Segway Tour of the Portland Waterfront |
Do I have to purchase tickets in advance?
Advance purchase is strongly recommended, as tours often sell out quickly. To maximize your chance of getting the day and time you prefer, please book well in advance. You can do this online or over the phone using only Visa, Mastercard or American Express.
Who can ride a Segway?
Anyone physically able to drive a car can ride a Segway as long as they meet the age and weight requirements. All Segway riders must be at least 14 years old, and participants 14 to 17 years of age must have an accompanying legal guardian. Furthermore, all riders must weigh at least 90 pounds in order to participate.
How much time of the tour is spent on the Segway?
There will be a 25 minute presentation explaining the proper and safest way to ride a Segway, and then the tour will last approximately 90 minutes, however we will stop for pictures and breaks along the way.
What are the age requirements / restrictions?
Segway riders must be at least 14 years of age, and riders 14 to 17 years of age must have an accompanying legal guardian with them. Participants 18 years of age and up are welcome to come on their own if they'd like!
What are the weight requirements?
Operators of Segways must weigh at least 90 lbs and less than 280 lbs.
Do you have to wear helmets?
Yes, and helmets are included in the tour price. Adult sizes are available, and we will help you find a well-fitting helmet before the tour starts.
How many people can go on one tour?
We limit the tour size to 8 people maximum in order to keep your experience intimate and informative.
What is the weather policy for the tour?
We run rain or shine, so bring a poncho if it's wet outside. Umbrellas will not work as you will need both hands to operate the Segway.
Will I still enjoy the tour if I'm from the area?
Definitely! The tour is less about exploring the city and more about gliding along Portland's beautiful waterfront in a new and exciting way!
Will we go into any of the featured sites on the tour?
No, we will stay outside for the entirety of the tour. However, we will break for photo opportunities!
Where will the tour take us?
From our starting point, we will glide down the bike path along the east side of Portland's beautiful waterfront. We will cross the steel bridge and venture down the west bank of the Willamette before turning around and returning to our starting point.
Can I buy food or drinks along the way? What about souvenirs?
Unfortunately there will not be time to stop to buy things. Eat a good breakfast and bring a bottle of water!
Are restrooms available?
Yes! We will have two different opportunities on the tour to use the restroom.
Is there a deposit to ride or rent a segway?
Yes. There is a $500 damage deposit. We do require a credit card from each party for this deposit; we just need to know that you have $500 available per machine in case of damage. Segways are kept in new condition and ALL accidental damage will be the responsibility of the rider.
Do I have to sign a liability waiver?
Yes. Segways are fun to ride but we cannot be held liable for accidents and irresponsible riders. There will be a 25 minute presentation explaining the proper and safest way to ride a Segway.
Can I store personal belongings on the Segway?
Each Segway has a small pouch on the front big enough to store a water bottle, camera, and a cell phone but not much more than that. Please only bring what is necessary for the tour.
How fast does the Segway go?
We will start the tour with a speed restriction of 6 MPH but once you are used to your Segway the restriction can be lifted and your machine will top out at 12.5 MPH!
Are the tours conducted in English only?
Yes, English is the only language our tour guides speak!
Where does the tour end?
The tour will end right back where we started.
Can I rent a Segway?
