Amazing insight - worth every dollar!

This was definitely a highlight of my week in New York. Our tour guide was Reggie Reg, who knew everything about Harlem, and I learned so much while walking around. I would say it's suitable even for those who don't love hip hop, just to get to know more about the area. And the $10 CD at the end is well worth it - excellent collection of old school tracks.

For someone who discover for the first time NY, Hip Hop Tour should be a part of the complete experience. Nowadays you cannot define New York city style without Hip Hop Culture. Cannot ignore it, or maybe if you go there exclusively for shopping... hahaha. How you could discover on your own the spots, how you could find out THE places, who else should guide you better than the one who made history? Those are only few reasons for taking the Hip Hop Tour. I enjoyed a lot those hours, and now I regret a lot for didn't have enough time to know you guys better. Congratulations for a very good ideea and for your generosity to share with us your experience. So: Suzi loves Hip Hop! Thank you all, THANK YOU Grandmaster Caz! Suzana Dan

My hip-hop pilgrimage

Muslims go to Mecca, Jews to Jerusalem. For a hip-hopper, there is a pilgrimage too. It's with Hush Tours with Grandmaster Caz, bussing through New York, hitting ever rap landmark there is. I spent 9 days in New York and this was the highlight of it all.

Something Different

I guarantee this will be unlike any other tourist activity NYC has to offer. In the 5 day l visited l did a range from Ground Zero to MOMA and while there's a place for everything this definetly adds something different. I'll be recommending it to my friends when they visit. On a negative tip these tours tend to be small groups of 3-5 people. Which is actually great. Infact l would have prefered it if it had been just our group. On a positive tip the main guide, Mickey D, was great. Thanks!

Great Tour

Me and my girlfriend were happy to know that Grandmaster Caz was taking our tour. He is a living testament to what real hip hop stands for, his knowledge, enthusiasm and love for it show throughout and he's not bad at a rap or two. We really enjoyed the tour around Harlem and The Bronx although I would have liked to have seen a little more of the areas of The Bronx if there was more time available. B-Boy Mighty Mouse came across as a warm character and did us a few moves and explained his love and knowledge of breaking. We saw some nice graff pieces in Spanish Harlem in the school yard and we managed to get a few snaps including a group one with Caz. The visit to 1520 Sedgwick Avenue where the first hip hop party started in '73 was good to see although it was different to what I expected but it was still good to be there. The food stop at the soul food cafe was nice, a good selection of everything you could think of to pile into a tray and fill your belly with. I would strongly recommend this tour as it was a good overall view of where things started in the early days of hip hop and a broad view of things in general over the years by someone who has been there since it started. Peace to Caz, he's ace!

Didn't happen!

Because of the weather and delayed airplanes, my tour didn't happen! I met John who appolozige for the inconvience and gave me a mix cd (free of charge) and gave the ticket value back. So next time I come to New York I will call them and schedule my tour, because they said I should do so and they will lay for me the red carpet! John was very kind and we spoke for a while about the todays bew york rap scene! So considering the sadness of not having the tour I am not totally sad because of the chat I had with him! Next it will be better!

If you have a love of hip hop and other historical facts about Harlem you definitely want to take this tour. It's pretty economical compared to other things you pay for in New York. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes and bring a camera. Our "celebrity" guide did not show up but John is very knowledgeable. You may want to bring along some extra cash so you can do a little shopping after the tour, too! We saw a few spots that were used in urban movies. The one thing I didn't like was how far away we ended up from our starting point. It's hard to get a cab in Harlem.

Great Tour, a must for HipHop Heads

I attended the tour in September and I must say it was more than worth it. The tour was hosted by Grandmaster Caz who gave truly an indepth look in the history of Hip Hop. For me as a more new school guy (as I was born 1976) it was quite intersting to see all the places where it all started. Additionaly Caz could tell you everything first hand since he lived and still lives Hip Hop from the early beginning. So in all it was a great day and I can just recommend it to everyone who loves and lives Hip Hop or is just interested in this culture. Its really worth the money and time and you will make a great experience. Keep up the good work Hush Tours! Best wishes from CGN (Germany).....Andy P.S. When are you going to offer the BK tour on a more regular basis?

A Hip Hop Delight!

My girlfriend and I were on vacation in New York from the UK. I was just 12 years old when I first experienced Hip Hop in 1983 (you can do the maths yourselves! ;-) In the 25 years since, I've been steeped in Hip Hop culture, a fan, follower, and participant in all elements of the culture over the years. I'm well-read in the history and foundations of the Hip Hop, so for me, this tour was the most anticipated highlight of my week-long vacation in NYC - it didn't disappoint! Not wanting to sound over-dramatic, the tour was an almost spiritual experience for me - visiting the key landmarks of Hip Hop's formative years, was a dream realised! Our host, Grandmaster Caz was a total star - his enduring passion for the culture was sincere and incredibly informative, documenting the birth of Hip Hop in the wider context of life in 1970's New York. It would be wrong to list the specific highlights of this tour here (I actually avoided the reviews before I booked, for fear of reading any 'spoilers'!) Suffice to say the tour was a fantastic experience, well-organised, educational, very 'interactive' with many surprises along the way! Highly recommended!

I would recommend this tour to any hip-hop enthusiast who is interested in learning more about the origins of the genre. Also a good chance to view the sights of Harlem and the Bronx, including the Apollo Theater and Rucker Park. The tour is probably a bit long, but that can be attributed to having to sit in NYC traffic.
