Worth every cent, a highlight of our holiday!

My sister and I were on our first trip to New York and as a musician, I was really keen to learn as much anecdotal info about my favourite arists and where they used to hang out as I possibly could. This tour was ideal - Bobby knew so much about all the places he took us to, the visual aids (photographs and record sleeves) that he carried around with us really added to the experience and put everything he told us about into context. It was like a really awesome music documentary, only we could actually walk and touch and see the places for ourselves, rather than just watching on a screen - I thought it was fantastic! We felt like we were really soaking up the history and energy of the place - Bobby picked his locations well. It didn't feel rushed and it felt like we got around a good number of interesting places. It wasn't just about where we went so much as the stories he told us about each place and each character who had lived or partied there. Thanks for making this day one of the highlights of our week-long stay in New York! Next time I come to the city, I would be tempted to take one of Bobby's other tours of New York, as this one was worth every cent.

Interesting tour that included rock, punk and even a little jazz information in the East Village.

Fun tour for both beginners and music lovers

I am a great fan of groups such as The Ramones, The New York Dolls, Iggy Pop and Velvet Underground, but I am more into the music than every detail about their lives. So for me it was really interesting to stroll around the East Village with someone who could connect my favourite groups to these streets and buildings. I brought my sister who knows nothing about this music, and she enjoyed it equally, because Bobby Pinn is a very good story teller and an enthusiastic guide. He could probably talk about anything and make it seem interesting. I really recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in New York, music, or both. Louise Ercolino, Sweden

Yea I really liked this walking tour, thanks to Bobby, the great story teller. Have understood he's writing a book, will buy it for sure...maybe the equally lovable Jimmy - I guess it's his name(?) - from the nearby Trash & Vaudeville shop is included, cannot wait ;) Anyway I warmly recommend this compact tour to everyone who's interested in classic rock and awesome stories. Fantastically interesting and cool tour of the area we were staying in that highlighted spots we never could have known about - we wanted to know more about GG Allin and found out he had spent the last months of his life staying in the hotel we were staying in! Great tour guide who really knows his stuff & brings it all to life. It was a real highlight of our trip and we'll be buying the book for sure!

I can't overstate how good this tour & its guide, Bobby Pinn, are. Two hours of impassioned and entertaining NY Glam, Punk and Rock mischief in the East Village and the notorious Alphabet City. Sign up now!

A great little tour that ties together many influential bands through the East Village streets. A remarkable amount of history in such a small area. Bobby is relaxed and informative guide and clearly loves the music he is talking about. Highly recommended for anyone interested in The Stooges, The Velvet Underground and The Ramones.

I took my brother on the tour as a gift for Christmas. It was a great gift and I learned a great deal about the history of music in the East Village. My only complaint was the weather was cold, certainly not the fault of the tour guide who did a great job.

Very cool way to see important rock landmarks that have been lost in time. There is no way we wlould have been able to find these places without taking the tour. Very well informed and enthusiastic guide which helped make the tour flow. I certainly recommend the tour to any rock/punk fan.

Some great stories from a guide who makes the area come to life and gives you a better sense of its past. Ours was a really diverse group of people, but all seemed to have a great time.. My partner was only along with me out of duty - he has no interest in music !! Even he was captivated by the stories and ended up enjoying the tour, despite his reservations! I loved every minute of it.

Bobby, our tour guide was very knowledgable about the subject and answered all my questions. I had a blast learning about where rockers lived and worked in NY.

We had a great time on Bobby Pinn's East Village Rock Junket tour - which included the Joe Strummer "The Future is Unwritten" mural, Charlie Parker's home, Joey Ramone's former apartment, Madonna's former apartment, and the former sites of CBGBs and the Filmore. As Canadians from the province of Manitoba, it was a special delight to see Handsome Dick Manitoba's bar in the East Village (called "Manitoba's"). Bobby knows his music and loves to talk; he'll remind you of the punk older brother you had who always had more records and knew more about them than you. His knowledge and taste are impeccable, and he even made me believe that I should give Iggy's Avenue B album another listen. Wow! At the end of the tour, Bobby gives you a brochure with "things to do" recommendations, including having an egg cream from the Gem (on Second Avenue at St. Mark's Place) and riding the Cyclone at Coney Island, which turned out to be two other big highlights of our trip. We went on the tour on a very hot day. If you do, bring some water and even a snack, so you can stand for two hours without falling over. Looking forward to taking another one of Bobby's tours on the next trip. - Kenton and Caroline, Winnipeg, Canada

AND WE THOUGHT WE KNEW ALL ABOUT PUNK ROCK!
Sat, Jul 5, 08   11:00 AM TERESALONG Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Other
I am 45 years old my daughter is 18. We are both fans of punk rock because I lived in the era and my daughter just thinks it's really cool. She went into the tour knowing a lot more than me about the bands, venues, etc. However, we both learned so much! It was so interesting and fun. It was certainly not touristy and not sugar coated. If you're a true punk rock fan, this is the tour for you. Trust me, you may think you know it all....but you will learn a lot. Bobby Pinn was the best tour guide ever. And....he'll take you to a pub after if you'd like to keep talking. I would not, however reccomend this tour if you are looking for the little old lady historical tour. It gets a little graphic, but it's real and we LOVED it!
