Just real!
Sun, May 23  12:30 PM daganja Male 20-29 International Tourist(s) Group of Friends
We've seen some realy cool spots, like the 5pointz covered with Grafs all over. The famous hollis burger, the best Soulfood I've ever had - and a Hip-Hop museum too. One of the first female MC's was there! The best part was the guide we had, a real ledgend, JDL from the cold crush brothers. He's a guide who realy knows how Hip-Hop came across and how important the 5 elements are (yes Beatboxing is an element too). And we were riding in a limo!!!!!!!!! So if you don't check out the hush tours, you missed something!!!! Shout out from Switzerland Sven aka DJ Gessa and Ueli aka Zamzara MC

Best Hip Hop Tour!

If you love Hip Hop then you will love this tour, if you don't like Hip Hop you will still love this tour! I don't want to spoil the tour so I will just thank the legendary JDL from the Cold Crush Crew for being an amazing host and entertainer. This was based on the 2nd generation of Hip Hop and they do take you to places that relate to the new generation also. My favorite place on this tour was the lunch stop over...just do this tour and you will know what i am saying. Thank you for such an unforgettable day!

The tour was supposed to last 4 hours. It lasted 3. It was supposed to be music on board the bus, but neither the dvd or the cd-player worked. The guide brought along three friends and they all seemed more interested in each other than in guiding the group. Much of the time it was focus on games for iPhone. The guide himself was charming and just seemed to be a bit tired that day, but we should really had som refunds for the bus not working properly and the tour being an hour shorter than announced.

Loved this tour!! Guides were informative and was a very relaxed vibe. Great lunch stop - recommend the cheeseburgers!!!!! Places of interest were relevant, and especially enjoyed 5 Points. Would recommend this tour to any fan of hip hop - but would suggest that you order the package that includes the tshirts - we didn't thinking we could pick them up on the tour, but none were available.

Sad about the cancellations
Sun, Sep 20, 09   12:30 PM kateswain Female 20-29 International Tourist(s) Family Without Children
I enjoyed this trip however we and other passengers were all very disappointed that the pioneers of hip hop tour was cancelled and we were sent on this. It is, I would assume, a completely different tour, I (we) weren't really interested in hearing about the likes and music of Ja Rule, 50 Cent etc. So it wasn't a really suitable replacement. I guess my negative opinion stems from the fact there was 9 people on our tour and 4 of them had booked for the other tour, so I felt maybe they should have asked us if we'd like to pay more to have this tour cancelled and take the other, or just have a smaller group (I would have!!) It was really meant to be the highlight of my overseas trip so I was pretty depressed about it. Having said that, Mikey D was a great host, we saw a lot of queens, and had a pretty good time. It was better than not going at all :)

The projects look a great place to hang out!!

September 2009 met with the legendary Mike D, and his crew and scooted over the bridge to Queens to hear his thoughts on Rap & Hip hop. There was 8 on the tour and I think we were the only couple who didnt know the history or most of the rappers he mentioned - by the end I knew my 'Ladies Love' from my Grandmaster Jay alright. Good fun, and Mikey D is so passionate - shame he only hit the UK for the first time this year though. We hit the Queensbury projects, 5 points graffitti, Hollis, Jamaica and then his favourite Barbers!! The soul food stop was great - the original Technics 1210s on display with all the platinum discs aswell. We had a great time Mike. You kept me laughing the whole tour (especially how the bad boy rapper was struggling with his allergies that day!!) Only downside was at times it seemed a bit stretched out and the lads werent sure what to do next or where to go. Apart from that, yeah it was worth the money and we have the memory of watching the man in action Freestyling away on the bus without any anti-histamines!! Paul & Claire Garstang, UK

If you ever take a tour take this one. The best inside look at this area of Hip-hop. Brings everything you know to life. Not only this but Mikey D is a very genuine guy who makes you feel like a friend and not just a customer. This tour is worth more than the cost!

A very good way to learn about the 2nd generation of rap from QUEENS... Lots of good tidbits of rappers from that region and connecting with the physical env. is a plus. Keep up the great job and sharing the knowledge of Hip Hop - Debra and team.....
