We lucked out and got a private tour as others cancelled. Our guide was amazing and went out of her way to entertain. Definitely recommend and look forward to another tour. |

Chocolate Heaven

I felt l I was in chocolate heaven. Fun, delicious and informative.
Our guide, Lindsay Jean, was very enthusiastic in sharing her knowledge and love of chocolate. Our only regret was that we did not get to see an actual candy factory in active production as it was a holiday. As Lindsay Jean put it , it was "an enjoyable experience in chocolate molecular gastronomy". |

I went on this tour as part of a bachelorette party for a friend. It was a unique, fun event to do as a group. Our tour guide was great. She was very enthusiastic and informative the whole time. She didn't rush us and at the same time didn't spend too much time in any one place. I would definitely recommend something like this for a fun group outing. |

Our awesome afternoon with Linzi Jean

My sister and I had the pleasure of the tour guide all to ourselves as the others in the group hijacked the tour the day before. I myself have lived in Manhattan and had no idea this tour existed. It was my visiting sister from Wisconsin who is a real "Foodie", that found this tour listed online. It's just one of the many things we had scheduled during her visit.
We met Linzi at the first location at noon and so began our two hours of chocolate tasting heaven. We visited four locations, one of which I was familiar with. The knowledge that Linzi had though made it new to me because you really come to understand why it is the way it is. I enjoyed that place's chocolate all the more.
The second local was a Belgium shop, my favorite kind of chocolate. The gentleman that worked there seemed to enjoy our visit as much as we did. He was friendly and engaging and the chocolate was AMAZING! This was a perfect stop also as they sold rather cheap, but very well made, insulated canvas bags to keep the chocolate we purchased from all four locations from melting in the hot hot sun. It was 93 that day and humid. Not a good mix for our tasty treats.
The third stop was our favorite part of the tour. The chocolate was good, not my favorite, but it was the shop itself that was amazing. It was like a coffee bar plucked out of Paris. Plush velvet booths and crystal chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. It was gorgeous just to look at. We sampled a couple chocolates and had the privilage to sit and have a small sample of the hot chocolate they offer on the menu. We sat with Linzi probably far longer than most of her groups. We spent a half hour just talking about mutual tastes in food and food tv shows. Which led to chats about fashion, as we were near Bryant Park, and just personal interests. We had the best time just sitting back, drinking hot chocolate on a hot day in a little bit of Paris. It was after a long while that we realized we needed to hit one more spot if she was to stay on schedule for the rest of her day.
The fourth place was an English chocolate bar. I like but personally don't love English chocolate. The local was great, very inventive in design. After our tasting we sat for a few more minutes with Linzi where she gave us a couple of other places she recommend we hit around town before my sister leaves, based on everything she learned about us that afternoon.
We had the BEST time with Linzi, and it became the highlight of my sisters visit. So much so that we plan to take some of Linzi's other food tours when she comes to visit in the future. I can't recommend this tour enough and the wonderful time we had with our guide. |

We had a great experience on the tour. The guide was helpful with both the tour and other areas in New York City. The chocolate shops were very friendly also. |

This was a 21st bday mother/daughter treat.
All the stops on the visit provided superb choc samples, and the tour guide was very enthusiastic, informative and helpful. We paid up as, being chocoholics, we thought it might be worth it, and also it was a special occasion. We would recommend everything about the trip, except that it is probably only worth half the price! |

From the outset of the tour, our guide Lindsey was professional, enthusiastic and friendly and fully explained the tour.
Each chocolatier greeted us in a friendly manner and made us feel very welcome and insisted that chocolates not tasted were bagged and given to us.
Travelling to each chocolatier was made pleasurable by Lindsey who gave details of where and what we should expect at the next stop.
If you like GOOD chocolate this could be the tour for you.
Thanks Lindsey fom Karen and Alan |

Nothing special with this tour. The tour guide was friendly, but not knowledgable. She would not even give proper background on the owners of the chocolate shops or the history. The content was very weak.
You do not need to join this tour - just walk around the soho area, and watch out for chocolate shops around. Go in if you would like to taste a few, read a few broschures in the store to learn about the store and the owner. |

Went on this tour with my recently high school matriculated daughter as part of her graduation present. The shops visited were very enjoyable/different and the samples delectable. Ended up only visiting 3 chocolate shops (not 5) but also a mini cupcake stand and a cheesecake shop so we weren't disappointed. The enthusiastic guide (a young lady hoping to hit it big as a film actress) was friendly and knew quite a bit about the shops but was not as well versed in the actual details of the chocolate making process. I should know since I was an engineer in the chocolate, coffee and tea industries. But most tourists probably wouldn't mind or care. |

I took my boyfriend on the New Cuisine Tour this Saturday, at the recommendation of my friends who had taken the tour this winter. They spoke very highly of the activity, but I was disappointed with what we received for the price we paid. The description of the event on the website stated that we would visit four chocolate shops and a shop where we could sample chocolate cheesecake. Instead, we only visited three chocolate shops and our final destination was the "Baked by Melissa" window, where we couldn't even sit and enjoy the cupcakes (which were not at all in the same category as the chocolate cheesecake advertised on the website). I felt like the whole event was somewhat rushed (we finished in under an hour and a half), and the tour itself was not informative. The difference in what we would have paid to buy the chocolates on our own and what we actually paid was not worth one or two sentences about each chocolateer we were told. I am disappointed, because I know my friends who took the tour in February visited all five shops and were given cheesecake and I was really looking forward to the tour they described rather than the tour we received. I live in New York and was looking forward to taking future visitors on this event (or the other chocolate tours) but will not be doing so after my experience on Saturday. |

This was a nice stroll on a hot day in NY. It had cool stops with great tastes. Our guide was very informative and you knew how much she enjoyed her chocolate. The tour made you think about what you were tasting rather than just gobbling it down. It was well worth the money and time. Thanks for a great tour! |

Our tour was a birthday gift for the chocolate lover in the family. We had a lovely time--enjoyed the samples and hearing about chocolate (the information was light, which was OK for us, but others might want more). The price seemed high for the experience. |

Getting a tour of Soho while also enjoying the some unique chocolates was a nice spin on touring a local city. Our guide was knowlegble and energetic. The chocolate shops were all very unique from one another. |
