Very Cool Tour!

First, I can't say enough abour Rock Junket tour guide Bobby Pinn. He was a wealth of knowledge, and was able to share this in a fun and interesting way. My wife and I brought our 20 year old daughter, and there was something for everybody. While some of these sites may have been converted to something different; eg. the Filmore East is now a bank building), Bobby had pictures of it in its heyday, and it seemed to transport us miraculously to that time. And ALWAYS an interesting story about something that had taken place there, or somebody who had performed there...usually in a rather eccentric manner. We had a great day, and look forward to the time when we can return to take some of Rock Junket's new tours! You the Man, Bobby!

AWESOME- THE TOUR GUIDE ROCKS!!

WE LOVED THIS TOUR!! The tour guide was very very informative and knowledgeable. He took his time answering questions and even took pics of us at some of the locations. My husband and I are both musicians, so we appreciated all the work and research put in to make this tour as informative as it was. I especially enjoyed the props out guide brought along (album covers, photos, articles). GREAT!! We would absolutely recommend this tour and when we next visit NYC we will definitely take another one of the tours offereed by the same guide (Beatles walk, etc.).

A step back into Rock and Roll history....

This was great. I have spent a lot of time in New York, but always did my own thing and never appreciated the stories behind some of the most infamous rock legends. Probably because I didn't know the stories. Going to places like where The Stones "Waiting on a Friend" video was shot took you back and you could actually imagine what it was like to be there. Standing in front of where Warhol held his Electric Circus was so amazing to just sit there and picture these people coming and going and what was happening inside. I always wished I was alive and old enough during that time to be there. Go on this tour, close your eyes and use your imagination. I also suggest if you go on Saturday hit B Bar and Grill on 4th and Bowery. It had an amazing brunch. One of the best Bloody Mary's and Steak Breakfast Burritos I have ever had. Thanks Bobby Pinn! My first tour ever

I brought my 13 year old son with me and we both had a blast. Bobby Pinn was knowledgable and really seemed like a fan of the music, which made it even better, it wasn't just some rehashing of punk history by someone who could care less. Bobby also took some great photos of my son and I which was a plus and one picture of us in front of the great Joe Strummer mural, Bobby said "fridge magnet" and indeed it is! Ha! Thanks!

Greatest Rock & Roll Tour

This tour is awesome. A must for anyone interested in The New York Rock scene. Bobby Pinn was most informative & provided many interesting stories. I was truly dissapointed when it ended!! And what a fabulous way to end by finishing up at CBGB's (RIP). Very insightful and well worth the $25. I would recommend this tour in an instant. Nathaniel, Sydney Australia.

Bobby Pinn knows his stuff. By being part of the music industry, he obviously gained knowledge and experience in the field. He resides in NY - the rock and roll center of the country. The tour was everything I thought it would be and more. If you are ever in NY, make sure you check this out. Keep on rockin in the free world!

Stay Cool

Bobby's a first rate storyteller and even brought visual aids (albums, vintage photos) to flesh out some of the locales, which is a good thing because, frankly, there's not a whole lot to really look at on this tour. There are a couple exceptions - Led Zep fans are in for a treat - but for the most part Bobby's recreating scenes that arent there any more. Fillmore East is now a bank and CBGBs and their iconoclastic awning are both long gone. It's a tough job, and he does it admirably. Aside from a brief speech about gentrification in the Bowery, this was a 99% music tour, as advertised, but I probably wouldve enjoyed it more if Bobby wove in addtl non musical 'hood history with his fond tales of who vomited on whom back in the day. For example, we walked right by Cooper Union, which is a pretty remarkable place historically and socially, with nary a comment. This tour lured me to a neighborhood I'd likely not explore on my own anytime soon, so that was worthwhile and interesting. It was real hot, and that took some steam out of my middle aged bod, but on a cool, breezy day, this would make for a reasonably fun, offbeat way to kill a couple hours.

Hey Ho - You Should Go

I found the web page for Bobby Pinn's rock walks while looking for stuff to do on a short break in NY. His walk listed sites associated with bands I've been listening to for years so I signed up for one immediately. I then got an email form him asking if I'd like to change the date because the weather wasn't looking good for the day I'd chosen, which was easily taken care of. The walk itself takes a couple of hours and starts out where Joey Ramone lived, and fittingly ends up at the site of CBGBs. In between we visited nuermous places of musical interest in Greenwich Village and the Lower East Side, from GG Allin's hotel, to Madonna's first appartment, the site of Zeppelin's Physical Graffiti album sleeve and a host of others. If you like the music that came out of NY in the late 70s you can't go wrong with this walk. If you're a music fan in general it's well worth doing. Bobby is an engaging and friendly host - I had a great time.

East Village's Musical History.

This is a greatly entertaining and interesting tour. The east village is so rich in rock history, but gentrification and development makes it unapparent to the naked eye. Our tour guide showed us where all the magic happened - the bank that was the Fillmore East, the apartment building which used to house Andy Warhol's Exploding Plastic Inevitable parties, the apartment where Joey Ramone spent the last years of his life, the building on the cover of Led Zeppelin's Physical Graffiti album, and much much more. There's something for everyone and the stories associated with those building are wild and fantastic. I learned new things about my favorite bands like Blondie, the Ramones, and the New York Dolls. It was a great experience.

Fun time for rock and roll fans

My teenage son and I enjoyed the Rock Junket tour through the East Village. We were the only ones on the tour so we were able to ask lots of questions. Our guide was knowledgeable, organized and well prepared with photos, album covers and trivia questions and kept the tour moving along. I would recommend this tour to anyone who has an interest in NYC's rock history . I would consider going on the Bob Dylan tour the next time I'm in the city. The guide gave us a brochure of some favorite spots to visit after the tour and we had a lot of fun at Generation Records.

Interesting stories of the punk era

The tour guide was fun and informative. He had lots of stories and entertained stories from individuals who had first hand knowledge we bumped into on the way. I'd recommend adding current clubs to the tour such as those on the brochure handed to us at the end.

Bobby Pinn is a really cool guide for this tour of the East Village and the Rock n' Roll sights. If you are any kind of music fan, I feel this is well worth the $20-even if you don't know the music-it's cool to do something different than the typical NYC tours. The weather was beautiful and the sights and culture are so diverse, it really gives you a nice feel of the neighborhood and what it would have been like to be around the East Village in the late '60's and '70's through today. I highly recommend this tour and you will be cooler just for going! Tour ends at CBGB's (which is said to be closing in August-so sad!)

Rocking good time for all

This tour is a rocking good time for all - whether you are a novice or an expert on the East Village rock scene (or somewhere in between, like me). Bobby Pin is excited about the places and music he loves and it shows. I liked that he pulled worn torn vinyl out of his bag now and then to describe what he was talking about. He's quite professional yet obviously a rocker. He turned us on to some cool bars too! After the tour my group hit happy hour at Manitobas and had a blast. Thanks!

Good background on things you might otherwise just
Wed, Oct 29, 08   1:00 PM Mike_Elmer Male 40-49 International Tourist(s) Group of Friends
Guide Bobby Pin geared the tour to the groups interests. Left on time and ended on time. Provided a very nice leaflet at end of tour with a list of things to do, see, eat and shop in the tour region which where very good recommendations. Tour was exactly as described. Though it seemed a bit pricey, it felt worth it in hindsight. Don't forget your camera and your best Rock 'n' Roll attitude. Mike Toronto
