| This tour is a must for anyone visiting San Francisco. It provides an interesting mini-history of the city and the Chinese community, plus close-up looks at Chinatown's parks, buildings - including a temple - and food stores. The lunch at the end is a treat. Our guide - Chuck - was superb. He is a storehouse of all types of information, and his presentation of that information was filled with humor and charm. I enjoyed the tour so much, in fact, that I plan to take it again on my next visit to San Francisco, and to take some friends along. | ||||||

| The tour took us through many important areas in the town and the guide never ran out of things to teach us about every one of them. Many places that you would not think to even look at turned out to be great social centers that really give you the effect of being in a town where people live, not just work. And just as importantly a great deal was learned about the overall installation and effect of the town and people through the history of San Fransisco. The tour was offered with the option for lunch afterwards. GO! Overall a great way to spend a few hours and you'll know where to go when you return. With twenty-four square blocks it's good to know what's what. | ||||||

| I thought the tour was informative and educational. I liked Alberta's insight into Chinatown and she had many personal stories to share with us. I felt she was available and approachable for questions. I have already recommended this tour to family that is visiting this summer. | ||||||

| I thought this tour was excellent! Our tour guide, Dorothy, showed us all of the sights of Chinatown, and having grown up there, she knew all the places to visit. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting San Francisco, and would do it again when in San Francisco next. | ||||||

| Everything about this experience was first rate, from the on-line registration via your web site, to the efficient gathering and grouping at your office, right through to the excellent lunch. Our tour guide (Chuck?) was outstanding. He was extremely knowledgeable, humorous, engaging and did a fine job to accommodate a handicapped gentleman who was part of the group. This was an excellent tour and we'd recommend it to everyone! | ||||||

| We had a wonderful tour of Chinatown with Hank, a retired professional chef and restaurateur. He showed us the restaurant his family used to own and run, and described the many tasks he performed as a young man while working in the family business. We toured many food establishments and learned from Hank the ingredients and techniques used to prepare many of the dishes. He provided insights into Chinatown as it exists today and as it was in the 1960s. It was fascinating to visit what used to be the Chinese Opera and see how it must have looked when it was in its prime. All in all, a very good tour! | ||||||

A Fun Tour with Kids

| I took the tour with my 9yr old daughter. There were 4 other mother/daughter pairs in our group so we probably had a slightly different experience with all the kids. Dorothy was our guide. As others have noted she does spend a lot of time telling stories about her life, but I thought it added a lot to the charm of the tour. If you just want someone to point out landmarks you should probably pick another tour. The walking is easy and the time goes by quickly. The kids especially liked the temple and the herb shop. Make sure you have dollar bills to donate at the temple so you can get a little good luck bag. I only had $20's and my daughter was not pleased she missed out. I have been to Chinatown several times before but had only stuck to Grant Ave. You'll go down lots of little side streets and alleys and get a good feel for what life is really like there. The lunch was good, but not all Dim Sum as others have mentioned. Dorothy explained they get a lot of customers who haven't had much Chinese food so they try to provide a basic sampling so everyone gets something they like. I thought it was well worth the money and it was my daughter's favorite activity during our 5 day stay in SF. | ||||||

| The food was pretty good and a good variety. There was some information about the food and Chinatown. We would have preferred much more information about both. Shirley was very energetic, very nice, and gave individual attention to everyone in the group. And it was a great group. | ||||||

| We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly and were pleased to have Shirley in the flesh as our guide! We would never have gone down all those alleys on our own! It was fun and a real adventure. In one shop two older Chinese ladies pressured me till I purchased some dried red little things and I don't even know what they are! The food was great, too, although not the dim sum restuarant I expected. I expected the waitresses serving from carts as I read they do in the authentic restaurants - the food was great just a bit more ordinary than I expected - no octopus or squid! A fun morning - I'd do it again! | ||||||

| I went with my husband and 6 yr old son and 8 month old son. The walking tour was great with lots of interesting history. I brought a stroller + baby bjorn carrier and diaper bag with milk. The walking was fine for both of my kids. I do not think we 'slowed' the group down a bit (mine were the only kids). The terrain was for the most part stroller friendly although at times we lifted it up some steps. Recommend a lightweight stroller if you bring one. When the baby woke up from his nap, I strapped him to me in the baby bjorn, and gave him a bottle. Highly recommend the tour part. We ended at a Dim Sum restaurant. I thought the food was greasy and not the best tasting, but then I'm used to eating only great food in San Francisco! | ||||||

| We found this tour while looking at trip advisor. The tour is a great way to see the sights and sounds of china town many of which you could miss without the expert tour guides. Many thanks to Hank our guide and the dim sum lunch was excellent!!!! | ||||||
