A must do in NYC!!!

This tour was off the hook!! Grandmaster Caz and Rahiem were so engaging and the best tour hosts you could ask for. Their wealth of knowlegde about the beginnings of rap was unbelievable and it was such a privilege to be in the company of 2 founders of the whole hip hop game. Not to mention how cool it was to have a tour takes you thru Harlem and the Bronx to see the real NY and not just your typical Manhattan tourist sites. All the sites we saw were amazing and damn, that soul food lunch, yum yum!!! This tour was the highlight of my trip for real and I would recommend this to anyone visiting NYC. If you don't love and have an appreciation for hip hop now, it's guaranteed you will after this tour!!

Seriously, if you're into to Hip Hop you have to go on this tour, but even if you're not, you should go anyway and learn loads of cool stuff! We went with friends who're not that into Hip Hop and they loved the tour. Really interesting, even if you know a lot about hip hop, you're garanteed to see or hear something on this tour that you would probably never get to see otherwise. Thanks Grand Master Caz!

This tour was fun and I learned a tremendous amount not just about hip hop, but about boroughs that tourists normally don't visit. Gransmaster Caz was our tour guide and not only is he talented at all things hip hop, he's funny and really fun to hang out with throughout the tour! These guys really are the pioneers of hip hop so you get the ground floor story about the beginnings of hip hop. Did you know hip hop started with a party?!??! pretty sweet and you get to see where that party happened!

A BIG CHEAT
Sat, Jun 16, 07   11:00 AM mberon Male 20-29 International Tourist(s) Group of Friends
This activity was a big cheat. First, we stopped in a "graffiti mural" at East Harlem, which wasn't as good as the Long Island City one. Second stop was to make some basketball shots at Harlem, too. But the best was after, Grandmaster Caz said: "Let's go to the Bronx", and the Bronx which we saw was the Yankee Stadium title from the bridge, and then, back to Manhattan. I was stupefact, but nobody said nothing. The best thing too was we took a hat and chains around the neck by the staff, but at the end, we must return to them... (The hat was no Kangol, and the chains can be found at Chinatown...) The paradox is that the other excursion with Hush Tours was in the other extreme, was very dope and interesting.

Well, What can I say. I am a hip hop "head" from England and was well looking forward to this tour. Me and my girlfriend didn't really know what to expect but were going in the knowledge that we would see some sights that you wouldn't usually see doing usual tourist stuff, and also learn new stuff about Hip Hop. We were'nt disappointed. From start to finish everything about the tour was first class, the way it was run (Hush Tours Stand Up!!!!) company on the coach, the importance and general knowledge learnt from every site, the amount of time taken to explain where we were and how relevant the sites were and just the general overall feel of everything involved in the day. As i said Hush Tours were brilliant in every aspect of the day, and the whole tour for me (and my girlfriend) exceeded our expectations, however special mention needs to go to our tour guide on the day, the amazing JDL (Jerry Dee Lewis) form the pioneering Cold Crush Brothers. He was on point everywhere he took us, describing everything brilliantly and telling us his experiences and insights and what it was like back in the day. His passion and love of Hip Hop was apparent (obviously he was there, and had a big part to play) and it felt like he was loving this as much as we were. He was the perfect tour guide, always willing to answer questions and also willing to have a photo taken. Good lookin' JD!!! Overall, I would strongly recommend this tour to anyone. If you are well into your hip hop, you will fully appreciate everything here (and going to 1520 Sedgewick and meeting a legend is worth it anyway!!!) If you're slightly into hip hop, you get to see where it all started and learn more about the culture from a legend who was there. If you're not into hip hop (why not!? Only kidding!!) this is a chance to not only learn about the essence of an important component of not only American, but also Popular Culture, but also to see parts of New York that you wouldn't neccesarily have otherwise seen, with a great group of people, an excellent tour guide and a well organised friendly company. What are you waiting for....see where it started and where its at!!!!!

My wife and I took our two teenage sons on the tour when we were on holiday in New York. We had expected to endure the tour rather than enjoy it. The opposite was certainly the case. The day we went it was very very cold. New york was just getting over it's biggest ever single snow fall. The warmth of the greeting we received along with the burning enthusiasm made sure it was all worthwhile. The guides, Rahiem and Red Alert gave us a lot of good information with passion and humour. There was loads of interaction with us. I was personaly struck by the fact that neither of these guys needed to be there. It was not a chore for them. They were obviously keen to impart their love of Hip-Hop and Rap to a wider audience. The highlights for me were the performance on the bus by Rahiem and the meal in the very good restaurant in Harlem. The boys loved it all. There are only two small points I would like to make that might improve things slightly: firstly it may be an idea to forget the hat and bling, give them to the guests to keep, or at least let them know when they are given out that they are only on loan. The other thing is that I'm sure an arrangement could be made to allow the tour guides to get a key for the graffiti wall, particularly as this tour promotes such a positive image of the art. A truly amazing experience

It was an excellent day, something you must experieance if you have had any interest at all in the roots of hiphop. Covering every aspect of the culture I found the tour very informative and entertaining. This was largely due to having Grandmaster Caz as our host, it was great to hear his unbiased and detailed story of the early days of hiphop and the part he played in it. Higlights of the day included visiting 106 and park grafitti hall of fame, somewhere I have wanted to visit for many years - Excellent pieces by Dez, Ink76, Pink and Tats Crew. We also enjoyed visiting Rucker Park where we were given an exhibition in b-boying by some of the locals. Another highlight was visiting the Apollo theatre in Harlem, where we had the oppotunity to get off the bus and take photos. The only disappointing thing on an otherwise excellent day was not being able to actually enter the Hall of fame which was locked - although still managed to get some excellent photos. Just being able to visit places I had only ever seen in films and books was a truly amazing experience that I would recommend to anyone.
