An authentic New York experience

| Marc agreed to take on our three member family group (husband, wife and 24 year old daughter/stepdaughter) from Australia, even though my husband suffers from MS and needed to use an electric scooter to join the tour. Marc soon learned our limitations and capabilities and his familiarity with New York allowed him to adapt his tour to suit. We trekked through Times Square, saw places in Central Park we probably wouldn't have found on our own in the time available, experienced the upper west side, caught a cab through Soho to the Brooklyn Bridge and took the subway to Grand Central Station, all the while being photographed with the best backgrounds New York has to offer. Marc admitted that he had been nervous about taking our group on tour and we are extremely grateful that he did. His local knowledge allowed him to push us to do things we might have otherwise avoided, such as packing the collapsible scooter into the trunk of a taxi and also catching the subway, which we were thrilled about because we had thought we wouldn't be able to ride it. To us, Marc seemed like a stereotypical New Yorker; a bit pushy, uninhibited, loud and gruff, although we did get him to smile at least once by the end of the tour. Be prepared to walk fast over fairly long distances and do practice your group posing before the trip. Marc does give some direction about how to pose but the nature of the tour doesn't allow much time for each shot. You, not the scenery (as good as it is) will be the focus of each picture. So if you care about such things, dress to impress, apply the makeup and practice the smile. The only thing that disappointed me about the tour was my own lack of preparedness to be photographed. We would recommend this tour to anyone travelling to New York. You will end up with a wonderful set of photographs, beautifully shot in great locations, without having to carry a camera and with your whole group in every shot (or as in our case, various groupings to suit the dynamics of the family). I should also mention that Marc does know his town and gives good commentary about what you are seeing as well as helping with any specific enquiries you may have. We needed to find the KidRobot store in lower Manhattan. Marc was familiar with it and gave us good directions for getting there. | Prior to booking our tour, I was a bit apprehensive about spending a day with a tour guide, whom we hadn't met. I could not have been more pleased with the decision that I made to take a chance and book the PhotoTrek tour. Marc put our family at ease right away. He is tremendously knowledgeable about the city and was able to answer every question we had. My husband and I agreed that this tour was worth every penny and more- because we actually received two opportunities for the price of one. We were able to see and learn about New York City, while obtaining pictures of all of our family in the meantime. When adding these quality photos to our album, I was pleased to have so many vacation pictures without a member of our family missing (to take the photo). Mr. Samuels provides a wonderful service to visitors of the city. I would recommend this tour to anyone. Thank you for helping our family to capture memories of NYC and for being so kind to us. | ||||||

| Marc lead us on a great tour of NYC in a way we could never have done on our own. He is knowledgeable, fun to talk with and we received a disc with some really nice photos to remember the trip by. Our family had a wonderful time and we highly recommend this activity. You will not be disappointed! | ||||||

| Marc is a very genuine and personable guy. The tour is informative and his insights/tips etc as a native New Yorker we found invaluable. Even very simple things like how to work the sub way ticketing system and navigating around from there. You can tailor the tour to your exact requirements or rely on Marc's descretion, either way your going to be well informed. We had the 3 hour tour and the ground you cover walking and on the sub way is amazing. We recommend doing this tour shortly after arrival as an ideal way to get a very personal orientation of this magnificent City. The pictures are amazing and there's plenty of them. It is also amusing to see the looks on peoples faces as you have the pictures taken, you feel like a VIP they think you are a VIP........... well hey for 3 hours we were!! | Our recent trip to NYC began with PhotoTrek Tours. It was a wonderful way to get a general overview of the island plus have these memories professionally captured on a CD to bring home with us. Our tour guide, Marc, was very personable and informative, making the adventure a very pleasant learning experience. I can't believe the amount of landmarks we were able to see in the time we spent with him! On our next trip, I will definetly book Marc again for different areas of the city....a great guide...a great tour...and great photos!!! Thanks for the memories! | This was a wonderful activity to do with our daughter. We got some great professional quality shots with beautiful NYC backgrounds. Mark was game for hiking in the snow to get the shots re quested of other Central Park landmarks that were not on the "scheduled" list. As a scrapbooker, the photos are great! Everyone loves the pictures and many have asked how many strangers we got to take our picture. We did the 2hr tour and ended up with over 200 pictures. | We loved the experience of going around town with Marc.....He was really great and took a load of great pictures. (there wasn't a bad picture in the bunch) My daughter and I would not have these great pictures if we had done them ourselves........for one we don't know the great spots with the views that Marc does....and two we wouldn't of been able to take pictures of us together........and you know getting a stranger to do it and be that good is unlikely!!!!!!! I am so glad we did it and when we go again (with the whole family) The only tip I will give is be sure to wear comfortable (walking) shoes. We wore hills and our feet didn't feel too good that evening. There is some walking and it isn't much if you are in comfortable shoes, but hills will make you feel like you walked 10 miles. I am so glad we did it and when we go again (with the whole family) I will definately give Marc a call!!!! Well worth it. | This tour provides a great introduction to the most frequently visited tourist spots on Manhattan. We took Marc's tour as a family of two adults and a three year old, I highly recommend Marc's tour as an introduction to the island and as a great way of getting some great family shots. Marc provided interesting conversation and commentary on the locations we visited and was patient with our son, who we were getting in and out of a stroller for the photos. | found this tour after hours of searching on internet and yes it was worth it ,marc met us at the hotel as requested ,talked to us for a few minutes about what we were going to do and where we were going ,then it was off to times square to start the tour ,marc is takeing pic,s right from the start and just keeps on going, the places he took us to and the pictures he took were all fantastic we had over 200 photos and all of them had great backdrop in them .how to ride the subway,where to get cheap theatre tickets we certainly knew how to get about new york after the tour"Marc keep up the good work cos when we come bac we'll certainly be calling you for another tour" | ||||||

Anyone that can engage with my kids at 8.00am on a sunday morning deserves a medal - but from the moment that you met us at our hotel they were transformed. A unique quick start guide to New York with photos

| This was our first trip to New York, we had booked a 7 day stay and wanted to make the best use of our time there. As a mother and son family we had almost no photos of the two of us together, so when I came across Marc's photo tour of New York on the internet it seemed the ideal solution for us. The other things that appealed to us were, Marc being a Native New Yorker, the tour being walking and subway, (rather than a bus) and a degree of personalization. My 12 year old son Damie is an avid Spiderman fan and wanted to see some of the famous landmarks from the films. Marc arrived early and let us know he was in the lobby of our hotel (another plus point, being collected). We met a well-turned out and extremely personable Marc, who immediately went through the Spiderman locations he could build into the tour - we had opted for the 4 hour one. He also checked the New York landmarks we were most interested in e.g. Central Park as opposed to the Financial District, in our case. This enabled him to decide how much time and focus to place on each location. Neither my son or I are naturals when it comes to being photographed, but Marc's expertise and quickness with his camera meant that we never had to pose or hold a smile for more than a few seconds. As a result we now have a disc of 200 professional photographs which Marc delivered to our hotel the following day. I know my son wouldn't have been willing to be photographed like this if I was holding the camera. Marc was also very sensitive to my son's sensory difficulties, when Damie found Times Square a bit too much for him, Marc moved quickly on, but still managed to get some shots here. He was very open and easy to talk to and we both enjoyed our time with him. At the end of the tour my son and I really felt confident about exploring New York over the rest of the week on our own, including using the subways, which Marc gave us a lesson in. We also felt we had received a comprehensive view of the city, visiting places we may not have got round to ourselves. With the portfolio of photos to take home from Marc's tour, we were able to spend the rest of our week in New York sans camera doing our own thing, including revisiting some of the places Marc had shown us. This tour is unique and real value for money - I would recommend it to anyone visiting New York. | ||||||

| Mark was absolutely wonderful. I used the Metro in DC for 10 years but was quite hesitant to go on the NY subway. Marks ability to show us what token to get, which train to get on, and how the routing worked was really informative and reassuring. I decided that morning in a change of itinerary - he was very flexible and accommodating. The pictures on the CD are absolutely fabulous and elicited many ou's and awe’s from family and friends. They gave my son and me many happy memories and a plan to return! I wish we could have had another day for another 3 hour tour! | ||||||
