Representing Queens

| There's alot of Hip Hop history straight out of Queens, and Pioneer rapper Mikey D lived it. I thought I knew alot about Queens Hip Hop History, but I have learned alot more. Visiting the homes of Run DMC, LL Cool J, the Lost Boys and many more. These guys are doing the right thang, by educating visitors from all over about Hip Hop history. Something that is not always taught in schools. I'm glad they are preserving the history by offering these tours. | ||||||

A Great Way to Teach Your Kids Hip Hop History...

| A great way to teach your kids about the history of Hip Hop culture. I thought I knew alot about Hip Hop, but I even learned some facts. Grandmaster Caz and Reggie Reg guided this tour through Harlem. These Old School pioneers know their stuff. I'm glad I brought my kids along for the tour, now they know more than whats on TV and the radio. They know about the real Hip Hop culture, sadly something they will not learn in school, not even in the public schools of New York City, in the city where Hip Hop started. It was a fun time spent with tourist from all over the world, with my kids and I. Highly recommend this tour for everyone. | ||||||

| I thought the enthuiasm shown by our guide was second to none but I think it would of been nice to have met further uptown to avoid the journey uptown which seemed to take a great length of time. I hoped we would of spent a bit more time in the Bronx and visited a few more spots rather than the one port of call at Sedgewick Avenue. Although seeing KRS 1 was a bonus I would of thought a visit to the Wildstyle Amphitheate or to Kool Herc's old club would of been more educational to the Hip Hop enthusiast than a trip to 125th Street. And I felt the restaurant trip was not really necessary. Cas was a good tour guide and his rap at the end of the tour was a good end to an overall satisfying 4 hours. | ||||||

| My family and I really enjoyed the Hush Tour experience. It was a must for those who think they know about the origins of Hip Hop, especially the young ones. Rahiem was mad cool and insightful. Get the real meaning and feel of Hip Hop and be ready to be a real Hip Hop head because you have to know and embrace where it started to fully understand Hip Hop! WORD!!!! | ||||||

| Having been to New York City many times, I would have to say that the Hip Hop Tour Led by the Pioneering Legends of Rap was one of the most enjoyable, interesting and authentic experience I've ever had there. The guides were engaging, passionate and excellent and both my 19 year old son and myself thouroughly had a blast. In fact, it was the only part of our 3 day N.Y. trip we kept talking about days afterwards. Thanks to Debra the organizer, Grand Master Caz , JDL, and Puerto Rico. A good time was had by all. | ||||||

| OMG!! I absolutely loved it. I have been on MANY NYC tours and this was completely different. It was interesting, fun, interactive and educational. I currently live in Brooklyn and love when I have opportunities to see other parts of the city. It was a great experience and I would highly recommend it to hip-hop lovers and people who just want an exciting/different experience in NYC. All of the landmarks were historical and the Graffiti Wall of Fame was amazing!! Grandmaster Caz was the guide and what a lucky woman I was to have a forefather of Hip-Hop giving me a tour and history lesson. He was VERY funny and honest. And now I can't stop seeing him on every show and documentary of hip hop....He is even my MySpace picture right now :) | ||||||

| We knew nothing about hip hop and as tourists we were advisedto take this tour and we were so glad we did! Grandmaster Caz was funny, intelligent and a fantastic guide! We learnt so much and it was great to visit Harlem and the Bronx too. He's motivated me to learn more about Hip hop and we are telling all our Aussie friends to do this tour as it was the best tour I've ever done! Thank you! Tania and Goran (Australia) | ||||||

| I highly recommend Hush Tours NYC, if you are looking for a guided cultural tour with a difference. If you have time, you may want to consider at least two tours. I booked this tour using the online booking system, as I am from Australia. Hush Tours is not the run of the mill guided tour. It is much more and you are bound to learn something new, even if you are an avid hip-hop fanatic and expert yourself. I found the company to be prepared, on time, upbeat and host Grandmaster Caz is a natural talent, who will ensure you are guided tour an interactive experience of his backyard, NYC. I toured in Aug 2009. It is a positive experience. | ||||||

Hip Hop tour of Holland

| John was terrific. I brought 4 Ca. friends, basically four demanding "president" types. All chiefs, no indians. He sized up the situation very accurately and was able to keep them all happy -- practically an impossiblity. I've known these ladies for 37 years. and this was not an easy task. I, as a musician, loved learning what he said about Hip Hop, something all of us classicists have a hard time understanding. I would very much like to know of a very good tour to hear Gospel singing and some of the the musicians John told me lead your tours. Pls. write me about these. | ||||||

| I had a great time and learned a lot about the beginnings of the rap genre. Best parts: 1. I got to meet Raheim Williams from Grandmaster Flash! 2. We got to get off the bus and walk around the famous sites. 3. We got to take photos on and off the bus. 4. We ate at a fantastic soul food restaurant. 5. We got to see the Apollo Theater (the outside, anyway). 6. We felt safe the entire time. 7. Raheim performed an impromptu rap on the bus! 8. Guests got the chance to perform rap on the bus. 9. Raheim was genuinely friendly and funny! Things I would change: 1. Be able to enter the Apollo and look around. 2. See a break dance performance (I thought we were going to see one because there is a photo of one on the Zerve site). 3. Stress more that the souvenir CD samples songs and doesn't have the whole song. 4. Play more music on the bus. Match the songs to what the guide is discussing. Let the guide talk, then play a whole song, not just 10 seconds. Somehow more rap music should be worked into the presentation. 5. See a DJ demonstration in a gym or rec center (maybe combine it with the break dance). 6. Get a free t-shirt with each ticket purchased. 7. Pimp up the bus with spinning hubcaps, gold chains, etc... | ||||||
