Hip Hop Tour was a highlight

I booked the Hip Hop Tour for my daughter who's really into rap and street dance. She was apprehensive, but we both loved the tour, and our host Reggie Reg, was fab. It was great to learn about the five disciplines of Hip Hop and to understand how the genre evolved. We also got to see some amazing graffiti. This tour was one of the highlights of our week in New York. Can thoroughly recommend it.

Music Lovers Don't Miss this Tour!

I booked this tour for my nephew aged 13 years thoroughly believing I would hate it as I'm an R'nB girl not really into hip hop. How surprised I was! Reggie Reg of the Crash Crew who led the tour was my age group & "Lady Love" aka Denise assisted him. Reggie was very informative & allowed me to make sense of the music I used to listen to by Grand Master Flash & the Sugar Hill Gang. The hip hop history tour through Harlem & the Bronx was great & took in the iconic sights of not only Yankee Stadium & the Apollo Theater but also 1520 Sedgwick Avenue where it all began & 5 Pointz where the graffiti artists are legally allowed to ply their trade. In a nutshell, I loved it all. It was also good to see two of New York's neighbourhoods through the eyes of locals. Reggie & Denise thank you for a fun four hours which I know my nephew will not forget, as I have the only photograph (taken with Reggie) he was willing to pose for during our stay in New York. Great insights in the history of HipHop

We have a great memory of last Saturday's tour with Grandmaster Caz and JDL! Both icons talked and walked us through the history of HipHop with a great deal of pride and enthusiasm. The intermezzo in Spanish Harlem where some of our small group were invited to join a B-Boy/B-Girl introduction dance on a playground created a great vibe. Picking up a glimpse of the Bronx namely the blocks where it all started and the commemorate plaques was a nice addition but we would have loved to have seen some street performance or dance battle in that area on a Saturday. We're sure Hush Tours could arrange for that. At the end of the tour we happily bought the DVD and CD from Grandmaster Caz. This tour will stay in our memories for ever. The kids (18 & 13) were just like us absolutely delighted. Well done guys!

A girl in my class asked me if I wanted to try something new. Of course I wanna try something new and special! I was ready to try it in New York because I was wanted to know more about the hiphip-style. It was a cool tour with laugher, information, photograph, new style and I was having fun all the time!

I'm really glad I took this tour. I was in NYC only 3 and a half days--and this was the highlight of my trip. I learned a lot about the early days of hip hop and had a lot of fun too. The soul food buffet we stopped at in Harlem was great too. Grandmaster Caz and JDL were great guides--good storytellers and attentive to everyone on the tour. I loved Mighty Mouse's breakdancing too. If I ever come back to New York, I would definitely like to take one of the other hip hop tours.

Great Experience

This is not just a tour. It's part sightseeing, part concert, part broadway show. It even has a soundtrack that follows the hip hop history you learn and see. What makes this tour great is that it's a living history. The hip hop genre and culture continue to evolve and we're taught by Grandmaster Cas, who is not just a tour guide reading from a script or history book, but is a both a historical and continuing participant in the hip hop story. It's more like a first-hand oral history session. The best part of travel is not seeing sights and taking pictures, but experiencing the culture and the people. In this tour, you get that great experience, plus, you learn that the New York hip hop movement has spread beyond the roots you get to see, to bring this distinctly American culture - full of the freedom of expression, rebellion, fun and joy embodied in our fundamental right to pursue happiness - to all parts of the world. Even the food at the end was fantastic!

This tour was worth the money and the time. My husband is a die hard hip hop fan and he could not wait for this tour and to take our son to learn the history of the art form and I honestly ended up enjoying it as much as they did. It captured our attention at our ages of 35 and 38 but it also captivated our 13 year old son and for the rest of the weekend our son was rhyming, beat boxing and trying to break dance. It was great for him to see and hear the history that created this art form especially in today's culture where most rap isn't about anything of substance. I highly recommend this tour.

We liked the fact that the tour was bringing us outside the regular boundries. We thought we knew everything about hip-hop, bet we didn't. The tourguides were excellent and made it a party to take the tour with. Thanks to Hush tours for providing the world with this tour.

Well-worth the time, the Birthplace of Hip Hop Tour provides a great introduction for the die-hard hip hop fan or the casual listener. Caz, JDL and the rest of the Hush crew provide first-hand knowledge of the history of hip hop and are great hosts for an afternoon of above-ground sightseeing across Manhattan, Harlem, Queens and the Bronx. For our group visiting the city for the first time, any concerns about spending 4 hours on a bus tour were eliminated within the first hour. We got more than our money's worth, had a great time seeing all parts of the city and took away lots of new facts about the history of hip hop. If you're looking for an intimate and expertly guided tour of New York City and hip hop music, you can't go wrong with Hush Tours and the Birthplace of Hip Hop Tour.
