You don't need to be heavily into Hip-Hop to enjoy this tour, but hey, this is the safest route into seeing the Bronx, which is a part of New York that most international tourist who are afraid to see. I am an Australian MC and my love in Hip-Hop has called me upon this tour not only to see why there's Hip-Hop, I was given the opportunity to see what lies in the shadows of New York.
The Bronx and the Harlem certainly upholds the richest history, especailly for the African-American culture. It begins with the hey days of funk or soul music up to Hip-Hop music. This was more than worthwhile spending 4 hours of my time on the hush tour and gained important knowledge in the rich history of Hip-Hop and other African-American music for the last 50 years. |

As a hip hop lover this tour was truly a must for me in NYC, but hip hop aside this is just a GREAT tour period!
We were lucky enough to have Grandmaster Caz and JDL as our hosts for the day and from the moment we met at the agreed location the day was just incredible. We started out in Harlem at the Graffiti Hall Of Fame and then worked our way through the streets of Harlem past the Apollo, Hotel Theresa and the original Harlem World just to name a few spots. We ended up at the birthplace of Hip Hop in the Bronx where we were free to take a few snaps and a group one for the website and we ended the day with a great Soul Food meal in Harlem.
I cannot say enough about both JDL and Caz as the hosts for the day... they are two of the most charismatic New Yorkers you will ever meet, and their energy and friendliness on the tour really just takes the experience to a whole other level.
Whilst just being able to visit these historic sites was enough for me as a hip hop lover, my fiance and her friend who also came along weren't the biggest hip hop fans in the world yet I can assure you that by the end of the tour they were gushing in their reviews and said hands down this was one of the best tours that we did during our entire trip in the US!!!!!
Please be clear... if you are thinking about doing any of the tours stop thinking, get your credit card out and just book it... It is definitely money that will be well spent... I cannot wait to visit NYC again so I can take the other tours that are on offer... were it not for the Blizzard this year we would have done them all...
Grandmaster Caz and JDL - thank you guys from the bottom of our hearts for such a great experience and we can't wait to see you guys again on another tour! |

Grandmaster Caz & JDL of the Cold Crush brothers were our tour guides and they did a great job. This is the first time I went on a tour where the guides rap for you, hang out with you, talk to you, get off the bus with you, eat with you, everything.
Interesting, fun, and a good time that is very well worth it. |

This tour comes highly recommended...
Aside from it being lots of fun, there's plenty to learn and I think it would appeal to people who aren't even big hip hop fans.
It was pretty amazing to have someone like Grandmaster Caz showing us around, he's a great tour guide and host and very much a part of the pioneering groups in hip hop. |

Grandmaster Caz and JDL gave a great tour de force into the origins, pillars and history of hip hop. With hip hop permeating the airwaves and penetrating most other music and dance genres to the point of dominance, it is extremely interesting to learn about the origins and history. Apart from being very knowledgeable, Caz is a charismatic, engaging and energizing host, making sure that everyone has a good time. And then of course the story of Caz writing a large portion of the rhymes for Sugarhill's legendary Rapper Delight, but never getting acknowledgement or paid is both slightly painful and instructive...The tour comes highly recommended, and we will definitely take one or two of the other tours when we are back in the Big Apple. |

Hands-down the best tour I have ever taken in my life. Grandmaster Caz was an amazing guide, guiding us through the past in Hip-Hop history. Grandmaster Caz and JDL (Cold Crush Brothers) have been in the game for 37 years (Hip-Hops Age). Grandmaster Caz was extremely informative and was able to answer any questions about Hip-Hop. Grandmaster Caz was very funny and knowledge-able, and could talk about it all, like it was yesterday for him. Next time I come to New York I will be taking the rest of the tours that Hush Tours has to offer. |
