Enjoyable and Informative
The Union Square Chocolate, Wine & Culture Tour

I wasn't quite sure what kind of a tour this would be, but was impressed with the knowledge of the surrounding area that our tour guide had. He was charming and very personable. Except for the chocolate company that we visited that actually made the chocolate on the premises we had no contact with anyone other then the counter people who gave us the chocolate upon our arrival. By the time we arrived at our final destination I wasn't really interested in tasting any more chocolate. I love chocolate, but was more interested in the interesting information that we learned on the way.

The Union Square Chocolate, Wine & Culture Tour

This was my THIRD chocolate adventure with Bert! And, as usual, the experience was entertaining and educational and well worth my precious time while visiting the best city in the world! The chocolatiers we visitied seemed enthusiastic about the opportunity to tell us about their products and the addition of bakery thoughts was a nice new wrinkle. If you haven't discovered the Union Square neighborhood yet, this tour is a must just to get Bert's perspective of this incredibly interesting part of NYC ...to say nothing about the delicious port served at our first stop!!

I loved this tour and so did my friends. At frist I thought it was too expensive but I love chocolate so I opened my mind and said let's do it. The guide ,Bert, was great and his knowledge of chocolate was even better. I WAS only a milk chocolate person before this tour. I tried the dark chocolate and was amazed at what good dark chocolate can taste like. Walking made it seem like we were following a trail of chocolate from one place to the next. I was very glad that we went and would do it again when we come back to New York

The chocolate tour was one of the highlights of our long weekend trip. Bert was an amazingly knowledgeable and extremely personable guide who explained each shop's specialties along with its history and character. The samples were exquisite and we enjoyed each shop's unique offerings. We did return to a couple shops later to purchase chocolates we had tasted or to choose something entirely different. Thanks you for allowing us to experience a totally unique side of New York City! I can't wait to return to New York and do the Soho Chocolate Tour next! Highly and enthusiastically recommended!

The 2.5 hour walking tour was very special. The guide was informative and entertaining, I learned a lot about chocolate in general and chocolate making in NYC. You get to choose 2 chocolates to taste at 5 different shops, we also tasted some exquisite hot chocolate. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Jan from Canada

This tour (the NYC Luxury Chocolate Tour) was my formal introduction to the theme of chocolate. Although I have tasted a LOT of chocolate throughout the years, it is the first time I have been instructed in the basics and amplitude of the subject. The walk was nice, as it takes place on the Upper East Side, although I would recommend this tour for a time when the city is less crowded. The chocolate tasting was absolutely fantastic. It is the best chocolate I have ever tasted, both in liquid and solid form. The information provided by the guide was detailed, practical and entertaining, although a little lacking in accuracy (one of the chocolatiers visited was hailed as the seller of the most expensive chocolate in the world, although I found out later in Forbes that it is not... it is one of the top ten, though) and he was very amenable, courteous and friendly. All in all, it was a wonderful experience and worth every penny. I will be doing the SoHo tour next time.

Benefits of chocolate touring

Treat the women in your life (wife, girlfriend, mother, daughter, sister, spinster aunt, etc) to this tour and you will be highly regarded. They will forget for the moment that you are just winging it and have no idea what these wacky creatures called women really want from you except they do seem to like chocolate and if you can provide the good stuff then a multitude of sins are forgiven. Be a hero for a change. And you get tasty candy, some harmless exercise, and possibly learn something.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Chocolate Tour that I took with my mom over the Thanksgiving holiday. Our tour guide was great - very knowledgeable and very relaxed. We got to enjoy two pieces of wonderful chocolate at each location and some of the BEST hot chocolate I've ever had in my life! I'll definitely be revisiting those chocolate shops on my next trip to the city! :)

A fun alternative in New York

The chocolate tour was a great way to walk around some of the most interesting and varied parts of new york away from the main Tourist/Shopping areas whilst indulging on the best chocolate. It's a little on the expensive side but then you think about the cost and quality of the chocolate and its not too bad, plus the guide is entertaining and knowledgeable.

Choco-orgasmic!

My wife and I love chocolate, so it was only natural to sign up for the New Cuisine Chocolate tour on our recent visit to the city. First of all, Bert was excellent. He was a great host and made the tour very enjoyable. Our five stops with diverse tastings exposed us to shops we would never have found on our own. Bert's knowledge of the NYC chocolate scene and his friendship with the shop owners and staff, gave us the inside look and taste of top of the line sweets. We highly recommend this tour as a unique was to experience the city and give your tongue a memorable choco-orgasm!

Tour was fine but overpriced.. 10 pieces of chocolate for $70 doesn't sound like a great deal, but you'll go places you might not have otherwise.

Too expensive

I thought that $70 per person was much too costly for the tour which was 2 hours in 5 chocolate shops. We really didn't get to see chocolate being made, except for Bloomingdales which I could see any time I visited the store. They also give out free samples to anyone who passes by. However, my 13 year old grandson really enjoyed it., and if he enjoyed it , that's good enough for me.
