The real deal

Quite simply the highlight of me and DJ Prin-ce's four day visit to NYC from the UK. It surpassed my expectations in terms of the depth of knowledge and love for the roots of Hip Hop from the Hush Tours team, but especially the guide Grandmaster Caz. I thought I knew something about Hip Hop, but soon realised that I didn't know a lot...and still have a lot to learn. Quite simply, this Hip Hop tour is an essential part of your visit to NYC regardless of whether you are into Hip Hop culture or not. Respect to the four elements of Hip Hop...Peace! An amazing insight into the history of Hip Hop

A brilliant tour, I think me and my friends will all agree this is one of the best we have ever done and we've travelled all over the world. Grandmaster Caz was a trully great tour guide and to have someone who was there right at the birth of hip hop to show you round where it all started felt like a real privillege. Was a great start to our holiday in New York and took us to areas we might not have otherwise gone to.

Essential tour for hip hop fans. Unmissable!!

First off I was really excited about this tour way before it even began. It was also the clincher that brought myself and my friend - another hip hop fan from the early 80's (when it hit the UK in a massive way) over to New York, so I was hoping for a real insight into the roots of hip hop and I wasn't disappointed. Grandmaster Caz is a legend. he lived and breathed hip hop from the very beginning, so I was made up to see him take our tour. He's also got a large personality and he's a funny entertaining guy, so there wasn't a dull moment on the tour and every single one of us were listening to his every word while occasionally asking him questions, which he was happy to answer. He also dropped his rhymes live on the bus, so made it all feel very special. I don't want to give anything away, but I highly recommend this tour if (like us) you lived through the scene and feel a strong bond to it . You love the Beatles...... you go to Liverpool and take the tour. You love Elvis...... you go to Gracelands. You love hip hop. then you need to go to the birthplace of hip hop in New York and take the Hush Tour - with a legend of hip hop.

Fascinating

This tour provided me with so much history about how hip hop originated, where, and with whom. I would have loved to have seen some actual photographs of this--the first party, how people dressed, etc. "MASTER CASANOVA FLY" was outstanding, extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. So was "MADNESS". I also would have liked to have seen more people hip hop dancing. I loved visiting the building where the first hip hop party took place. I wanted to hear more about how hip hop has changed and what it is like today. I also wanted to know more about the message that the hip hop culture shares with the world. It was so inspiring to hear about how people who loved hip hop would do anything to get the chance to dance. It seems as though hip hop is a way of life.

i thought it was a fantastic tour with a true legend who knows and was part of hip hop history, the only downside was the school where the grafitti hall of fame is was closed. apart from that it was well worth it !!!

The Highlight of my first trip to New York City

What a treat. 3 friends from the United Kingdom, 2 with a love for hip hop and a bit of knowledge, one with no knowledge at all, we hoped to see some sights and find out a bit about Harlem. ...we were not sure what to expect. But right on time we were picked up by Raheim from Grand Master flash and The Furious Five, (imagine that!) Despite the beautiful sunshine there was a chill in the air, so he drove us from place to place. Not only did he take us to many important places in Hip Hop history, he taught us and chatted to us about the origin of Hip Hop and the culture that is Hip Hop. We saw the fabulous art / expressions at the Graffitti Wall of Fame in Spanish Harlem. Raheim was friendly, and chatty. I think the tour is adapted to who ever is on it. He certainly taught us plenty, and was patient with our limited knowledge. We stopped off for sweet potato pie in a local cafe as the final stop on the tour. Delicious. It was a great thing to do as part of our Holiday. Walking the tour would be just as good as driving. A friendly guided tour, with education. I don't think you'll find another tour in New York City that is so personalised. I would thoroughly recommend this tour. Thank you it was great.

I enjoy hip hop and learning about the roots of hip hop. This tour did provide information about the key players and the means in which hip hop evolved, but I found it to be a little unorganized and a means to promote Grandmaster Caz's comeback.

It was great to be with Grandmaster Caz and a highly international group of attendees. I learned so much and had an awesome time. I was in the city for 7 days and this tour was the best of my entire trip! I totally look at everything with new eyes-graffiti, hip-hop, rap, breaking, everything is different now! Caz is a highly entertaining, charming, friendly, intelligent and informative guide, and the group was really friendly and excited to participate. It was also great to watch everyone breaking in Rucker Park with Mighty Mouse. All in all, in was an honor to spend time with Caz and the group as a whole!

I was lucky enough to do this walk tour with my teenage daughters. Although it was a very hot day we managed to enjoy every minute of it. Our guide was the well known and reputable Rahim who has been a legend in hiphop for many years. He was informative , friendly and humourous. The sun was beating down and we sweated our way through the amazing streets of Harlem, hanging off Rahims' every word. I was surprised that their was so much history and information. We had so much fun. The only thing we would have liked to have seen was a display of hiphop dancers. We know that this is only one aspect, but it would have finished the tour perfectly. Rahim was both professional and interesting. Great tour for the whole family. However I would advise you to put on your walking shoes and be prepared to walk for one and a half hours.

A MUST DO TOUR!

This was my first time in NYC but it will definitely not be my last. The tour was great! It gives you an inside look of the start of Hip Hop. Kurtis Blow was my tour guide and did a wonderful job telling the hip hop history and linking it to the sites along the tour. The tour also gives you a chance to see Harlem and Bronx. I recommend this to the "old and new school" hip hop fans.

The tour was great! I learned a lot and I consider myself someone with a decent knowledge of hip-hop. Our tour guide was so into it all, it made the tour!! It was a great family outing and we now have a few extra bits of information about Hip Hop and New York.
