If you have a love of hip hop and other historical facts about Harlem you definitely want to take this tour. It's pretty economical compared to other things you pay for in New York. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes and bring a camera. Our "celebrity" guide did not show up but John is very knowledgeable. You may want to bring along some extra cash so you can do a little shopping after the tour, too! We saw a few spots that were used in urban movies. The one thing I didn't like was how far away we ended up from our starting point. It's hard to get a cab in Harlem. |

Walk This Way was an enjoyable, informative and interactive adventure into rap's early days.
Our guide, Reggie Regg, was extremely engaging, knowledgable and took time in keeping to the program as well as to adlib when asked questions from the group.
I would recommend this tour to all ages and would like to try another. |

My son and I took this tour after I read about it on line. I'm not a hip hop fan but knew my son listened to it often. We both enjoyed it very much. Me as new to the music and learning to appreciate it's background and importance to it's fans. My son as learning about the history and development of some of his favorite artists.
Our tour guide John did a great job and made the walk very interesting. And fun.
We agreed that during our next trip to NYC we will take the whole day bus tour and see even more next time. |

Our guide was knowledgeable and engaging. We learned quite a bit about the origins of hip hop and about Harlem. Problems with the mike as I saw on previous reviews. |

John was terrific. I brought 4 Ca. friends, basically four demanding "president" types. All chiefs, no indians. He sized up the situation very accurately and was able to keep them all happy -- practically an impossiblity. I've known these ladies for 37 years. and this was not an easy task. I, as a musician, loved learning what he said about Hip Hop, something all of us classicists have a hard time understanding. I would very much like to know of a very good tour to hear Gospel singing and some of the the musicians John told me lead your tours. Pls. write me about these. |

Overall, I thought the experience was well intentioned but I felt it came up short in a few ways. Our guide was very friendly and personable. It was great to have a member of a pioneering hiphop group, but I felt he could have benefited from some specific training in tour operation. He brought up a lot of interesting facts and stories but I thought his historical knowledge was a bit sprawling and patchy.
The tour was really about the origins of hiphop more than anything, and not so much it's evolution. Basically we got as far as RUN DMC (which is really just the beginning), and stopped there. Also, the video at the beginning, while interesting did not relate to hiphop specifically. I think the video should be recommended to the tour group but should not take up a half hour of the tour.
Great idea, many simple ways to make it alot better. |

We had a unique opportunity to spend time with and learn about the beginning of the Hip Hop Culture that has become just as important and world changing in the music industry as Rock and Roll and Jazz. To get the chance to have such a professional tour through a fasinating and culture-rich community is price-less.
We felt very safe and fortunate to have someone well known on the streets and we felt welcomed. My daughters were very amazed and impressed with all the locals who spoke to Reggie Reg. They truly felt that we were with a legend!
There is such a wealth of knowledge a traveler can absorb by this type of wonderful resource in a unique tour!
I would recommend anyone that loves music, appreciated history or has children....to support this tour and enjoy!~

My teenage kids and I enjoyed this tour. The walking was a reasonable pace and we saw Harlem, heard the stories and the music. We really loved the stop at the park and seeing the graffiti work. It is amazing. Reggie was very interested in all of the group and spent extra time with us, showing us the music shop, a real soul food lunch and a real graffiti shop. I can say without hesitation that this tour is for everyone and the most memoriable experience of our vacation. |
