Fantastically interesting and cool tour of the area we were staying in that highlighted spots we never could have known about - we wanted to know more about GG Allin and found out he had spent the last months of his life staying in the hotel we were staying in! Great tour guide who really knows his stuff & brings it all to life. It was a real highlight of our trip and we'll be buying the book for sure!

Booked on the basis of London Daily Telegraph article and reviews on here. Turned out we were the only group that day, but "Bobbie Pinn" treated us to the full tour regardless. As a guide he is full of knowledge and enthusiasm for his subject and can hold forth with humour and authority on everything from Velvet Underground to his favourites - The Ramones. If he has a fault, it is that he assumes everyone is an enthusiast for every band he mentions. So we told him (cos he asked) that US punk had pretty much passed us by - though we were interested in what he could tell us - and he then continued to talk as if we had every NY Dolls and Ramones album issued. It's a very small criticism and only very slightly lessened our enjoyment of his rock'n'roll history lesson. A word of warning - NY can be hot and humid and this is a 2 hour walking tour at quite a brisk pace, so anyone who isn't somewhat fit may struggle. But go if you can, this is definitely one of the best things you can do with an afternoon in New York.

i would highly recommend the rock n puck tour to anyone that is even slightly interested in the wonderful scene that unfolded in the late 60's, 70's and so forth. our tour guide johnny pinn was a walking plethora of information, some of which he himself witnessed. he took us to all of the key elements in the punk/rock music genre. definelty worth the money and the time. thanks to everyone involved.

Book a tour with Pinn!! He rules!! Pinn knows all the stories of the old days. GG Alin, Ramones, Velvet Underground just to name a few. It's a 2 hour tour around the Rock & Roll streets of New York. It starts at the Contintal and ends at the old CBGB's. Pinns got pictures of the old day's, fills you in with details on record sleeves etc. etc. etc!!! Don't forget to take a picture of the Joe Strummer mural!!!

A fantastic tour with an extremely knowledgable and friendly guide, Bobby Pinn. Would recommend doing this tour early on in your trip as we did it a bit later and found out a lot of information about places we had been walking past for days! Very interesting and informative with lots of facts and picture opoorunities covering all the greats of Rock'n'Roll and even some jazz!

A very enjoyable and informative tour. Bobby Pinn is a fantastic guide, an enthusiast who knows his subject and delivers the goods with humour and insight. If you're a punk / glam rock fan this tour is for you, but anyone interested in the NY music scene over the last 40 years will get a lot out of this tour. Sure, you could Google all this stuff - but you won't be standing on the spot, with Bobby telling you his stories about the people who lived and played around the area. Unbeatable! I would fully recommend the East Village Rock n Punk Tour if your interested in seeing tthe venues and hearing all about the music and people who lived in the East village, it was superb ! Our guide Bobby Pinn was very friendly and so knowledgable we were taken to CBGB's and The Fillmore East, Joey Ramone's NYC pad, St. Marks Hotel, Iggy Pop's former residence, Andy Warhol's Electric Circus, Madonna's first NYC apartment and many more... He took time to explain the history and show us the places these artistes hanged out in including the famouse CBGB club he has loads of album covers and posters showing the stuff from the venues. He gave us a leaflet at the end with lots of information and good places to eat and drink in the area. I would say dont miss this !!!!

This tour was very well done. The tour guide, Bobby Pin, was likeable and interesting, easy to understand. He really knew his stuff. He had lots of visual aids, photos and album covers, which added a lot to the tour. Any big Rock fan of the 70s punk scene would love this, great way to spend 2 hours.

Interesting and fascinating way to spend a couple of hours round the many points of musical interest around the East Village and the Lower East Side in the company of an knowledgable and enthusiastic guide. I even learnt something - Madonna used to be a drummer! Amazed that CBGBs is now a (very, very!) expensive clothes store. Highly recommended and very enjoyable..

Interesting & good fun

Excellent event!! Interesting, funny & informative guide made the whole event great fun! (He even suggested rearranging due to forecast bad weather a couple of days ahead ... which we did ... and it proved to be a good move!) A good mix of walking (not too far, which seemed to suit everyone) & stops to see interesting sites & listen to annecdotes. Well-sized group (not too big) made it easy to keep close to the guide whilst walking, which made 'chatting' between the stops possible, adding to the event. A useful leaflet was provided afterwards with recommendations for eating/drinking/music venues + a couple of discount vouchers thrown in. Focused mainly on Rock & Punk, but with a couple of sites to do with Blues & Jazz ... something for (almost) everyone. Thoroughly recommended!
