The Urban AdvenTours Paul Revere Ride to Freedom follows the path of Paul Revere's famous midnight ride. On this special edition tour, bicycles replace horses as you ride back in time and recount the opening days of the American Revolution hour by hour over a 25 mile route. There's no better way to experience Boston's famous past than the up-close perspective of a bicycle.
This extensive tour brings you to all the major points on Revere's ride, including:
The North End
The Old North Church
Lexington Green Battle Road
North Bridge in Concord
The ride starts in Boston and takes you along the popular Minuteman Bike Path. After trekking out to the location of the first battle of the American Revolution, the Battle of Lexington and Concord, take a well-deserved train ride back to Boston. This ride is open to everyone, but riders must be able to maintain pace for the duration of the tour. Our knowledgeable and friendly guides will ensure you have a fun and comfortable ride. Tour includes individually fitted bikes, helmets, and water for all guests.
This tour is available by appointment only. For private and group tours please contact Urban AdvenTours directly at 617-670-0637 or Info@UrbanAdvenTours.com

Meeting Location
The North End (Boston, MA)
(Exact meeting location details will be provided immediately upon purchase of tickets.)
- Are Urban AdvenTours for all levels of riders?
- You don't need to be Lance Armstrong to enjoy an Urban AdvenTours ride - but please keep in mind that this ride covers 25 miles and some of it will be on city streets. You should be confident in riding this distance and able to maintain the pace of the group.
- Are the tours safe?
- Yes. Urban AdvenTours is a fully insured company. Be sure to arrive 30 minutes prior to departure time for bike adjustments and to ensure a safe and secure helmet fit. All bikes and helmets are brightly colored for high visibility and fully outfitted with headlights and reflective strips. The number of guides per tour is based on the number of participants riding to keep the tour safe and protected while moving at a comfortable pace. We usually have a ratio of one guide per six riders. UA staff can also provide advice for safe city riding.
- Do I have to purchase tickets in advance?
- Advance purchase is strongly recommended, as tours often sell out quickly. To maximize your chances of getting the day and time you prefer, please buy your tickets well in advance, either online or by phone. Tickets can be purchased through Zerve with a Visa, Mastercard or American Express.
- Am I required to sign a waiver?
- Yes. It is a requirement that all individuals participating with Urban AdvenTours agree to sign a waiver. If you are under the age of 18, your parent or legal guardian must sign for you. A waiver will be provided to each participant to sign before the tour by your street guide.
- How long do the tours last?
- The tour generally lasts 4 hours, not including the train ride back.
- Where does the tour end?
- The tour will end in Concord Square, which is located west of Boston. Your guide will accompany you back to the commuter rail for the ride back into Boston, but you are responsible for your own train fare.
- How long is the train ride back?
- The train ride from Concord Square to the North Station will take approximately 40 minutes.
- How much does the train ride back cost?
- The commuter rail costs $6.25 per person.
- Where does the train drop you off?
- The commuter rail will drop passengers off at the North Station, which is located within a few hundred yards of our shop.
- How much money should I bring?
- While you should definitely bring at least $6.25 to cover the cost of the commuter rail to get back to the North End, it is always a good idea to bring a little extra cash in case you'd like to pick up a snack during the tour or grab a bite to eat afterward. While not required, tip for your tour guides is also always greatly appreciated.
- Will there be food and beverages served on the tour?
- Urban AdvenTours will supply each rider with water, though you will have to bring or purchase your own lunch.
- Will there be a stop during the tour to eat lunch?
- While there is no scheduled stop during the tour to grab lunch, we can always stop for a light snack along the way if everyone would like to. That said, there are plenty of great restaurants in the North End after you return your bikes.
- Can we ride our bikes back to the meeting location?
- If you would like to inquire about keeping your bikes as a rental at the conclusion of the tour, please click the "Contact AdvenTours" link to make special arrangements.
- Does the evening tour run after dark?
- Yes, sometimes the evening tour does run after dark. The city has an entirely different feel at night, and the lights make for amazing photo opportunities. If you are taking the evening tour, be sure to bring an extra jacket or sweater as the temperature can dip quite a bit after sunset in Boston.
- What if there is rain or inclement weather?
- The tour will typically run in a light rain, but not in more severe or unsafe weather conditions. If AdvenTours needs to cancel the tour, we will contact you on the day of the tour to reschedule your tickets to another time that is convenient for you. Please be sure the local (or cell phone) number you provide when buying your tickets is accurate.
- Are there bathroom stops on the tour?
- There are no set bathroom stops on the tour.
- What happens if a bike is lost or stolen during a tour or rental?
- The customer is liable for the bicycle and will be responsible for the full retail cost of the bike rented.
- Are children welcome on the tour?
- Children are welcome on the tour, but keep in mind that this is a longer tour, and many children will not have the stamina or attention span for this ride. Kid bikes, "trailer" bikes, and child seats are all available.
- What special arrangements can be made for my children to take the tour?
- The best thing you can do for your children is to book a private tour! After you have done that, we will be able to provide your child with a "pint sized" bicycle or a towing attachement for parents with toddlers. Click the "Contact AdvenTours" link to inquire about taking a tour with your children.
- What kinds of child attachments available for the bikes?
- Please contact us directly via the "Contact AdvenTours" link to inquire about attachments. We have child seats (attach to an adult's bike on a rack right behind the adult over the rear; for kids too young to ride a bike), Trail-a-bikes (attach to an adult’s bike on the seat post for children who are big enough to ride a bike, but may not be able to ride a without training wheels confidently or handle the pacing of a tour), and Burley trailers (can carry up to two children and up to 100 pounds, but are not available on public tours). Please contact us via the "Contact AdvenTours" link to inquire. Thank you!
- Can I take my video camera on the tour?
- Absolutely.
- Can I bring my own bike on the tour?
- Yes, but only if the bike is in top-notch condition! (We do reserve the right to turn you away or ask you to use one of ours if your bike is not in good enough shape). There is no discounted rate for bringing your own bike, but we will give you a FREE Urban AdvenTours t-shirt upon arrival!
- Can I rent a bike?
- Yes, rentals are available through Zerve for advance purchase.
- Are gift certificates available?
- Absolutely. There is no better gift for a new student or new resident in the Boston area. It is a great way to help them become more acclimated to the city. Gift certificates are also great birthday, thank you, and anniversaries gifts. To purchase a gift certificate, please click on the "Contact AdvenTours" link.
- Do you offer custom private group tours?
- Yes. We welcome custom group tours which can be from 5 to 30 people in size. For large groups, we split up for safety and service reasons. Custom tours are great for convention goers, corporations, and student groups. To arrange a group tour, please click on the "Contact AdvenTours" link to the left of the page.
- What if I am a local Bostonian? Do I have anything to gain from one of your tours?
- Of course! All of the locals who have taken our tours have said they learned something new, whether it be a new landmark or a new route. It is a unique offering that will leave your guests thanking you for taking them off the beaten path of traditional tours.
- What is the maximum number of people on a tour?
- Our tours generally range from 2-10 people for safety and customer service reasons. We are able to split up larger groups that would like to leave at the same time.
