Great, Fun Tour
Fri, Jan 2  1:00 PM treece Male 30-39 Local Group of Friends
Had a friend in town and decided to do somehting different. Found this on the Village Voice website & it sounded like fun. Glad we did it. Although we probably should have done it on a warmer day, but everything was great all the same. I highly recommend it. Even for you locals. You have no idea how many times you walk by someplace & are unaware of its history.

Excellent-Brings me back to those early rock days

When I booked this tour I had no idea what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. The guide was excellent. It was great to see where a lot of it happened. Now I really understand the phrase "drugs, sex, rock & roll". My highlights where Andy Warhol's influences, Bill Graham and the Fillmore East. It dosen't matter what type of rock music you listen to it's a great tour.

We loved this tour. Bobby's knowledge, humour and stack of anecdotes really brought it to life. Highly recommended to music lovers.

Bobby Pinn Rocks!!

We had a great time, the tour was very well done. Bobby is knowledgeable and engaging. As a testament to how well he is known in the area multiple store owners in the village were waiving and saying hi to him as we were on the tour. I was a novice to all of the history that is in the East Village before the tour started but now feel like I know the area well and it's history related to music. I would recommend the tour to everyone that has even the slightest interest in music and history. Thank you Bobby!!

Great tour - we are from Sydney, Australia & wanted to do something a bit different in NY. Bobby knows heaps about the NY rock scene, has a good sense of humour plus you can go with him for a beer at the end of the tour! What more could you want! An offbeat tour that is well recommended.

EAST OF EDEN
Sat, Aug 23, 08   11:00 AM thurley Male 40-49 International Tourist(s) Family With Children
The rock/glam tour of NYC's East Village proved to be a glorious mix of intriguing sites and informative background stories straight from the anals of rock history. A perfect 'add-on' to a visit to the Big Apple that will provide a slice of something a little unique and memorable that no 'tired' guide book ever could. The guide was a 'Diamond Gezzer' too!!!

One of the highlights of a great NYC trip

This Rock 'N' Roll walking tour was fabulous. We booked to do this at the beginning of our 10 day stay and this proved so good because on this walking tour you really get to see some places of rock culture history that brings NYC streets and the East Village to life as you imagine the groudbreaking 60's culture, the birth of punk in the US and so many other great sights & facts. Bobby Pin - our guide - was so friendly, knowledgable and interesting that the whole 2 hours passed by and you felt you could stick around for a few days just living the rock 'n' roll history through his narrative. We even grabbed a beer with him at a local bar after ! Great value and so worthwhile to see the real NYC. If you love music and some of the greatest bands ever, then DO THIS TOUR ASAP. Just hope he goes international and does a similar tour in London. I lived there and I'd still go on it !!!

AND WE THOUGHT WE KNEW ALL ABOUT PUNK ROCK!
Sat, Jul 5, 08   11:00 AM TERESALONG Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Other
I am 45 years old my daughter is 18. We are both fans of punk rock because I lived in the era and my daughter just thinks it's really cool. She went into the tour knowing a lot more than me about the bands, venues, etc. However, we both learned so much! It was so interesting and fun. It was certainly not touristy and not sugar coated. If you're a true punk rock fan, this is the tour for you. Trust me, you may think you know it all....but you will learn a lot. Bobby Pinn was the best tour guide ever. And....he'll take you to a pub after if you'd like to keep talking. I would not, however reccomend this tour if you are looking for the little old lady historical tour. It gets a little graphic, but it's real and we LOVED it!

rock history for all ages

The Rock Tour was a lot of fun. Bobby Pinn loves rock and you can tell by his youthful enthusiasm and bleach blonde hair. As a twenty something I enjoyed the tour as much as my 50 year old dad would have. He covers classic rock to punk and shows you landmarks you would've just walked by without knowing it was there. This tour truely rocks and I highly recommend it!

One of the highlights of our trip
Thu, Dec 11, 08   1:00 PM swpotter Male 40-49 International Tourist(s) Family With Children
Having been a fan of the various NYC punk bands from this area it was fantastic to get a nostalgic trip round the places I had only read about up to this point. I brought along my 13 year old daughter and apart from that the fact she had to walk was engrossed by Bobby's stories. Bobby was a fantastic tour guide, providing his own insight and experiences aided by a few props he brought along in his magic punk bag. I was supposed to do this tour on the Thu, but Bobby got in touch and offered me an alternative as the weather was supposed to be bad on that day (it did pour down on the Thu), but the Fri the weather was brilliant and it shows the effort Bobby puts in to make sure his tour is a success. We even back-tracked after the tour and took advantage of the discounts Bobby mentioned at one of the stores we passed during the tour and to try an eggcream. I only have the highest praise for this tour and next time I am in NYC I hope to do the new tour Bobby mentioned, the Rock N Roll Pub Crawl.

The tour was led by someone with excellent knowledge. He provided some good historical contexting which went beyond the subject of the tour, but placed the area and subject in relationship to the rest of New York. This created broader appeal. He also had excellent visual aids to provide the history.

This tour was the highlight of our trip to new york city. My daughter is 13yo and a rock, punk , glam fanatic and this tour was unbelievable for her ( and Me too ). I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in that period of music and for all teen agers. we were really fortunate as we were the only people on the tour ( we went on a weekday rather than a weekend_I recommend this) so essentially had a private tour. wear comfortable shoes

I would fully recommend the East Village Rock n Punk Tour if your interested in seeing tthe venues and hearing all about the music and people who lived in the East village, it was superb ! Our guide Bobby Pinn was very friendly and so knowledgable we were taken to CBGB's and The Fillmore East, Joey Ramone's NYC pad, St. Marks Hotel, Iggy Pop's former residence, Andy Warhol's Electric Circus, Madonna's first NYC apartment and many more... He took time to explain the history and show us the places these artistes hanged out in including the famouse CBGB club he has loads of album covers and posters showing the stuff from the venues. He gave us a leaflet at the end with lots of information and good places to eat and drink in the area. I would say dont miss this !!!!
