| Grandmaster Caz talked and sang with verve while we traveled from the upper West side all the way to the Bronx and back again and we wished we could've stayed a bit longer. To walk the streets and get more and more into the mood. Don't forget to check out the little record shop that sits next to the diner where we had our soul food. | ||||||

| First, we were very happy that the Hushtour people found an alternate tour guide on the same day our guide was ill. Our alternate guide was Reggie Reg from the Crash Crew who experienced and knew everything about the early hip hop days and personally knew most of the other people who are the hip hop pioneers (as well as half the people we met on the street!). He was very kind to us, directed comments to all of us, asked us questions about what we already knew, etc. We walked from 106th street up to 125th street with the narrative going non stop about the chronology of hip hop events starting back in the 70's. When the tour was over, Reggie Reg helped us figure out our transportation back and personally escorted us there. My 18 year old daughter was loving it. Lots of opportunities for great pics too. Recommended highly. | ||||||

| We had a blast. I would recommend that the person waiting for us at the p/u spot have a printed sign or badge on with the tour name. When we got to the spot we didn't know if we were at the right place and approach a couple people before we got to the right person. Also, our tour was on 7/1/06. I had my confirmation but was not on the list. There was no problem we were welcomed on the tour. The information was very informative and the time on the bus was filled with music, fun, and hip hop trivia. The stops were interesting. We had a problem getting to the Bronx due to a baseball game. Prior planning could have allowed for another route to be taken. We spend a lot of time sitting in traffic. It was also a little disappointing that we had to return the "bling bling". It would have been a nice souvenir. The food was good and allowed for the foreigners to experience "soul food". Keep up the good work. I would recommend the tour to others that visit NY. | ||||||

| I was lucky enough to do this walk tour with my teenage daughters. Although it was a very hot day we managed to enjoy every minute of it. Our guide was the well known and reputable Rahim who has been a legend in hiphop for many years. He was informative , friendly and humourous. The sun was beating down and we sweated our way through the amazing streets of Harlem, hanging off Rahims' every word. I was surprised that their was so much history and information. We had so much fun. The only thing we would have liked to have seen was a display of hiphop dancers. We know that this is only one aspect, but it would have finished the tour perfectly. Rahim was both professional and interesting. Great tour for the whole family. However I would advise you to put on your walking shoes and be prepared to walk for one and a half hours. | ||||||

| The highlight of our recent trip to NYC was the hip hop tour.. We wondered if we would be welcome as we are quite a bit older than hip hop music but nothing could be further than the truth. Raheim, our guide, was informative, knowledgable and eloquent. Not only is the tour a tribute to hip hop, it is also of historical interest as Raheim introduces the tourist to many buildings and places important to Harlem's colourful and varied past. He draws your attention to lots of sites as the tour winds through the streets and neighbourhoods. It was just wonderful to tour Harlem so long a 'no go' area to whites. Wherever we went people hailed Raheim and smiled and chatted with us. Harlem and Raheim were great hosts! Please take this tour of Harlem - Oh! and save room for the wonderful Soul luncheon when the tour is over - $5.00 all you can eat - yum! By the way we did not tip Raheim. We did not know if we should or not and we should have asked him for his autograph as it will never happen again that one of the creators of a genre personally shows you around his world - a bit like having Picasso show you how he painted a picture! | ||||||

| My 10 year old son and I took the tour this past 4th of July weekend. It was better than I expected. The tour guide was informative, cordial and very knowledgeable. My son was very pleased and the guide kept his attention throughout the tour. We saw the building where "New Jack City" was filmed and we recognized the surroundings from other movies that were filmed in Harlem. We saw President Clinton's office and experienced a totally awesome meal at Manna's Restaurant. Spanish Harlem, Apollo Theatre, Grafitti walls and the St. Teresa Hotel were a delight. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone with children. I especially liked the tour guides interaction with the group-question and answer segments which made us really feel like we were involved in the process and provided a valuable educational experience for my son. | ||||||

| My sister and I took our sons, ages 14 and 16. My son is the one who's interested in hip hop, but we all had a great time! Grand Master Cas was an awesome tour guide and had a lot of interesting stories and information about the sites. We got to see parts of New York that we otherwise wouldn't have been to. I would definitely recommend taking in this tour. Oh, and lunch was great, too! | ||||||

| My granddaughter and I (at her request) found Hush Hip Hop Tours online. Grand Master Cas led our tour and was extremely informative about the origins and evolution of Hip Hop. Like many musical pioneers, he had his own story to tell about the very beginning of Hip Hop and how some of his early material was used without his inclusion in future financial gain. Our bus was not especially lively or open to interaction, unfortunately. I think we ended up mostly with tourists and folks who weren't into the rap. Cas was extraordinarily knowledgeable and the B-boys were terrific, too! The tour could be expanded in a way that would encourage more participation and questions among those with a desire to know the genre. Too, the significance of Harlem as the cultural heartbeat of Black Americans could be expanded. I will recommend this tour and I would also take other visitors on it. Many kudos to the founder of this tour, Debbie, and Grand Master Cas for undertaking this important effort. | ||||||

Nice walking tour of Harlem

| Although billed as a hip-hop tour, this was at least as much a walking tour of Harlem in general. That was fine with us, but it might be included in the description. Also, we ended up pretty far away from our starting point by the official end of the tour. Again, this was not a problem for our family, but it might be for tourists who expect to be returned to their starting point. Our tour guide was very friendly and personable. | ||||||

| We probably seemed an unlikely group to be on the tour. Two middle aged white parents with their teenage sons. However, we all thoroughly enjoyed it . Our sons are big into hip hop - as Rahim may have told you!!! We too are very interested in all forms of music and youth culture. Rahim was a great guide. He managed to convey hip hop's history in a way which highlighted its relevance to its present day forms - music and graffiti. We all know and love Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five, so it just gave it that added something to be guided by a one-time member. The trip to the Graffiti Wall of Fame was a great moment, especially for my eldest son who is a bit of an artist himself. I think we would all have liked to see some more 'informal' graffiti too, but perhaps the Mayor's 'zero tolerance' has made that impossible? From my point of view, I was really pleased to see graffiti by young women on the Pink Wall. Going to Harlem was brilliant. We live in multiracial south London, but there is still nowhere to compare Harlem with here. I loved the energy of the place. I The tour was definitely one of the highlights of our trip.We were just sorry that we couldn't manage the coach tour too, but we'll definitely do that next time. You have a great thing going. Thank you. Heather Wakefield. | ||||||

| A delightful tour that really captures the flavour of the early days of hip hop. All first hand experience - you can't get this stuff any other way. My 16 year old and I had a great time. | ||||||
