HipHop Tour from the heart

Wassup, A review straight outta Amsterdamned! The hush tour was legendary and a lot of fun! A great honour to talk and eat with Caz and Reggie Reg. Inspiring, never forget it and will pass on the Hush Tour message! Big up. Some postive critics to improve the tour: - maybe an extra stop to look at a freestyle battle (beatbox, streetcorner) - some more Hush-tour stuff (shirts, caps) for tourist to buy during tour With love, Ray & Pum

A Great Way to Teach Your Kids Hip Hop History...
Sat, Feb 10, 07   11:00 AM teqnotic Male 40-49 Local Family With Children
A great way to teach your kids about the history of Hip Hop culture. I thought I knew alot about Hip Hop, but I even learned some facts. Grandmaster Caz and Reggie Reg guided this tour through Harlem. These Old School pioneers know their stuff. I'm glad I brought my kids along for the tour, now they know more than whats on TV and the radio. They know about the real Hip Hop culture, sadly something they will not learn in school, not even in the public schools of New York City, in the city where Hip Hop started. It was a fun time spent with tourist from all over the world, with my kids and I. Highly recommend this tour for everyone.

Grandmaster Caz - A Legend
Sat, Feb 3, 07   11:00 AM aearley Male 20-29 International Tourist(s) Group of Friends
Honestly - even if you do not have a mild interest in Hip Hop and are just visiting New York then you NEED to spend 4 hours of your trip on this tour - the history and cultural insight that you learn are what goes towards making New York the place that it is today. Forgot the modern day stereotypes, the tour which was led by Grandmaster Caz (to describe him as knowledgeable is a vast understatement, as he was there at the beginning of hip hop and so I guess he is the knowledge - the spark that created the fire back in the 1970s) tours Harlem, the Bronx and visits key locations that have constituted towards the hip hop "movement". Caz was charismatic and insightful and above all else enthusiastic to be sharing his experience with the group. You even get to sample some delightful Soul Food at lunch (I recommend the Jerk Chicken - spicy). On the coach, Caz's narrative is broken up with samples of groundbreaking records of the early era and various video clips - including one of the man himself with a massive afro and an over the top stage outfit - hilarious! ;-) There is so much more to it and overall I was just privledged to have been a part of the tour. Just make sure you listen carefully to where you can pick up some Sedgewick & Cedar clothing that Caz is now a part of. Book up this tour now!

Highly recommended. Great tour.

The tour was excellent. It is amazing to think that you can sit there and tour these historical neighborhoods as the history of hip-hop is orally described to you from the perspective of a real hip hop pioneer. My tour was led by Curtis Blow and included everything from lunch with the man, to an improvisational turn at performing "The Brakes" live on the bus, to a question answer session. The group was small and manageable, but that will surely change as more people hear about this wonderful experience. Overall it was well organized, although a bit more discipline could help make time for a few more spots. The only complaint I would have is that we did not go to Brooklyn or Queens. They should consider lengthening the tour to include at least one of those sites as well as the sites we did cover. I would not mind another 1-1.5 hrs to see those sites, the possibilities are endless. I had a great time. It was the best tour I have ever been on and should be emulated in other cities that have historical or cultural significance that is ignored by the mainstream.

Just a liitle overview

It was ok, not too bad but itwas just a little overview. I wouldn't recogment it to those who are already informed about Hip Hop history. In adition the tour should last longer in comparising to the price. Nevertheless the guide was nice. All in all, ok but not overwhelming.

Tour was great. Got to see a different side to New York then museeums and the more wll known attractions. The tour is light and easy and conducted in an excellent manner. The guide explains in an easy and understandable manner the history of hip hop and its emerging styles and cultures. I have recommended this tour to all my friends and i am definitely going to do it again next time i visit New York

would have loved to see more places!!!!!!
Sat, Dec 23, 06   11:00 AM Michaela13 Male 20-29 International Tourist(s) Individual
I would have loved to get information about the more recent hip hop scene and I expected to see more places!!! For example where certain people have lived, places of shootings and so on. Instead your are only shown about 5 important places, whose importance dates back to the 70s and 80s. Also U get a lot of information about the life of the so called "pioneers" which was very boring after a while. Moreover the lunch took about 45 min of the 4 hours tour! All in all i was quite disappointed!!!!!

Trip was nice, Reggie gave a good, short summary of Hip Hop history, and was very friendly and open for questions. We visited an exhibition in the Museum of the City of NY ans walked through Harlem, which was quite impressive. All in all I can recommend that tour, especially for those who are not familiar for Hip Hop culture at all and therefore want to have some insight.

This was a great highlight of our trip to NYC. We live in Oakland, CA and have been waiting for years to go on a tour like this one. Our Guide, Rahim, was very informative, personable, knowledgeable, and friendly. We gained much insight into the origins of Hip Hop and of Harlem in general. We highly recommend this tour and we'll definitely do another one on our next visit!

The tour was great. Grandmaster was awesome and very enthusiastic. He provied lots of information. The organizer of the tour, Debbie (I think) was also very helpful and very nice. We had a great time. Lunch in Harlem was cool as we got to eat collard greens and black eyed peas. The only thing I would suggest is that if we could see more of the actual sites that Grandmaster Cass talked about--the actual block where some of the partys occurred, etc. But, the tour was a blast and we have already recommended it to lots of friends, both who live in NYC and who don't. Grandmaster Caz and Debra gave us more than we could ask for. We had a chance to be with one of the founders of hip hop and that in its self is priceless. I will always remember Caz's passion and dedication to the art of Hip-Hop and I can't thank Debra enough for HUSH productions and her commitment to the experience. Thank you!

Understanding the begins of Hip-Hop and Rap. One recommendation: Add more of the newer rappers as part of the tour. So, you'll get more young people involved in the understanding of the beginning of Hip-Hop.
