What is a limousine (limo) or stretched limousine?
A limousine is a top of the line luxury vehile built to entertain and transport passengers in style. Stretched Limousines are vehicles that have been modified from their original form to accomodate more passengers and add more luxuries. Limousines are the classiest way to tour in New York City with the same luxury as your favorite Sex and the City characters!
If the tour is sold out, is there a waiting list?
No, On Location Tours does not keep a waiting list for our sold out tours. We only have waiting lists for tours that have not yet met their minimum. However, our tours usually sell out, and often well in advance, so please make sure to purchase your tickets far in advance, especially if you have limited time availability.
Is the limo tour public/shared?
Yes, this limo tour is not private and you will be with other people--a great way to meet new people who also love Sex and the City!
Where does the tour finish?
The Sex and the City Tour usually ends either at the original meeting location (5th Avenue, between 58th and 59th Streets), or at the bar Tao which is a couple of blocks away on 58th Street.
Are we on the limo the whole tour?
Absolutely not. The tour takes place on a limo since the locations are spread out all around Manhattan. But we get off the limo at a number of locations along the way, giving you the opportunity to experience the locations and take pictures. Whenever you leave the limo, it is with the tour guide. The tour includes a mix of on-the-limo viewings of locations and stops to get off the limo to explore, all woven into the Sex and the City story by your tour guide.
What exact locations do we visit?
The exact itinerary and route of the tour varies somewhat from tour to tour, so we can't say ahead of time exactly which locations will be visited on a specific tour. There are usually 3-4 scheduled stops on each tour, including various bars, shops, and other locations such as Carrie's apartment - but tour routes may differ from tour to tour. You will be provided with a handout that lists all of the real-life locations on the tour so you can revisit them at your leisure afterwards.
Is there an age limit on this tour?
Yes, all attendees must be at least 18 years of age. There are several locations featured on the tour that have minimum age requirements that must be met to enter.
Do you have any special packages for bachelorette or birthday parties?
Yes! We have a very special “kit” made exclusively for the Sex and the City Hotspots tour by the Pleasure Chest (the store where Charlotte bought her Rabbit). It’s filled with all kinds of fun toys for the bride-to-be. f you are interested in a private tour, we have the Carrie and the Samantha. The Carrie includes a private Sex and the City tour, a Pleasure Chest kit for the bride-to-be, an extra stop at one of the bars used as a location in the show, and dinner at Brasserie. Is there ever a circumstance when a location is omitted from the tour?
While it is extremely rare, we do sometimes need to skip or modify certain locations that usually are part of the tour. Since the tour is visiting real-life locations all around Manhattan, the tour's itinerary can sometimes be impacted by traffic conditions, store hours, etc. On Location Tours assumes no liability or responsibility for: traffic conditions, access to sites, or other conditions beyond its control.
Is this also a good general New York City sightseeing tour?
Yes. While the tour's focus is first and foremost on the show Sex and the City, the tour meanders through a variety of New York neighborhoods, and people often find it to be a great overview of the city. The tour usually visits neighborhoods such as SoHo, Greenwich Village, Chelsea, 5th Avenue and more. So even though the tour does not visit such New York sightseeing regulars as the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, etc, it is still a great way to tour Manhattan and get to understand the city and its layout.
Can I bring some wine, beer, Cosmos, etc on the limo?
On Location Tours does not provide alcohol during the tour and it is not permitted in the limousine. However we usually stop at one of the bars for Cosmos, so if you're interested in joining in, please make sure to bring sufficient cash and a valid ID.
Is alcohol included in the tour?
When we stop at a bar that was used in the show, you will have the opportunity to purchase a Cosmopolitan at a discount. On Location Tours cannot include alcohol with the price of the tour, as the company does not have a liquor license.
Can I buy Sex and the City merchandise on the tour?
No, this tour does not sell any related merchandise. Your tour guides are Sex and the City and New York experts though...if you tell them what you're looking for, they can usually point you in the right direction.
Are the tours conducted in English only?
While we do offer a special German version of the traditional Sex and the City Bus Tour on Saturdays at 11am, the other scheduled SATC tours are only conducted in English at this time. Since so much of the tour is visual, however, visitors from countries like Japan, Germany, France, Spain, and plenty of others have enjoyed the tour just the same!
Are cameras allowed on the tour?
Yes. While photography and filming are not allowed on the limo portion of the tour, there are some great spots for taking photos and video at our numerous stops along the way.
Are there restrooms on the tour?
Yes, you will have access to restrooms during the stops on the tour when you leave the limo.
Are gift certificates available for this tour?
No, unfortunately there are no gift certificates available for this particular tour. There are, however, gift certificates available for the daytime Sex and the City bus tour, and they make a perfect gift for holidays, birthdays or any other occasion! Can I book a private tour?
Yes, private tours are available. Most groups, however, decide to attend the public tour for two reasons. First, it is usually significantly less expensive. Second, part of the fun of the tour is interacting with all the other Sex and the City fans that take the public tour.
