Chinatown Food Tasting & Cultural Walking Tour

Another fantastic tour from Chicago Food Planet! We spent a beautiful Sunday morning trying a variety of Chinese cuisines, tea, and dessert, in addition to learning very interesting aspects of Chinese culture. The tour had a perfect balance of dining to education (Even visited a Buddhist temple!), to walking vs sitting. I can't wait to attend another Chicago Food Planet tour.

We had a wondurful time on our tour. The different styles of foods and tea were all real good. The Guide was well knowledge and such a nice person. My wife and myself learned so much about the different styles of Chinese Food and there culture Thanks Mike

I've enjoyed Chicago Food Planets other tours (Near North & Bucktown/Wicker Park) and this was my first opportunity to experience Chinatown. Jess, our tour guide, did a great job of explaining the culture and food of the various provinces of China. I'm looking forward to the next tour that they develop.

We really enjoyed the Chinatown tour both because we learned about an area that we had not previously explored and because we had an opportunity to try food at a variety of restaurants, good selection. The guide was vary informative and a delightful person. We were very full even before the last stop at the bakery.

Our tour guide, Lisa, was outstanding. Her knowledge of Chinese history, culture an cooking was superb. What an experience. We would do it again when we return to Chicago and would and have recommended to everyone we know.

I came accross the tour on the internet and was a little skeptical when I first read about it. I have lived in Chicago my whole life and had been to Chinatown a couple times before so I wasn't sure if I was going to take anything away from the tour. When the tour was over, we were ecstatic that we had done it. The guide was very friendly and extremely informed on the food and culture. It was educating and tasty at the same time. We really took something away from it and have even revisited one of the restaurants since then.

Our very knowledgable tour guide brought us to five different food/drink spots in Chinatown. We ate food from the various regoins of China, with explanations from our guide about the food we were enjoying and stories to go along with the cuisine. We visited a Buddhist temple and a wonderful herbal shop. It was so well organized, our food, greeters were waiting for us at each stop. I'm a Chicago native and was awed by a very different and unique place so close to my home. I am definitely going back with my family to enjoy the great food and atmosphere.

Great history lesson. Great authentic food. I'm not sure I'll be able to eat the plain local take-out, again.

My husband and I enjoyed the variety of food tastings. Our guide, Jess, was very knowledgeable to Chinatown and many of the customs/traditions. We gained valuable information and had a great time.
