Do I have to purchase in advance?
Tickets should be purchased in advance as our tours may sell out. To maximize your chances of getting the day and time you prefer, please book well in advance.
Can we take photos during the tour?
Photos can be taken everywhere on the tour, except right outside of the US Naval Academy security gate.
Are there restrooms available on the tour?
Restrooms are available at the tour starting location. We will give you a two-minute warning before departing to use the "necessary". Our exact meeting location will be provided after your ticket purchase.
How long is the tour?
The training and tour lasts for 2 hours .
May I bring my dog on the tour?
No. While we adore pets we are not able to accommodate them on this tour.
What if it rains or the weather is inclement?
The tour is held rain or shine. If the weather is very inclement, e.g. heavy snow or hurricane, the tour may be cancelled. Rescheduling or refunds will be offered in the extremely rare event that the company cancels the tour, but in all other situations, no refunds will be provided. Bring a poncho or rain jacket, not an umbrella, as you will need both hands to operate the Segway.
Who can ride the Segway?
Participants must be at least 14 years old. Riders should have the ability to make motions such as climbing and descending stairs without assistance. Segways are not appropriate for those weighing under 100 pounds or over 260 pounds.
Do I have to sign a waiver?
All Segway riders must sign a liability waiver before participating. Riders under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign for them.
I live in Anne Arundel County - will I enjoy this tour?
Though you may have seen the sights before, you will still enjoy the unique experience of gliding around Annapolis on a Segway and seeing it from a different perspective.
Can I buy food, drinks, or shop along the way?
We recommend you arrive full. We discourage shopping, but occasionally make a purchase stop.
How much time of the tour is actually spent on a Segway?
The majority of your time will be on the Segway. We will start off with a 20 minute training session and then be on the Segway for the remainder of the time. There are no stops unless the tour group would like to stop and rest or take pictures.
Do Segways have the ability to store bags, purses?
Each Segway has a zippered pouch that can accommodate necessary items i.e. cameras, medications, or a medium size purse. All other personal belongs will be kept in the meeting location.
Are the tours conducted in English only?
Yes, the tours are only conducted in English. However, our non-English speaking guests will still enjoy the experience of riding a Segway and seeing the sights.
How do I learn to ride a Segway?
All customers are required to take a 20 minute hands-on training session to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. Riders are trained on Segway i2 operation and emergency stops. All riders are required to wear a safety helmet.
How safe is the Segway i2?
The utmost care and research has gone into ensuring that the Segway i2 is safe. The Segway i2's balancing technology is truly revolutionary and provides an exceptional riding experience. The Segway has redundant systems and sophisticated alerts built into its design, and many thousands of hours of use have demonstrated that the Segway is safe when used appropriately. It is important that Segway riders understand their responsibility to ride safely. Proper skill level and understanding of the Segway prevents injuries caused by loss of control or misuse.
How fast do the Segways go?
Segways can reach speeds of up to 12 mph, however, our tours rarely if ever reach such speeds. The rider has total control of the speed of their Segway.
What exact locations do we visit?
The exact itinerary and route of the tour varies somewhat from tour to tour, so we can't say ahead of time exactly which locations will be visited on a specific tour. We do, however, usually visit as many of the following as possible: Sands House, Creigh House, Brice Houses, Paca House, Hammond-Harwood House, Chase-Lloyd House, Ogle Hall, St. Johns College, Maryland State House, St. Ann's Church, Jonas Green House, Upton-Scott House, Carroll House, Street end parks and City Dock to name a few.
Can I book a private tour?
Yes, private tours are available. Most groups, however, decide to attend the public tour for two reasons. First, it is usually significantly less expensive. Second, part of the fun of the tours is interacting with all the other participants who take the public tour.
