A must for music lovers of kinds!

If you love music history, then New York City is a must see and The East Village Punk Rock Junket Tour is MUST do. No matter how much you read, watch, listen and hear there is nothing like being guided around in person in a historic location to put it all in perspective. Standing in front of a building where classic rock events of the past have taken place and listening to stories being told by host Bobby Pinn is the closest thing I've had to a time machine! As I've already said a Must do! If I happen to grace the mecca of New York City again, I'll happily take The East Village Punk Rock Junket Tour once more!! Cheers Bobby! Punk Rock and Egg Cream

It was Bobby Pin (good name by the way) who took my son and I on the tour, unfortunately we could only do the first hour due to unforseen problems on our part but I would recommend this tour to any one interested in the history of punk. The knowledge and the obvious love of music that Bobby has shone through and should we ever be lucky to visit New York in the future I would definitely go on the tour again. My son who is eighteen could`nt stop talking about the experience and is now downloading The Ramones, Television, The New York dolls. Heck we even went back to the Gem Spa for an egg cream?

This was a very enjoyable way to spend some time - we walked through East Village and learned some cool info about rock 'n roll bands. Lot of history and fun as well. The tour guide, Bobby, had a good sense of humor and knew what he was talking about. I loved the visual ads offered with the record album covers. Highly recommend if you have a love of rock music.

East Village's Musical History.

This is a greatly entertaining and interesting tour. The east village is so rich in rock history, but gentrification and development makes it unapparent to the naked eye. Our tour guide showed us where all the magic happened - the bank that was the Fillmore East, the apartment building which used to house Andy Warhol's Exploding Plastic Inevitable parties, the apartment where Joey Ramone spent the last years of his life, the building on the cover of Led Zeppelin's Physical Graffiti album, and much much more. There's something for everyone and the stories associated with those building are wild and fantastic. I learned new things about my favorite bands like Blondie, the Ramones, and the New York Dolls. It was a great experience.

Bobby Pinn is passionate about the NYC music scene

This tour is for those who are serious about the punk rock music scene in NY/East Village during the 70-80's. The Ramones are the holy trinity and everything starts from there...if your punk "lite" this is not the tour for you. I enjoyed the tour and learned how important the East Village was in the 70's. But I felt if I expressed loving the Go-Go's in the late 70"s "Johnny your so Queer" era, before thier pop hits, I would have been told to leave the tour. Bobby is serious and extremely knowledgeable about his music and I felt a little out of my league. I would like a tour of Billy Holiday-Diana Washington-Etta James-Judy Garland-and those great ladies and their contribution to NY music scene in the 40-50-60's. I would recommend the tour to friends coming to NYC, because there is nothing like it anywhere else and you have your own docent to the East Village. Wish we had a Bobby Pinn in LA who could take me through my own backyard and educate Los Angelenos about the music scene in the 60-70's. Thank you, Connie Kuberski

Our tour guide knew his stuff. We got to hear some great stories that related to the sights we were seeing. He had brought pictures and albums along so we could see the artists as he talked about them. We had fun and saw some really rad places!

Going on this tour made me wish I'd lived in NYC in the 1970's! I have already recommended the tour to loads of friends who are also travelling to New York. I saw so many places that were connected to musicians I have always loved and the guide was able to offer so much insight into what happened at each of these places, and in most cases, show photos of how the places looked back in the day. The tour guide was also able to answer questions about sites that were not specifically on the tour and provide directions for people to find places themselves once the tour had finished. All in all, I can't praise this tour highly enough, I really enjoyed it.

see the sights before they disappear

It was wonderful to see these places that were once the pinnacles of the NYC music scene. The tour guide offered humorous and insightful stories about the musicians that played at these clubs. Due to the gentrification of the area the majority of the sites on the tour are now closed turned into noodle shops but it was awesome to hear about what some seemingly unimportant buildings were...once upon a time, long ago and far away.

Bobby Pinn is a really cool guide for this tour of the East Village and the Rock n' Roll sights. If you are any kind of music fan, I feel this is well worth the $20-even if you don't know the music-it's cool to do something different than the typical NYC tours. The weather was beautiful and the sights and culture are so diverse, it really gives you a nice feel of the neighborhood and what it would have been like to be around the East Village in the late '60's and '70's through today. I highly recommend this tour and you will be cooler just for going! Tour ends at CBGB's (which is said to be closing in August-so sad!)

A Fantastic Tour

We both really enjoyed the tour and it was one of the highlights of our visit to New York. Bobby was very knowlegable and the tour was very interesting. This tour is a must if you are interested in The Ramones, Andy Warhol, Iggy Pop, The Clash etc. It was great to see where these people lived, hung out and filmed music videos. The tour ends at CBGBs and you get a chance to go inside, have a drink in the gallery and a look round CBGBs which is the perfect end to a great tour. Bobby really knows his stuff and gives you information you don't get from books. It was a fantastic day out and I would definitely take the tour again if back in New York.

My 18 year old daughter and I did all the "touristy" things in New York but this tour was definitely the highlight of our visit. Really interesting and definitely something for everyone into music, young and old. The leaflet given to us after the tour was extremely helpful as well and we visited a couple of the recommended eating places and bought some CDs (with the discount voucher). We had a great time !
