We thoroughly enjoyed our morning with Gimmy and were really lucky to be the only two on the tour that day. Gimmy was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and provided a real insight into the history and present day life of Chinatown. The time spent tasting tea and learning about its incredible variety (it's as complex as malt whisky which made for a fascinating discussion) was a highlight. We also managed to call into the Cable Car museum - a must-see free site that allows you to understand the simplicity of the system. I'd happily recommend Wok Wiz and if you get the option - ask for Gimmy! |

All 3 of us loved this tour! Dorothy made the entire experience make you feel like you were there when the area was being settled. The information about the buildings, businesses, and people helped to make it a personal account of life in China Town, but with complete professionalism. She is your gem! |

We learned a lot from the tour about tea, Chinese history and cultural in San Fransico. We did have a young child (4 years old) and it was a stretch for her patience, but our guide did a great job trying to include her in the process. |

We are two local San Franciscans, and I had my mother visiting from Ohio. We knew we wanted dim sum, so it was perfect to make that the conclusion of a delightful walking tour of Chinatown. My husband and I both learned a lot of new information about our city and, embarrassingly, I experienced Chinatown for the first time. And my mother had a blast! She and our fantastic guide, Dorothy Quock, were like two peas in a pod. Dorothy could not have been more charming or knowledgeable. The stops in the tea shop, herbal pharmacy and local grocery were particularly fun. I highly recommend taking the time to enjoy a leisurely morning in a special part of downtown San Francisco! |

This is the second time I've taken this tour and I will do it again in a flash. Our tour guide, Emily, had wonderful information and fun facts, even for me, and I have lived here all of my life. Great! Don't stop providing this fun and inexpensive way to spend a day. |

This was a fun tour. A little disorganized, but we covered a lot of ground. Got to see the Fortune Cookie Factory and had a little tea sampling at the specialty tea store. We also got to go into an old Buddist temple and checked out a couple of playgrounds. I think the tour gave us a lot of information and insight that we would have missed just walking through on our own. |

We had the greatest tour guide with Frank given his unique perspective as a former resident. An awesome experience and the only way to fullly appreciate the unique intricacies of Chinatown. Our group loved it! |

I've wanted to take this tour for ages and finally got a small group together to celebrate a friend's birthday. The tour was fun, with a light dose of Chinatown history, walks down alleys I had not been down (in 39 years in the area), pleasant company in our group, and a personable guide. I've recommended it to others! |

We spent an enjoyable three hours getting to understand the culture and sites of Chinatown, culminating in a wonderful sampling of Chinese food for lunch. Great way to get an overview of this unique section of San Francisco. |

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of China Town with Emily. The tour gave us a real insiders look at life as a Chinese American living in the city. We loved all of the shops and especially liked the tea tasting. Lunch was delicious. Well worth the time and money. |

Id done this many years ago and brought my 11 year old grand daughter. We both enjoyed the entire tour. Although the decor of the restaurant was pretty elegant for the neighborhood, the food was only so so |

We traveled with our granddaughter. Not only did we see parts of Chinatown we would not have seen if not for our guide but we were pleased to learn some wonderful history of San Francisco and the important role the Chinese immigrants played in the history of the United States.
Our guide Dorothy was a most informative and delightful woman. When we asked our granddaughter about the trip she thought it was wonderful and thoroughly enjoyed it. High praise from a sixteen year old. The tea tasting was a highlight as was the luncheon. Visiting traditional shops rather than the tourist ones and meeting the owners and learning to say "hello" and "thank you" in Chinese was a nice touch.
Rather than a large group we were with two others on the walk and I think that made a difference.
Thank you for a wonderful experience. |
