Hanging with Reggie Reg and the HUSH Tour fam was very insightful and interesting. The best part was seeing Kool Herc's building and the room where Hip Hop actually started. The only way it could be better is to meet Herc, Afrika Bam or step inside the room itself. It was well worth the money for the experience.

Everyone should take this tour!

Grandmaster Caz was the guide. He was very good & does around 85% of the tours. Growing up in the 1980s, Harlem & the Bronx had reputations as very dangerous places. This tour will show you the real Harlem & the Bronx and give you an idea of how Hip Hop began. You will see where some of the early rappers live as well as where some of the earlly venues were. Unfortunately, this tour will not get you inside of the Apollo or 1520 Sedgwick Ave. There are photo ops though. This tour may seem expensive (food is not included either), but it's worth it in my opinion.

Beyond the "safety zone"
Fri, May 31  11:00 AM mtoffo Female 40-49 International Tourist(s) Individual
As Grandmaster Caz said, this tour goes beyond the "safety zone" of standard NYC tourist experiences in Manhattan - one of its many plusses. Offers an opportunity to hear about one of NY's cultural legacies and see parts of NY you wouldn't elsewhere. Caz is entertaining and personable, and often amusing! A must-do for hip hop fans.

I would highly recommend this tour if you are visiting New York and you are interested in gaining knowledge or more knowledge about the origin of Hip Hop. My bestie and I recently had a "girls only" trip to New York for her birthday. She read about this tour and suggested we go. I'm so glad we did. This tour was very interactive and engaging.Grandmaster Caz the tour guide was Awesome!!! He is also very knowledgeable about Hip Hop as a whole. Other than the weather(rain) I would definitely recommend this tour. I give it 2 thumbs up!! Reppin...Baton Rouge, La..

Great look into the birth of Hip Hop
Sat, May 25  11:00 AM Kvilepool Male 40-49 International Tourist(s) Individual
A very good, informative and entertaining tour of the places where Hip Hop was born. The tour guide Caz is very engaging and a Hip Hop legend in his own right. The tour is interactive, so you have to expect to get involved. The involvement makes it even more fun, and you get to meet other people who share your interest in the origins of Hip Hop. The tour will take you to parts of the city that you would not see as a New York tourist following the beaten track.

A look into past, presence and future of hiphop
Wed, May 22  11:00 AM jasperinny Male 50-59 International Tourist(s) Family With Children
Our guide Grandmaster Caz tought us with lots of humor and understanding, how hiphop developed and what it means to the people. Caz lead us to places, the ordinary New York tourist would never go to: the bronx and spanish harlem. This helped us to understand, how hiphop was born. Caz also presented informations, we never had heared abour bevore. For example: the date of the first hiphop-party and where it took place. He also told many memories and stories about the time hiphop was born. For my son and me the trip was a big adventure, we will never forget. And when we hear the rapper's delight in future, we will hear it in a different way than we heard it before. We bought Caz's latest CD and we hear it often. Lots of fun we also had with DJ Mouse, who tought us how to breakdance (sorry, we still are trying;-) It was great. Do we miss something? Yes, that we did not ask for more information about this great time and movement.. We will give friends the advice, to join the trip when they come to New York. Keep on!!

Not a Rapper's Delight
Fri, May 10  11:00 AM KenChow11 Male 40-49 International Tourist(s) Individual
i have been a Hip Hop fan since the 80's and used to get bootleg tapes in Canada of a lot of the pioneering crews from NYC. I was pretty excited to experience this tour and was hoping to get some interesting insights from the tour leader Grandmaster Caz, being one of the pioneers of Hip Hop from the city. However, the tour for the most part was pretty cheesy and was like a typical tour where they bussed you around to take pictures at different sites in Harlem & the Bronx (like Graffiti Hall of Fame in Spanish Harlem but was inside a school yard and we couldn't go into the yard to view it, Apollo Theatre, Yankee Stadium???, Bronx Walk of Fame). There was also a B-Boy breaking demoat park on the other side of the street from the Graffiti Hall of Fame that was also pretty cheesy. While on the tour Caz gave a brief history of Hip Hop and what are the pillars of the culture (MC'ing, DJ'ing, Breaking, and Graffiti) but it was not extremely insightful. Stories that Caz had spun were marginally interesting until he talked about his involvement with the song Rapper's Delight which he had a hand in writing but was not given credit and subsequently not financially rewarded for. Although on the website it says that lunch is not provided they do end up taking you to a soul food restaurant which is buffet style which you pay on your own and is priced by weight. My friend and I decided not to go because we didn't think that was appropriate for them just to take us there. My friend and I decided to take a walk and stumbled onto the famous Sylvia's Soul Food Restaurant and got take out from there instead. All in all, if you have some background and knowledge in Hip Hop then I'd say you don' t need to go on this tour and save the US$78 on other things NYC has to offer.

Myself and my wife recently celebrated out first anniversary with a trip to NYC. We were thoroughly entertained, and enjoyed a beautiful afternoon with Grandmaster Caz and the Hush Hip Hop tour. I highly recommend this tour! It was informative, fun, and very educational. Well worth the ticket price, one of the true bargains in NYC.

We discovered where took place the Party from which the Hip-Hop Movement started, we learned a few breaking dance, we ate delicious Soul Food, etc. You really have to make this tour and to discover many aspects of a big part of the real history of the contemporary New York and music.
