After several days of fast paced sight seeing, it was nice to be escorted in a comfortable motor coach and be driven to each site. My favorite highlights were the dance session and lunch at the soul food diner in Harlem |

The tour was the highlight of my trip, YO! I'm telling you it was the best ever! First off my party was late due to NY traffic and me not knowing where I was going. JDL called to check if we were lost. He gave directions to the location. I was so surprised and pleased I didn't miss out on the tour. When we walk up JDL greeted then got us in the bus and from there it was on. Caz was very funny and informative about his craft. My mom even learned some new things. Harlem felt like home, to see and feel the jazz in the air was a good thing. To see all the black businesses, black people and the history I felt proud. JDL and Caz made us feel like family as well and they looked after us. I appreciate that along with the love JDL and Caz showed, the history they know, all the ear candy they produced that we all love and know. I'll be back! |

Besides minor problems with the bus, I had a great time on the Birthplace of Hip Hop Tour. It was unlike any tour I have experienced. JDL and Grandmaster Caz were enthusiastic guides that really got me involved in the conversation. The information they shared was and still is relevant. More importantly, they were passionate about it. The Birthplace of Hip Hop Tour exceeded my expectations.
JDL and Grandmaster Caz make a great team. Their knowledge, personal experience, and humor really made the the tour memorable. I also appreciate their willingness to answer my many questions and engage other participants that had little working knowledge of Hip Hop's history.
Thank you for the great experience! |

I signed up for this tour not expecting much. Prior to the tour I didn't really know who Grandmaster Caz was. I mean, being an avid hip hop fan, I'd heard of him, but I didn't really enderstand his significant contribution to the start of hip hop. I know who Red Alert is, and when I found out that Caz was going to be my guide I was a little disappointed. I figured at the very least, I'd get to see some of the hoods in a semi safe environment. But Caz and his homeboy JDL delivered! As soon as the tour kicked off they were entusiastic and interactive. We not only saw a bunch of historical hip hop sites, but Caz schooled us in hip hop, it's origins, what looks like, smells like, and tastes like. It was a phenominal experience for everyone. I highly reccomend that if you're in NY that this goes high on the to do list. When I come back with my kids (4 boys) we're all going to go. |

From the momment you walk up. You are greeted with warmth and the anticipation of excitment. JDL, is so enthusiastic and passionate he makes you feel as if your one of the Family by calling you by your Name. Once you enter onto the bus, It's a pure Adrenaline Rush. Then the Legendary GrandMaster Caz. Arrives and takes you down a Historical Trip of Actual Events that make Hip Hop Extraordinary. We got treated to a live Proformance of Break Dancing by '' Mighty Mouse'' a NYC B-Boy [sorry can't recall his crew]. I Highly Recommend This tour to Everyone who Appricates REAL HIP HOP at it's Finest. The Food Stop will have you begging for more. Because of thier wide variety, Will Satisfy All Taste. You gotta take this tour. Thanks guys for showing me Soo much Love. Peace |

A friend and I (also in her 60's) took 2 nephews on a high school graduation trip to NYC. In searching for things to do I came across HUSH Tours and signed us up for the Hip-Hop Tour this past Saturday. The guys certainly were knowledgable but we seniors had very limited knowledge. To say this tour was outstanding might be a bit of an understatement. We all came away with a much better understanding of hip hop, what it is and how it came into being. Caz is a wonderful storyteller - enthusiastic, articulate, knowledgable, great at engaging people and just an all around colorful personality. His best pal (JDL - or DJL?) was also wonderful calling us by name as we walked up to check in - a great welcoming touch! He is funny, enthusiastic, and a good jack of all trades. Both men live hip hop and their love of it comes shining through and contributes to the fantastic job they do.
This tour was truly one of the highlights of our trip and I would recommend it to anyone. Even if you are not a lover of hip hop this tour takes you to the birthplace of a music genre that in a short 35+ years has made a tremendous impact on our culture and on popular music as we know it today. It's pretty incredible to see a cultural phenomenon so up close and personal.
Hats off to HUSH Tours and our guides! |
