Fun, Informative, Friendly!

I had a great time and learned a lot about the beginnings of the rap genre. Best parts: 1. I got to meet Raheim Williams from Grandmaster Flash! 2. We got to get off the bus and walk around the famous sites. 3. We got to take photos on and off the bus. 4. We ate at a fantastic soul food restaurant. 5. We got to see the Apollo Theater (the outside, anyway). 6. We felt safe the entire time. 7. Raheim performed an impromptu rap on the bus! 8. Guests got the chance to perform rap on the bus. 9. Raheim was genuinely friendly and funny! Things I would change: 1. Be able to enter the Apollo and look around. 2. See a break dance performance (I thought we were going to see one because there is a photo of one on the Zerve site). 3. Stress more that the souvenir CD samples songs and doesn't have the whole song. 4. Play more music on the bus. Match the songs to what the guide is discussing. Let the guide talk, then play a whole song, not just 10 seconds. Somehow more rap music should be worked into the presentation. 5. See a DJ demonstration in a gym or rec center (maybe combine it with the break dance). 6. Get a free t-shirt with each ticket purchased. 7. Pimp up the bus with spinning hubcaps, gold chains, etc...

Must for old school fans

For someone who loved the Furious Five as a teenager it was a huge thrill to go on a tour hosted by Rahiem. It was really good to see places in Harlem and the Bronx that I would never have gone to independently.

A MUST DO TOUR!

This was my first time in NYC but it will definitely not be my last. The tour was great! It gives you an inside look of the start of Hip Hop. Kurtis Blow was my tour guide and did a wonderful job telling the hip hop history and linking it to the sites along the tour. The tour also gives you a chance to see Harlem and Bronx. I recommend this to the "old and new school" hip hop fans.

This tour is the most interesting tour I ever experienced. I'm really interested in the hiphopculture en Grandmaster and his pioneers tell you all you wanna know. The graffity wall of fame is really spectacular and what I liked the most was that it was interesting for any typ of person, even if you don't like hiphop at all. People, you gotta experience this. Absolutely Essential!

I highly recommend this tour for hip hop fans, music afficionados and culture seekers of all types. This tour is not just about music - it is about history, and to have the legends, the historians who were there lead the tour is what makes it most special. My tour guide, Grandmaster Caz, was (and is) the real thing and absolutely made the entire experience worthwhile. The stories and sites focus on the origins of hip hop and don't go past the early 1980s too too much. If you're not already schooled in the "old school," you might not understand the relevance of some of the tour stops, but fortunately, this tour inspires you to dig deeper and learn more about the history. I enjoyed myself so much that next time I'm in NY, I plan to take the tour AGAIN and bring a friend! djsoulsister

The Hip Hop Tour led by Pioneering Legends of Rap was GREAT! You do not only see and hear hip hop, but you feel it with your own body. By experiencing this tour, you are able to get a new, deeper look into Hip Hop. Can't expereince it any where else!

This tour was great! Grandmaster Caz was very entertaining and informative. My homeboy and I planned for months to go on this tour when in NYC, and we were not disappointed. They took us to some very memoriable spots, and I took some great pictures at the Graffiti Hall of Fame. The lunch spot was off the hook. It was right up the street from the world famous Appollo, and it was a buffet. I am a vegetarian, and found plenty there to eat. Very tasty. Next time I go to NYC, I'm taking the subway to that restauraunt. Even if someone knows NOTHING about hip hop, I believe they would completely enjoy this tour. To see pictures of this tour, look for my New York adventure blog on my website: www.southeasthiphop.org on the links page. Also make sure you tune into www.wutkradio.com every Saturday Night for the Edutainment Hip Hop Show. Aight.

An Awesome Pilgrimage to the home of Hip-Hop

From Arriving in New York on Thursday I had been looking forward to the Saturday for the Hip-Hop tour and it didn't dissappoint. From being a die hard fan of the music and culture this was my highlight. Going back to the birth place of Hip-Hop was only right and with hush tours they know where to take you. With a legend like Kurtis Blow leading the tour and Heading down to the Boogie Down Bronx and seeing where it all started was a real experience. Heading up to Harlem 125th St and Malcolm X Blvd & seeing the 'Real New York' is a must. With Kurtis knowing everyone in Harlem we were able to go into the Appollo Theater and have our photo's taken in the world famous theater. Cheers Kurtis!!. Not forgetting an all you can eat Soul Food Lunch. We also headed down to the world famous Rucker Park. All in all this is a great tour. And not many tour companies would still let you on the tour even though you had accidentally booked for the next week by mistake!!( always double check the date take it from me!!) So if your in New York and love Hip-Hop check this tour out!!! Simon Weir aka DJ Si

Honest introduction to the roots of Hip Hop

For those of us who are too young to know (and that should include most of the people interested in the Hip Hop culture today) the roots of Hip Hop and how it came about this is an exciting tour. Personally, I would have liked to know more about the pioneering Graffiti artists and the environment that spurred them. Nevertheless this tour is highly enjoyable for anyone who ever wanted to know anything about the infancy of Hip Hop and what it was like back in the days ....

This brief but informative tour takes you back in the hay day of when Hip Hop was first created. From the Graffiti Hall of Fame to Harlem World. From Bronx Walk of Fame to the Apollo Theater. It was well worth it for Hip Hop appreciators to Hip Hop heads. Thanks again for the dope experience!
