The Tour That NYC Has Been Missing
Sat, Aug 16, 08   11:00 AM breathing Female 30-39 Local Group of Friends
This tour shows the side of NY the other tours do not, which is very important. I am really glad of all the work you are doing to preserve hip hop history. Liked everything. Loved how much knowledge Caz had. What I would add is that we all make up a rap song together on the tour bus. Also, eat at Amy Ruth's. Peace.

The tour was great, I totally recommend it. Our guide Reggie was awesome.... funny and knew so much not just about the early days of Hip Hop but the city and the sites!! I am a fan of Old School Hip Hop but this tour is also good for people who aren't that into Old School Hip Hop as you get to see parts of New York you have never seen before..... a great insight to New York!!! Highly Recommended... Thanks so much!!!

great potential, but fell far short

1. Too long for what it contained. 2. Although we enjoyed the food very much the restaurant did not have enough seating and we ended up eating our food while sitting outside on the ground/sidewalk in front of a boarded up storefront. 3. VERY disappointed that all we saw of the Apollo was a 5 second stop out front. The Apollo was highlighted in the description of the tour so I assumed there would be more emphasis on it. 4. Curious why no mention was made of the band "Queen" as the beat of "Rapper's Delight" is eerily similiar to "Another One Bites the Dust" and the song that Grand Master Caz was singing "We are the champions" is also a Queen song. 5. More actual hip hop music on the tour would be good. 6. The info on Graffiti was great. It is an incredible art form! Would have liked to see more authentic graffiti rather than what seemed like "staged" graffiti outside of the school. (Did those artists get paid?) 7. The tour started off really well with the breakdancing. It got the tourists involved and hyped about what was to come. Could use more tourist involvement thorughout. You need to sustain the interests of the youth ( and their parents) who have short attention spans. 8. The four pillars (legs) of hip hop was a wonderful way to set up the tour but it seemed to not go anywhere. Could you have the tourists try out some authentic equipment at a stop in the Bronx as a hand's on experience of one of the legs? I think the four legs has a lot of potential because everyone can undersatnd the analogy/metaphor, but its potential needs to be explored as an easily accessible construct to which people can apply what they learn, it all just needs to be more explicit.

Worth the $$$

It was something I could enjoy with my children. I enjoyed the on/off bus breaks... Participant involvement was a nice touch. I especially enjoyed the stop by the Nike tribute to Men's Basketball while in Harlem. My children who are bb enthusiasts also enjoyed that quick break. Caz was entertaining; as well as a turn off. The group and their questions also add to the tour, along with attendee’s personal experiences. I would do the tour again with a new group. It would be good at the beginning of one’s visit to NYC to set the tone for other excursions while in NYC. Lunch was the best food I had while in NYC, with much variety; being a diabetic I appreciated the lunch stop. A give-a-way would add to the tour!

Walk This Way was an enjoyable, informative and interactive adventure into rap's early days. Our guide, Reggie Regg, was extremely engaging, knowledgable and took time in keeping to the program as well as to adlib when asked questions from the group. I would recommend this tour to all ages and would like to try another.

This tour was very informative, even for someone who considers themselves to have alot of knowledge about the origins of Hip-Hop (which I do) Caz is a phenomenal tour guide, funny, passionate, engaging...the tour itself is well paced and takes you to the spots you would want to see...lunch was brilliant! Caz's performance and his explanation of the "Hank" situation was a personal highlight for me...also Caz talking about how the city only revitalises areas for the next people who move in, was another of many keen insights...this was brilliant, the best thing I did in NYC...I did the loop with t-shirt and cd included with the tour...I can report that both the cd and t-shirt are dope and worth the extra money...miss this tour at your peril.... Just what we were looking for

When coming to New York for the first time I had two major goals to achieve, next to just getting to know New York better: 1. Buy sneakers 2. Learn about the roots of HipHop The Hush Hip Hop tour definitely made me achieve the second goal. We did the Harlem and Bronx tour, with Grandmaster Caz as our tourguide. This man is GREAT! The way he told the story of the early days was just perfect. We were shown different important places and (and this was maybe the highlight of the tour), the place where the first HipHop party ever was given. Cool Herc's place. The place where HipHop started. For anyone interested in HipHop and/or in Harlem and the Bronx, you definitely need to do this tour. A visit to these two boroughs is mandatory if you want a complete experience of New York. Don't just stay in "save" Manhattan! If you're looking for some cool sneakerstores, keep your pen and pad ready, cause you need to write down some of the streets you pass. You don't have the change to get off and check out the stores, but after the tour you know where you should head next ;-) But really. If you want to know more about what happened in the past, as far as HipHop is concerned, do this tour! I know I will do another Hush tour when I come back to New York. Fo sho! CAZ! You da man. Thanks again for the experience!

I would recommend this tour to any hip-hop enthusiast who is interested in learning more about the origins of the genre. Also a good chance to view the sights of Harlem and the Bronx, including the Apollo Theater and Rucker Park. The tour is probably a bit long, but that can be attributed to having to sit in NYC traffic.

A Hip Hop Delight!

My girlfriend and I were on vacation in New York from the UK. I was just 12 years old when I first experienced Hip Hop in 1983 (you can do the maths yourselves! ;-) In the 25 years since, I've been steeped in Hip Hop culture, a fan, follower, and participant in all elements of the culture over the years. I'm well-read in the history and foundations of the Hip Hop, so for me, this tour was the most anticipated highlight of my week-long vacation in NYC - it didn't disappoint! Not wanting to sound over-dramatic, the tour was an almost spiritual experience for me - visiting the key landmarks of Hip Hop's formative years, was a dream realised! Our host, Grandmaster Caz was a total star - his enduring passion for the culture was sincere and incredibly informative, documenting the birth of Hip Hop in the wider context of life in 1970's New York. It would be wrong to list the specific highlights of this tour here (I actually avoided the reviews before I booked, for fear of reading any 'spoilers'!) Suffice to say the tour was a fantastic experience, well-organised, educational, very 'interactive' with many surprises along the way! Highly recommended!

Great Tour, a must for HipHop Heads
Sat, Sep 20, 08   11:00 AM heinzel0302 Male 30-39 International Tourist(s) Individual
I attended the tour in September and I must say it was more than worth it. The tour was hosted by Grandmaster Caz who gave truly an indepth look in the history of Hip Hop. For me as a more new school guy (as I was born 1976) it was quite intersting to see all the places where it all started. Additionaly Caz could tell you everything first hand since he lived and still lives Hip Hop from the early beginning. So in all it was a great day and I can just recommend it to everyone who loves and lives Hip Hop or is just interested in this culture. Its really worth the money and time and you will make a great experience. Keep up the good work Hush Tours! Best wishes from CGN (Germany).....Andy P.S. When are you going to offer the BK tour on a more regular basis?
