Best tour ever

Taking a Photo Trek tour is the biggest favour you can do for yourself if visiting New York City. Mark knows the city backwards, is informative, fun to spend time with and takes great shots that you could never get otherwise. The two big advantages: a great orientation to the city - find out about the history and culture, know where to go and where not to go, how to get around on the subway (not as straightforward as it seems but no problem once a local has given you the advice), ask as many questions as you like about NYC and, the second big plus - when it's all over you get a CD full of fantastic photos of you as a couple. Photo Trek tours is a great concept and well worth every cent. Thanks Mark - we love NYC!

Silver Apple Trip

My husband, Duncan and I celebrated our Silver Wedding Anniversary with a trip to New York. I booked the Personal Photo Tour for two reasons; firstly so that we would have photos of both of us together in key memorable places in New York and secondly to have a New Yorker guide us around top sites. We were not disappointed. A whistle-stop tour it certainly was but Mark packed an amazing 121 photos into 2 hours. The CD was delivered to our Hotel as promised and we have a permanent reminder of our trip. Mark was a great guide, very patient, informative and fun to be with . We were so pleased to discover New York with him, Soho and The Village particularly.

Great way to get a taste of New York.

Having read a review in our local Brisbane paper about the tour, we decided to give it a try. Marc was very welcoming and gave us a great tour around. We would thoroughly recommend this tour as it allowed us to be photogrraphed together is some great locations as well as give us an orientation tour. Marc showed us how to use the subway so that gave us the confidence to use it later. Marc is very proud of his city and transferred that enthusiaism to us. We are so glad we decided to do phototrek and have been recommending this tour to our friends. Kind regards, Mary & Mike. Australia.

Perfect Way to See Manhattan!

Our "custom" tour was fabulous - couldn't have asked for more or better! Marc is a great walking partner, and we thoroughly enjoyed our 3 hours. Watching those double-decker tour buses roll by reminded us how lucky we were to be seeing Manhattan through the eyes of a New Yorker and at ground level!

My wife wanted to go to New York for her 50th Birthday and I wanted a photographic catalogue for both of us.Marc was reccommended to us and he didn't let us down. The photos are brilliant and his tour second to none. His local take on New York was invaluable and recommendations on where to eat etc .. aren't found in any guide books.we would never have been able to capture the flavour of N Y,without the Trek Tour .( Marek and Julie Krzeminski ,Nottingham,England).

New York in a Nut Shell

Not being naturally predisposed to reading city guides and making plans for touring, we selected phototrek to give us a kick-start overview of New York and at the same time have someone else take the photos for a change. Marc's Phototrek acheived exactly that! Marc knew his city and knew it well. He gave us the typical whirlwind tour that covered all the main features and most importantly gave us confidence that we could continue to explore on our own. I think the winning feature of the tour concept was that it was personal. Sure it was clear Marc had done this numerous times before, but for that time, it was only Marc and us. If there was a negative, it was that every photo was dominated by ourselves. A few with us being a little less dominating might have been good. But that is us! At the end of the day the trek was everything it was advertised to be. Rapid overview and numerous photos of us!

The tour gives you a GREAT feeling of NYC and really helps to understand the many sites/locations of the city. I'm recommending Marc Samuels to anybody that we know who visits here to personally give the tour. He shared his knowledge of the city with us and is a great listener too. He had lot of positive energy like we're his good friends from the past. We started in Central Park, visited the local neighborhoods, walked by Columbus Circle, Times Square, Bryant Park, Grand Central Station (whispering corners I liked), subway rides/educated us on this (very very helpful), Brooklyn Bridge, Greenwich Village, Soho, Litte Italy and on and on. The walk up the Brooklyn bridge was exciting. When we were in the middle of the bridge, the views were so beautiful. As with Central Park and all of the other areas, we were able to appreciate the sites we've only known from television. We know now that every time we go anywhere we will be commenting on this tour. The day after our tour with Marc, we were with my brother & sister in-law and wanted to go see the cast of RENT in Bryant park. The great part was that we were able to lead the way. The tour was so complete in that we remembered how to get around to many of the places we visited just by following Marc's comments and directions. In short, we had a FABULOUS, WONDERFUL, EVENTFUL time all made so much better because of our tour with Marc. Thank you very much. This is our first and definitely not our last visit to this great city. Jim and Mary

Great opportunity to learn about the city. I have not recieved our photo's yet, but we had a great time with Mark. He was very professional and took tons of photos. We did this tour last, I would reccomend doing it first because Mark has great insight on NYC. Good info on subway usage and areas to visit. This tour comes highly recommended!

An authentic New York experience
Fri, Jul 4, 08   3:30 PM Kimjanice Female 50-59 International Tourist(s) Family With Children
Marc agreed to take on our three member family group (husband, wife and 24 year old daughter/stepdaughter) from Australia, even though my husband suffers from MS and needed to use an electric scooter to join the tour. Marc soon learned our limitations and capabilities and his familiarity with New York allowed him to adapt his tour to suit. We trekked through Times Square, saw places in Central Park we probably wouldn't have found on our own in the time available, experienced the upper west side, caught a cab through Soho to the Brooklyn Bridge and took the subway to Grand Central Station, all the while being photographed with the best backgrounds New York has to offer. Marc admitted that he had been nervous about taking our group on tour and we are extremely grateful that he did. His local knowledge allowed him to push us to do things we might have otherwise avoided, such as packing the collapsible scooter into the trunk of a taxi and also catching the subway, which we were thrilled about because we had thought we wouldn't be able to ride it. To us, Marc seemed like a stereotypical New Yorker; a bit pushy, uninhibited, loud and gruff, although we did get him to smile at least once by the end of the tour. Be prepared to walk fast over fairly long distances and do practice your group posing before the trip. Marc does give some direction about how to pose but the nature of the tour doesn't allow much time for each shot. You, not the scenery (as good as it is) will be the focus of each picture. So if you care about such things, dress to impress, apply the makeup and practice the smile. The only thing that disappointed me about the tour was my own lack of preparedness to be photographed. We would recommend this tour to anyone travelling to New York. You will end up with a wonderful set of photographs, beautifully shot in great locations, without having to carry a camera and with your whole group in every shot (or as in our case, various groupings to suit the dynamics of the family). I should also mention that Marc does know his town and gives good commentary about what you are seeing as well as helping with any specific enquiries you may have. We needed to find the KidRobot store in lower Manhattan. Marc was familiar with it and gave us good directions for getting there. Well done Marc and thanks for a wonderful tour on a hot day in Manhattan!

We loved Mark - this was a great tour. The pictures are wonderful. Mark really knows and loves New York. He worked with our group on his day off - thank you. I would recommend Mark to any group. We had a wonderful time. The only change I would do - is to book the longer tour - the 2 hours just wizzed by. BTW - we all liked the subway ride. Thanks

We had a great time with Marc -- he accommodated us by meeting us outside my husband's workplace, and tailored the tour to our specifications. He was fun to be with, we covered a lot of ground, learned some interesting stuff, and enjoyed feeling like celebs on a photo shoot. The photos were delivered promptly and turned out great! Two thumbs up!

OMG! What fun we had! My husband and I were planning a trip to NYC, (Nov 2007) so I did some info searching on the Internet. One of the pages I landed on had an ad for Photo Trek Tours. I clicked on it. What a fabulous idea! My husband and I take lots of pictures, but come home with just a few of the two of us together. I read all of the reviews - if you are reading them - listen to all of them that tell you to be READY to walk! haha OMG - Marc had us going at a good clip! We saw more than I thought possible in two hours. Bonus - he taught us how to use the Subway (your new best friend), so the rest of our visit in NYC was so simple for getting around! Marc is a great guy - full of information and a spectacular personality. He kept us entertained. We had a great time in two hours, saw a lot, learned a lot and had a CD with a TON of great pictures delivered to our hotel room the next day! I have already used one of them for our Christmas card! Everybody loved them! If you are reading the reviews - I know you are interested. Trust me - it's worth it! I would love to go back and do it again with a bigger group of friends! Marc even recommended a place for our first NY pizza experience! It was great too! Do it!!!! PS - do the PhotoTour your first day if you can - it really helps you get a feel for the city and subway for the rest of your stay!

A great start to our holiday and the tour fully lived up to our expectations. Mark gave us a real taste of the city and took some great family pictures. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting New York for the first time but make sure you book at the start of your trip.
