AWESOME!!! Do this tour, best thing I did in NY

This is an awesome tour, i thought i knew a lot about hip hop before this tour, but i knew nothing. I learned so much about the history of hip hop where it grew from and all of this was from the guys that were there when it started. Grandmaster Cas was an awesome host, his personal insight was great, he was entertaining, answered so many questions and we loved his live performance!

You're in good hands with Grandmaster Caz as he shows you where hip-hop got its start at 1520 Sedgwick Avenue, as well as other landmarks in Harlem and the Bronx. Caz was one of the pioneers of hip-hop in the Seventies , and he's got tons of great info and stories. Bring some extra money for the wide selection of CDs, including rare live performances from legends like Grandmaster Flash and Kurtis Blow. A great way to spend a Saturday in New York!

A Real Walk Through History

This was an experience that I would not only recommend to Hip Hop enthusiast but to anyone that appreciates the history of the USA. Hip Hop is not just a black thing, it’s for everyone. Hip Hop defines a major accomplishment in history and has a place like other great accomplishments. This tour far exceeded my expectations and I have HIGH expectations! Grand Master Cass is the real deal and not only gives you the history behind Hip Hop but makes you proud of him as an individual. I would do this tour again and again. I have already started planning my next trip to NYC for my children to enjoy this wonderful experience. Keep up the fantastic work!

I always said if I ever visited NYC id do a HipHop Tour! Caz was brilliant he has and is LIVING the HIPHOP lifestyle. He was very informative and of course obviously knowledgeable! A real nice bloke and i felt it was a really very personal tour, the streets the jams the battles and of course the graffiti too. I told him about the time as a kid my friends and I went to see Grandmaster Mel at a gig in our town. Caz said “Hell I got Mel on speed dial on my cell!” Amazing, the Harlem streets where Dougie Fresh lives and the apartment where it all started and topped with the soul food restaurant - Manna's in the Bronx - Amazing. The story of the SugarHill Gang too & the B-Boy demo!!….So glad I did the tour! Caz if you are ever in the UK be sure to look me up! Even posted some pix on facebook! Ha! Paul Mitchell UK

My boyfriend and I took this tour with Grandmaster Caz on our last day in New York. He was a great tour guide and it was fun to learn about the beginnings of hip-hop from a person who was there. I especially liked the Bronx Walk of Fame, the Graffiti Wall, and the performance at the end. I used to live in NY, but had never gone to Harlem or the Bronx on my own. I would definitely go on this tour again and take friends and family!

As a new york native I was both enlighted by this tour as well as sometime a bit ashamed I had no sense of history about where i have called home my whole life. Your tour guide Reggie Reg will not only school you on the history of hip hop culture on a whole but New Yorks rich history. Its a pretty far walk but Reggie keeps you entertained well enough for you not to recognize how far you've walked.

Seeing New York off the tourist routes
Sat, Feb 21  11:00 AM hmrytz Female 20-29 International Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
Fun tour guide and many interesting places to visit. The soul food restaurant where the lunch stop takes one is great. Then Bronx part could have been larger, though, and the price of the tour is quite high. However, great way of seeing those corners of New York a regular tourist itinerary usually doesn't take you! And of course, lots to learn about Hip Hop...

I planned this tour for my husband and myself while in the NYC for the Calzaghe vs. Jones Jr. fight. We both really love old skool hip hop and music as a whole. We weren't sure what to expect on the tour, but really, how could it not be cool when dealing with old skool roots and history. The group was small which was cool. We got to see the 5PTZ Wearhouse, LL's grandmothers house and stopming grounds along with many other artists. Mikey Dee and Googles were great tour guides, they even took us to Sybil's for some Jamacian food. Which was awsome, thanks guys. We recommend this tour for anyone, and will be back to check out the other tours. OLD SKOOL music is where is starts.

Raheem was an excellent guide - he really knew his stuff, the boom box with "The Message" blaring out down the street was a nice touch. The tour was relaxed, but very informative and we learnt a lot about Harlem and the Bronx -so I would recommend this tour for anyone and not just Hip Hop heads! We were in NYC on our honeymoon and I have to say that this tour really was the icing on the cake! Ben and Rachel Allen Bristol UK

Better than the typical tours...

Hi everyone, My name is Mark and my girlfriend Cindy and I just visited NYC this past weekend. It was our first time there and we only had three days to cram a lot of stuff into that period. I knew that I wanted to see Times Square, the Statue, Empire State and the other typical landmarks of this great city. However what intrigued me the most was a old school hip hop tour that I heard Grandmaster Caz talking about on VH1's 100 Greatest Hip Hop Songs program. I am 40 years old and knew that anything that referred to "Old School" would be up my alley. So last Sunday we arrived at the designated spot which was in front of the Yankees Clubhouse and eventually got on our tour bus. Our tour guides were three Brothers who were in my same age group and had grew up in the area and had plenty of enthusiasm. The first two of these was a cat named Mikey D, who was an aspiring rapper and his brother (I apologize man because I have forgotten your name). The last was a man named Tony, a.k.a. "Googles" and he is the one which I became the most familiar with. It was a diverse collection of tourists with us being from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, others being from Germany and a couple from Houston, Texas. We started off on our tour and the guides said we were going to go through Queens to see the stomping grounds of legendary acts like RUN-DMC, A Tribe Called Quest, LL Cool J, 50 Cent, and Mobb Deep. As we made our way along we had some trouble with the sound system on the bus, but that was quickly forgotten about as our tour gudes started "freestyling" and "beat-boxing." Mikey D. was encouraging our participation by asking several questions pertaining to this genre of music and we found out tidbits of information that even a Old Schooler such as myself didn't know. Along our way we were given historical facts pertaining to each stop we made such as a huge warehouse that was presented to all grafitti artists to showcase their work to avoid painting on all of the subway trains. We got to see the actual barber shop that is currently the setting for the program "The Shop" on Sucker Free Sundays. As stated earlier we saw the childhood homes of the artists mentioned before and were allowed to stretch our legs in the Burrough of Queens. We enjoyed the tour immensely as we did our other tours but this one had a little edge to it because it was real and authentic. Compared to our night time tour of NYC which was hurried, this one was a little slower paced and allowed us to take in all that was Queens. So to whomever reads my review I would definitely recommend taking this tour, especially if you consider yourself Old School like myself. Peace from Big Mark!
