Hip Hop tour of Holland

John was terrific. I brought 4 Ca. friends, basically four demanding "president" types. All chiefs, no indians. He sized up the situation very accurately and was able to keep them all happy -- practically an impossiblity. I've known these ladies for 37 years. and this was not an easy task. I, as a musician, loved learning what he said about Hip Hop, something all of us classicists have a hard time understanding. I would very much like to know of a very good tour to hear Gospel singing and some of the the musicians John told me lead your tours. Pls. write me about these.

An excellent addition to the Hip Hop Tour

It has been almost one year since my family and I took the Hip Hop tour of Manhattan, Harlem and the Bronx. The Queens Bridge & Hollis tour is a nice complement for those seeking extra info. I must say that Mikey D. and Mark are very entertaining and you can tell they love their native borough of Queens. They made it as comprehensive as they could, pointing out to us all of the places and events that have shaped the hip hop culture within Queens. Thank you both for an enjoyable afternoon. Hey folks, you have already seen the empire state building, 42nd, the statue of liberty, the Met? Allright then the Harlem Walking tour might be just right for you. It brings you back to the roots of Hip Hop. Our tour guide had a lot of Charims, was always open for questions and new A LOT! Explore Harlem and Hip Hop, I would fully recommend this unusual NYC experience. Malko Ebers

Well, What can I say. I am a hip hop "head" from England and was well looking forward to this tour. Me and my girlfriend didn't really know what to expect but were going in the knowledge that we would see some sights that you wouldn't usually see doing usual tourist stuff, and also learn new stuff about Hip Hop. We were'nt disappointed. From start to finish everything about the tour was first class, the way it was run (Hush Tours Stand Up!!!!) company on the coach, the importance and general knowledge learnt from every site, the amount of time taken to explain where we were and how relevant the sites were and just the general overall feel of everything involved in the day. As i said Hush Tours were brilliant in every aspect of the day, and the whole tour for me (and my girlfriend) exceeded our expectations, however special mention needs to go to our tour guide on the day, the amazing JDL (Jerry Dee Lewis) form the pioneering Cold Crush Brothers. He was on point everywhere he took us, describing everything brilliantly and telling us his experiences and insights and what it was like back in the day. His passion and love of Hip Hop was apparent (obviously he was there, and had a big part to play) and it felt like he was loving this as much as we were. He was the perfect tour guide, always willing to answer questions and also willing to have a photo taken. Good lookin' JD!!! Overall, I would strongly recommend this tour to anyone. If you are well into your hip hop, you will fully appreciate everything here (and going to 1520 Sedgewick and meeting a legend is worth it anyway!!!) If you're slightly into hip hop, you get to see where it all started and learn more about the culture from a legend who was there. If you're not into hip hop (why not!? Only kidding!!) this is a chance to not only learn about the essence of an important component of not only American, but also Popular Culture, but also to see parts of New York that you wouldn't neccesarily have otherwise seen, with a great group of people, an excellent tour guide and a well organised friendly company. What are you waiting for....see where it started and where its at!!!!!

My husband is a big hip hop fan & I went along for the ride! But this was great for both of us - he was able to ask questions about things he already knew aswell as finding out new things & getting to see legendary hip hop sites, & I was able to get an understanding of some of the background to hip hop culture. It was also a great way to see some different parts of new york.

Loved the tour. Was engaged and entertained from start to finish. Loved Grandmaster Caz - what a guy - and was really interested in all he told us. Especially liked where we stopped for lunch. This little English white girl got her first taste of the oft' referenced 'collard greens'!

Awesome and recommendable! Taking u back to the roots in the Bronx and Harlem. Sometimes, especially in the end there was a long time of no talking/information on the bus. Could be improved! Peace

The tour started with as much energy as it ended. Grandmaster Caz and JDL were outstanding! You truly feel as if your are on a time machine, learning about all of the smaller footnotes of Hip-Hop that the rap industry has left out. You really get to come face to face with the struggle these legends have in trying to maintain the integrity that Hip-Hop began with. This is the only place where you can come to meet, talk to, and interact with a LIVING LEGEND. This is a one of a kind event, to be enjoyed by all cultures, races, ages, and backgrounds. If you love Hip-Hop, and really want a solid perspective on where it acme from, then I would reccomend this tour WITHOUT QUESTION!!!

Excellent tour, excellent guides, great value. I've toured the spiritual home of Opera [La Scala in Milan (Italy)] and been to the home of Ballet [Mariinsky in St. Petersburg (Russia)] ... the hip-hop tour of NYC is much more moving and a better experience !

Laughed, learned, participated and had 4 of the most interesting hours i've ever had in my time on this planet so far. Amazing hosts...sites and history all rolled into 1. Highly recommended even if you dont have an interest in the culture, because when you step off the bus at the end you will do ! Thanks Hush

A unique way to ditch traditional tour buses

Grandmaster Caz proved that hip hop ain't dead, and if this tour continues, it probably will never die. We had to leave for Switzerland on that Saturday evening on the last day of our week long trip and looked forward to the tour ALL week. We were not disappointed, from the start of the tour opening with the invincible Grandmaster Caz and crew rapping live on the bus right up to the cool ending of the Blackbirds "Rock Creek Park". The hiphop bus crew had the whole setup running slick, fast and totally engrossing for the four hours, which just flew past. We felt the history standing in the playgound where DJ Kool Hurk started the movement. We saw the once-scary streets of Harlem and the Bronx, which we never have visited alone (Great .... another typical European false stereotyping smashed!!) Not too sure if my back will recover from the impromptu breakdance lesson, but my wife had a great laugh watching me try to follow the resident expert Mighty Mouse. We'll treasure the experience as piece of the REAL New York. Peace !

The tour was good fun and I thought first of all that my son would enjoy it more than me but that was not the case. I really enjoyed listening to the histoy of Hip-Hop and it's roots. The soul food was fab too!
