Garment Center Cheap & Chic Insider Holiday Tour |
How is this tour different than the regular Wednesday & Friday Garment Center Tour?
This is the same tour as our all-year round Garment Center tour. This is simply an added day and time to accomodat those who are in NYC at the beginning of the week during the holiday season
How long is the tour?
The tour runs about 3 hours. Depending on the size of the group, the tour may be a little bit shorter or longer.
How much time do we spend shopping?
This tour is all about shopping. With the exception of the brief walking time between shopping destinations, its all shopping time. While "moving," the tour guide will share the fascinating history of this legendary area and point out any worthy landmarks.
Is transportation included?
No, this is a WALKING TOUR so there is no transportation included. This tour requires a significant amount of walking, so please wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the weather.
What stores will we be shopping in?
Guests will have the rare opportunity to shop in private wholesale showrooms, which is where apparel is designed and sold to stores. These are NOT public venues. You will also visit the best Sample Sale of the day taking place in this neighborhood. There will be approximately 7 stops. All destinations will focus on Women's apparel, accessories, and personal items. Occasionally, there will be mens' items too, but this cannot be guaranteed. Sizing Issues: most showrooms carry traditional sizes. We cannot guarantee that "special sizing" needs can be accommodated. But there are always accessories and non-apparel gift items!
Are there any places to stop and rest along the route?
Yes, a number of our shopping stops have seating, so you can take a break while the rest of the group shops. Plan for an active morning, however, because there is a lot to see and you will be on the move!
Should I tip my guide?
It is a customary and very appreciated gesture to tip your tour guide at the end of the tour.
How many people are on the tour?
We limit the group size to 12 people, as we aim for a high level of personalized attention on all tours. Our guides are trained to provide a significant amount of guide/guest interaction to insure the best possible tour experience.

What age is this recommended for?
The tour is recommended for women ages 16 and older. While we do get younger girls too, we cannot guarantee the offerings will be to their liking.
Can men come on the tour?
Absolutely! Men are welcome to accompany their female partners/friends/daughters (or hold the credit card and bags!). And men often enjoy seeing this neighborhood. HOWEVER, the shopping is dedicated to women's items and while there may be some destinations that carry men's items, we cannot guarantee this.
What about special sizing needs?
Showrooms and Sample Sales carry traditional women's and teen sizes. Occasionally, there are Plus Size items, but this is not the typical offering. However, there are always accessories and gift items to buy!
What kind of currency is accepted at the tour destinations?
Some stores accept cash and credit cards, while some only accept cash. It's best to come prepared with both!
