, to the efficient gathering and grouping at your office, right through to the excellent lunch. Our tour guide (Chuck?) was outstanding. He was extremely knowledgeable, humorous, engaging and did a fine job to accommodate a handicapped gentleman who was part of the group. This was an excellent tour and we'd recommend it to everyone! | ||||||

Chinatown through the eyes of a chef. Wok Wiz Daily Tour |

| We had a wonderful tour of Chinatown with Hank, a retired professional chef and restaurateur. He showed us the restaurant his family used to own and run, and described the many tasks he performed as a young man while working in the family business. We toured many food establishments and learned from Hank the ingredients and techniques used to prepare many of the dishes. He provided insights into Chinatown as it exists today and as it was in the 1960s. It was fascinating to visit what used to be the Chinese Opera and see how it must have looked when it was in its prime. All in all, a very good tour! | ||||||

A Fun Tour with Kids Wok Wiz Daily Tour |

| Sat, May 27, 06 10:00 AM | k2kplano | Female | 40-49 | Domestic Tourist(s) | Family With Children | |
| I took the tour with my 9yr old daughter. There were 4 other mother/daughter pairs in our group so we probably had a slightly different experience with all the kids. Dorothy was our guide. As others have noted she does spend a lot of time telling stories about her life, but I thought it added a lot to the charm of the tour. If you just want someone to point out landmarks you should probably pick another tour. The walking is easy and the time goes by quickly. The kids especially liked the temple and the herb shop. Make sure you have dollar bills to donate at the temple so you can get a little good luck bag. I only had $20's and my daughter was not pleased she missed out. I have been to Chinatown several times before but had only stuck to Grant Ave. You'll go down lots of little side streets and alleys and get a good feel for what life is really like there. The lunch was good, but not all Dim Sum as others have mentioned. Dorothy explained they get a lot of customers who haven't had much Chinese food so they try to provide a basic sampling so everyone gets something they like. I thought it was well worth the money and it was my daughter's favorite activity during our 5 day stay in SF. | ||||||
