It was my first time to NYC and out of all the tours we participated in, this was by far the best. Being a fan of Old School Hip Hop and wanting to see the sights of both Harlem and The Bronx, this tour killed 2 birds with one stone. The tour was packed with plenty of sites to see and Grandmaster Caz's sheer enthusiasm, knowledge and friendliness went a long way. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in either the history of Hip Hop or just seeing another side to New York. My wife, who had no prior interest in Hip Hop, thoroughly enjoyed it and that is testament to Caz and to the team behind Hush Tours. |

We were very excited about the Tour. Unfortunately they cancelled it ! We had flown in from Europe and I thought this was going to be so exciting. It is true that they informed us with 2 days notice and the reason was that they had not sold enough tickets. Apparently the "small print" stipulates that they can do this. We understand this however more than a month later we have still not been reimbursed !
So would we try again, yes probably,..... was the phone service pleasant - yes .... but be aware you may have disappointed teenagers to manage and need to hassle to get reimbursed if they cancel.
Enjoy NY ! |

Being a long-time hiphop head, I obviously enjoyed this tour and was really excited to see sites that were important to the creation of today's hiphop culture. However, on our tour there was also tourists who weren't heavily into hiphop, but from my discussions with them after the tour they also loved and strongly endorsed it.
In summary -
If you like hiphop - do the tour.
If you don't mind hiphop - do the tour.
If you hate hiphop - you should probably still do the tour cause then you'll move into one of the above categories.
Also, Grandmaster Caz is an incredible tour guide - he thrives on teaching about events/places/people that were important to his youth and to the early years of hiphop. As a guide he is ridiculously entertaining, very funny and educating - something that a lot of other companies' tour guides could learn from. |

This is a wonderful tour -- I enjoyed it immensely even though my knowledge of hip-hop was minimal (I sure know more now!) The tour is interactive, making it lots of fun. Each site is well chosen and important to the history of hip-hop. The tour overall provides a good sense of hip-hop's place in the broader history of New York and of its cultural importance both locally and globally. Grand Master Caz' narrative throughout was very informative and entertaining -- LOTS of fun! Take this tour. You'll be glad you did. Great time for any age! |

To really round out a tour of New York City, I think this is one of the tours that will make every other tour you take a richer experience. Number one, you get off the beaten path of New York City to the point where you're seeing the "real" New York (there are many and this is one) and streets of New York and neighborhoods that contribute to New York as a whole, not just a tourist destination. This tour is fun, it's informative, the DJ tour guides are full of little diamonds of information about not just hip hop. I lived in New York during the birth of hip hop, or at least it's pre-adolescence in the early 80's and it was great to travel to Harlem and The Bronx and get perspective on a lot of the things that were going on musically and culturally at the time. It's a great tour to see firsthand what can only be considered a true New York renaissance -- what's happening uptown and in the Bronx may be called "gentrification", but the restoration of the beautiful architecture in neighborhoods north of 110th Street (and below) is astounding. It's worth it for that aspect alone. These neighborhoods are SAFE. This is not a scary or adventure-seeking tour, it's steeped in culture about a thriving industry that has truly influenced the world. Don't believe it? Take this tour and find out. And if you have kids between 10 and 20, they will love you for this break in the NYC Tours circuit. And the lunch is fabulous, at least mine was. It was at Jacobs on 129th Street, which is now near the top of my list for places to eat in New York. Highly recommend this tour and the flashback to the beginnings of hip-hop culture. |

My friend and I enjoyed our hip hop tour greatly and learned all about the hip hop culture. DJ Caz made the tour super fun and the music bursting through the speakers added the "party element." |

This tour was a highlight of our trip to New York. The guides were two members of the Cold Crush Brothers. They were extremely well spoken, informed and friendly. They went out of their way to make sure that everyone got the most out of the tour - posing for pictures, answering questions and giving firsthand information about hip hop's early years. I would recommend this tour to anyone - even non hip hop fans. |

GrandMaster Caz (Casanova Fly!!) and J.D.L. did an excellent job entertaining us the whole time. Great singing performance, best ever storytelling about the foundation of hiphop!! This tour was defenetly our highlight in NYC.
If someone on earth is capeable of keeping hiphop alive, than it´s Grandmaster Caz and J.D.L.
The tour was worth every cent and highly recommanded for someone who´s interested in the culture of hiphop and it´s birthplays.
Ten out of ten for it!!! Never forgotten, burned in our brains and our memory!!!
