Very cool

This tour was great! It provides a great opportunity to walk through the streets of Harlem, all while getting informed on old school hip-hop culture and history. I highly recommend it.

Can be recommended!

Not only our children enjoyed the walk very much, even my wife and myself were very amused about the enthusiastic way our guide explained the early days of the Hip-Hop movement. It was a very enjoyable (and safe) way to get to know Harlem a little bit better as well.

It was great to be with Grandmaster Caz and a highly international group of attendees. I learned so much and had an awesome time. I was in the city for 7 days and this tour was the best of my entire trip! I totally look at everything with new eyes-graffiti, hip-hop, rap, breaking, everything is different now! Caz is a highly entertaining, charming, friendly, intelligent and informative guide, and the group was really friendly and excited to participate. It was also great to watch everyone breaking in Rucker Park with Mighty Mouse. All in all, in was an honor to spend time with Caz and the group as a whole!

Recommendation From A Non Hip Hopster

I personally have never been a fan of hip hop which is not uncommon for my age group. When my son realized I was taking my grandson and daughter-in-law to New York for a visit, he stated he had always wanted to participate in a hip hop tour. My grandson, age 11, also indicated he would enjoy this. I agreed because I became more interested in hip hop by watching "So You Think You Can Dance". After determining the tour was "family friendly", I agreed to purchase the tickets. I must say it was an absolute delight. Everyone was extremely professional, well versed and had the ability to make everyone of any gender or age feel quite comfortable. I thoroughly enjoyed learning the history of hip hop and must say, because of this, I now have totally changed my view. Before this tour, I believed all hip hop was dirty language and totally disrespectful. I no longer believe this and am happy to have had the opportunity to learn the truth about hip hop. My grandson and daughter-in-law also enjoyed the tour. We purchased a CD which is currently being enjoyed by my grandson. It's wonderful to learn that just because a "culture" may not be one practiced by everyone, doesn't mean it's against good values.

Excellent tour with a proper history of hip hop.

The tour was excellent. A faultless history lesson in New York history expertly and enthusiastically told by the legendary Grandmaster Caz sticking to the facts and telling it like it was. Slightly marred by the initial choice of music (nobody want to hear Puff Daddy/P-Diddy/Diddy or LL Cool J past his prime - sticking to the better, non-commercial stuff would have been a far better choice) and the selling of bootleg CDs at the end (especially as this happened directly after Grandmaster Caz's tale of getting denied royalties from Rapper's Delight - a touch hypocritical if you ask me). These minor gripes aside, this is highly recommended especaially if Grandmaster Caz is your guide on the day.

First off I want to thank Hush Tours (Sorry can't remember the helpful lady's name) for giving us a meeting point when our flight was delayed and we were half an hour late. Met the crew at 106 & Park where we walked around this school yard with all this sick graffiti including the "Graffiti Wall of Fame". From there we stopped at multiple historic spots. One being Rucker Park where Mighty Mouse B-Boy master gave us a dose of some NY b-boyin'. Which included a challenge from one of our fellow tour crew which was coo. Even though I may of knew a lot of the history already it was sick to see all the original birth places. Not to mention having Caz as a MC the whole time, #$%!ing sick! MC Delight was jokes " Who put this thing together? Me that's who!" a must see live. My fav moment had to be getting a pic of me and Caz in front of the birth place of Hip-Hop and now a landmark 1520 Sedgwick Ave. Strictly Unforgettable!

Hip-Hop Fan? This is a must...

I went with a 15 year old boy - and think I had more fun than he did. We learned all about the origins of hip hop (and I learned what the four legs of the hip hop table are) as well as visited important geographic sites in the hip hop world. I even got to learn some beat boying moves! (Now that I know what beat-boying is...).Lunch was at a soul food buffet with classics for the picky (mac and cheese) as well as soul food specialties for the more adventurous - like collard greens. Music accompanied throughout added atmosphere and helped set the tone. Lecture tour throughout as well - with stories, history, anecdotes and a bit of rapping (oops, I mean emceeing). Nice mix of on and off the bus experience.

I heard about the tour from a friend who lives in DC and had come to NYC specifically to take her family (w/ children) on the tour recently. My husband and I live in Manhattan and didn't even know about the tour. My husband is really into music and occasionally DJ's for private parties. I got the tickets as a surprise for him and we both loved it. It was fun and really interesting - a great day. Grandmaster Caz was the best guide you could ask for - he's a Hip Hop legend. It was really an insider's tour, and it was well done and professional . The food was great as well. We had a great group of people on the tour from all over the world - all different ages and backgrounds. There was a mother with her teenage son who learned some dance moves from a professional beboyer (breakdancer). One guy from the tour group actually had a dance off with the professional dancer. Grandmaster Caz did some MCing of his own songs and some freestyling too. Then two guys from the group both stood up and did their own freestyle rap. It was the real deal.

This tour was much more that I expected....I am a local dj out of Texas that has some knowledge of "Old School" Hip Hop but not a lot since I cater to a different style of Music (Tejano)....This was an extremely educational tour...I learned so much from this expierence....I would highly recommend this tour for everyone...I took my wife and daughter with me and they had a good time also.....The only draw back if you can say this to be a draw back was that we had to eat our lunch on the bus since we were running short on time....To me this was the highlight of my visit to New York!!!!!!!

Great Tour just needs to pay attention to details

I thought the tour was fun and informative. My husband and I are huge Hip Hop fans so this was a great way to spend the afternoon. We did have a couple of suggestions to make the tour look more professional. The speaker box that was used could be update and of better quality, it kept blinking in and out. The explaination of hip hop was great but we would have like to hear and see more relevant facts regarding hip hop and its relevance to NYC. We thought that they could put the Hush Tour sign on an A-frame so it would be easier to display and take with them during the tour rather then trying to hook it up to the door (which was rolled up while were there) or hooked to a fence in the park. It would have been nice to be given some time at the graffity wall to take pictures rather then running after the group and having to miss the speakers remarks to take them. I realize the tour is regarding the history of rap starting with it's pioneers but I think it would be of value to show the connection of how those individuals influenced modern day rappers or show some connections through time, from one generation to the next. sort of a 6 degrees of seperation thing. Those are my suggestions. Thanks for a great day.

A guided tour of hip hop landmarks in the city where it all began and guided by hip hop LEGENDS no less! You can't go wrong, people. My friends and I were fortunate to have the pleasure of Reggie Reg and the one and only Kurtis Blow. These two cats guided us through the rich history of old school hip hop while asking us to take in scenery that is legendary. If you know your hip hop, you know pretty much every story these guys will tell, but to hear it from people who helped create hip hop is a wholly different experience. Plus, one of my friends kinda tagged along and wasn't so much into the history of hip hop, but he was really positively surprised and learned a thing or two. Both Blow and Reg are elder hip hop statesmen and act as such. Plenty of smiles and no bad vibes whatsoever. You will not regret it!

We were looking to do something different in NY and this certainly ticked the box. This is a great tour around Harlem and fantastic insight into the origins of Hip Hop music, provided by Reggie Reg from the legendary Crash Crew. If anything, the time went too quick. Very, very enjoyable. G Young (UK)

much walking and talking, few sites visited

CWe enjoyed our host, Reggie Reg, who was friendly, funny and knowledgeable. Had trouble hearing what he was saying due to street noise. But aside from the graffitti wall of fame (really unique), we did not see much that was specific to hip hop culture or history. Also some stops listed on the web site -- hip hop clubs, oldest record store in Harlem -- were not visited and the Apollo stop was just a brief step into the lobby. The MSNY stop at the beginning, especially the video, had nothing to do with the tour, really. Better would have been a stop to see a video with some of the hip hop performers mentioned by our host.

I'm 19 from Scotland, and me and ma bro(13) persuaded my mum to go on the tour with Reggie Reg from the Crash crew (cool as ice!!) Was a little aprehencious (dunno bout the spelling?!) bout the tour when i found out it was just us three cause other people got lost, plus me and ma bro are more into new skool rap. But learning all about hip hop's origins with an absolute legend was not only informative but exciting, felt like i was walking during the era that Reggie Reg covers. We walked through Harlem and learned all about it's history for 2 hours and it just flew in. If you want to learn bout 50 cent or Jay Z...go on the net! For a real live feel for hip hop, check out the tour!!! Jamie from (near) Edinburgh, Scotland.
